In this video a take a look and see how my layered archery foam target is getting on 3 years since I bought it. I also compare it to the previous layered foam target review I did of it and see how well it's lasting.

My son and myself share use of a 60 x 60 x 30 layered foam target. It gets shot at for about an hour every single day using 22lb draw recurve bows and a 50lb compound. Both at 20 metres range. After almost a year I bought another as the centre had suffered severely. Cost 55 pounds from ebay with free shipping. When the second target deteriorates I'll split them both and cannibalise the remains to make another. I'll modify the clamping to use screwed rod & nuts plus some 19mm ply to give even compressing pressure at the ends. By way of comparison we shot a self healing foam model to shreds in about two weeks.

Thanks for the comment. That sounds a really good way of getting 3 targets out of 2 layered foams. I do think they are great value for money and I have just turned mine round as some of the layered foam was folding over and I was getting the odd bouncer.

Apparently you can buy replacement foam for these but you've got to cut the straps to open it and then buy ratcheting straps to close it back up.

Yes I think you can use ratchet straps to hold it in place and then maybe use a banding strap machine.

After one and a half years mine got to a state where I had to fill it in with expanding foam.

Did that work? I've seen some clubs do that on Danage foam as well.

@@ArcheryblogUk Hi, almost a year later and the answer is not really. The hardware store foam isn't dense enough and it just makes a mess as it crumbles away. I ended up buying a cheap foam target block and strapping it to the back to prevent pass through.

Sorry I can't tell you much more about it. Thin layers of foam tightly packed.

What was the maximum rated draw weight for that target, can you remember?

I can't remember sorry, but I imagine it also depends on diameter of arrow, distance from target as well as draw weight.
