On this episode of think4X4 Ben and Lochie prepare the 80 Series for it's next trip by installing a Butyl Based Sound Deadener. This material prevents the sound and heat in the engine from entering the vehicle and also acts as a water proofer.

Next day? You both seem to have fresh haircuts... Thanks for this. So many products to choose from and I like the look of this thicker material. Cheers.

G’day mate great vid👍 I’m currently doing this job myself. I’ve cleaned my 80 series out and am currently trying to find what product to use. I’m in Melbourne myself. Where did you guys get sound deadner from and how much did it cost you.

G'day Luke Great to hear of someone else working on a similar project. We suggest contacting the guys from amplified automotive as they were the only supplier in the state that could supply a bulk box of sound deadening. If you go to 5:10 in the video you can hear Ben talk about the product and where he got it from. With a Budget of $1000 you can do the whole floor plan of the vehicle. Another $500 will allow you to do the wheel wells and doors. So far we've seen significant improvement in heat reduction around the gear box and we've also noticed improved sound reduction. Let us know how you go and send us your pictures to the 'think4x4media@gmail.com' and we'll share them on our social media page. Goodluck

Just done all the doors and rear quarters in my 80 series, along with a bit of sound absorbing foam. I’m fairly happy with the result but next step is to do what you did and rip all the carpet out. Did you do a before and after dB test?
