Kudos to peco, for utilising the skills of one of the best Utube presenters out there! Congrats to Charlie, when is he going to make the move to mainstream TV? Oops I forgot Utube is the new mainstream! best regards.
Getting ready to layout my HO trains on a 4' x 16' board with one inch of extruded foam board surface. Been buying the tools but wish you would put a materials list in the description for us newcomers. I like that hand drill. Cheers from upstate NY. Bob
Hello, is it possible to know what Angle is the Tracksetta 24 inch curve template? As in, if it's 12 degrees for example so it could be used to "straighten" out the track going from 12 degree turn?
OK, I'm using Peco Code 83 HO SuperFlex 36" tracks. I've got the Peco rail joiners as you mentioned in Part 1. The major problem I'm having is that the joiners are much too tight. They can't slide on as easily as you show. I've mentioned this on a train forum and I was told by more than a few blokes that I had to file the rail webbing and feet with needle nose files so the joiners will slip on. This is ridiculous as I bought only Peco products and they should work without me removing metal from the rails. On top of that, my eyesight is bad and I use the head band magnifiers with a light. Extremely tedious. PLEASE ADVISE WHAT I CAN DO TO RESOLVE THIS. Also, what size bit did you use for the pin vise? A list of what you used in the description would be helpful. Cheers, Bob
@@PECOrailwaymodeller Yes I use a Dremel with a 1mm drill but it skates off the sleeper - I'll have to try a smaller drill bit - thanks for your advice
Certainly for N gauge - very fiddly trying to drill sleepers at this scale in my experience. And I've quite easily re-lifted glued track when I've made an error.
Glue could fail over time, and in a hobby that is usually housed in either a roasting hot attic or a damp shed for decades, most would opt for the pins for the long-term reliability. Plus, it's much easier to pull up pins and raise the track if anything ever goes wrong - dropper wires failing and needing reconnecting etc.
