He wants his wee apartheid statelet. Pure and simple. His whole identity is shaped on opposition, whether that's opposed to a United Ireland, or a shared NI, or LGBT rights, etc. It's the unshifting 'Ulster says No' mindset. Ultimately it will backfire. NI itself has changed profoundly over the past two decades and himself and his dinosaurs in the DUP just look like fools, left behind and representing an ugly bygone era.
Will Sammy Wilson ever say, "The majority of voters in Northern Ireland voted to remain in the EU"? If he could start with that statement everything would be a lot easier.
@@brianholmes849 Is the Democratic Unionist Party of Milton Keynes loving for special treatment? The UK signed up to the Protocol. It should stick to it.
@@brianholmes849 Why does Milton Keynes share a land border with an EU nation and a peace agreement also? 🙄 Fuk me please!!!! Don't be a Simpleton all your life.
Noel i voted remain and still wish we had all stayed as part of the EU but you have to respect the democratic process. What i did say some years ago is that Teresa mays deal was the best deal going as Northern ireland was getting the best of both and by the time this protocol is sorted i guarantee what is accepted will resemble Teresa mays deal.
@@oscarosullivan4513 Sammy's not a Free Presbyterian and he starts on the whiskey for breakfast, not lunch. Only bushmills though, the good unionist stuff.
@@oscarosullivan4513 No, it's the political wing of Ulster Resistance, a loyalist paramilitary terrorist group that amalgamated with two larger paramilitary terrorist groups, the UDA and the UVF.The British government and media successfully propagated the myth that the conflict in NI was/is sectarian in order to make it look intractable and beyond the control of the government, when in fact it never really was sectarian, although the factions can be broadly broken down along sectarian lines. The issues that gave rise to the Troubles were fairly typical of what often triggers such a conflict. One group (loyalists) had a position of privilege, supported by the British government and the other group (everyone else) had few rights, little access t jobs, education etc. When the smaller non-loyalist group began to agitate for civil rights the larger loyalist group began pogroms to try to eradicate them. The IRA, which had existed since the 1920s but had effectively stood down, re-armed themselves in 1969 in order to resist the onslaught upon the nationalist population and the rest is history. The British government only began to take action to protect their non-loyalist citizens in 1970 when they were humiliated by the attention of the rest of the world and calls from the Irish government for a UN peacekeeping mission to propect those same citizens. They sent in their army to fulfil the task but they soon took the loyalist side, which led to escalation that lasted until 1998.
So Boris is building a bonfire and Sammy -who knows a thing or two about bonfires- wants to play with it. Be careful Sammy boy, be very careful, Boris already threw you under the Big Red Bus.
Boris is telling his supporters how lovely it is to see Elsie and the Pensioners keeping warm on the Brexit Bus. Off course they believe him, isn't he our PM and carries a badge of honesty, integrity and courage! He got Brexit Done! He acted like a true Commander in Chief when he led the NHS in...... The Great British Vaccine Roll Out! He is now at the business end of sorting out Putin in his quest to take over Ukraine! Warning the EU,who let's face it are acting like cads and spoilsports,to carefully consider their position on the NI Protocol or they will have Liz Trussed upon them!
@@joprocter4573 I’m sorry but you’re having a laugh, unionist “law and order?” I mean I suppose an apartheid state involves some order-just not very nice to everyone. Don’t know why you’re pretending it’s somehow any better than IRA terrorists, only difference is a terrorist with a badge and a pension
@@beaglaoich4418 no aphreid state caused by lack of mental. And physical integration in NI state education left to own devices like Islamic n sharia law radical divisive conduct seen in UK.
if there were a hard border Sammy's face would be glowing red as never before, Boris lied to you Sammy and you thought you would get a hard border, plus you voted against the will of the people
Ireland shouldn’t ever have been partitioned. Westminster took the easy option as it did in all its former colonies , I suppose it was the divide and rule. ( indirectly) Westminster should have acknowledged that it was their past actions of planting English and lowland Scots ( Anglo Saxons or people who adopted the Anglo Saxon culture and the reformed Catholic religion) that has caused so much heartache for both islands . Westminster needs to tell the planters that any of them that want to can return to England / Scotland and be given a sizable grant to do so. Then tell the remaining planters that they need to get on with it and accept that they are living in Ireland and not Britain .
The thing is, the forced famine and then the subjegation of an Irish parliment totally backfired on London. I mean, what the hell were these people thinking? Treating Irish people like cattle and expecting them to remain shackled to the UK...
Layla 100 correct! But why did the DUP support Brexit in the first place - it was obvious to anyone who understood the systems of the EU and the Peace Agreement that these would cause an issue. So what was the DUP doing deliberately attempting to break the peace over a fear of Irish reunification, seems small minded people.
People who believe the earth is only 6000 years old also believe a hard brexit would cause a hard border back between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland... And scrap the GFA.
Reunification? History lesson: Ireland has never been a single political entity EXCEPT under British rule. The Brits united Ireland and the "Irish" split. If you don't agree then you had better come up with evidence to the contrary. Good luck with that.
@@brianholmes849 : historically Ireland was one nation a long time ago, under one High King of all Ireland with other regional rulers around the country (much the same as any other country) with a complicated legal system (Brehon Law) and social cohesion right throughout society. Yes of course there were disputes from time to time among the regional leaders but the law, applied fairly, dealt with much of that. But that all ended after Ireland was invaded. Now the opportunity is there for Ireland to be reunited as one again. It’s disingenuous to say that Ireland was only united as one, under British rule. The fact is that it was a nation occupied by an invader. That’s historical fact. It can’t be disputed. So it is definitely disingenuous, in fact completely incorrect to say that there was never one united Ireland.
The DUP had no problem with a Separate SPS arrangement in 2007 for the North after the Foot and Mouth outbreak of that year. Rev. Ian Paisley even famously said that the was "Clear Blue Water" between Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
20 years ago there were SPS checks introduced into Northern Ireland to help prevent the National Herd from being infected with BSE and Foot and Mouth. City dwellers Should become more aware off where their food comes from and who Processes it. 🇮🇪🇪🇺
I wonder if Sammy has an Irish (EU) passport to which he is entitled? As a person born and bred in England who has lived in Canada for some time I wish I had an Irish Grandparent.
Labour party win Wakefield bye election. Liberal Democrats win Devon Bye election in England. Art Bezukravenko delivered that win for Britain politically Thomas.
The Northern Ireland Secretary should grow a pair and stop paying the DUP MLA's any salary during the times they boycott Stormont. When is that going to happen and try the same in any other country where you are elected not to take office and to be fully paid. If a Jobseeker doesn't stick to the agreements with the Welfare system, he/she will not be paid at all. What about MLA's/MP's who are not doing their jobs for what they have been elected? When is the Northern Ireland Secretary growing a pair and a backbone?
Im worried .sammys going full🍎. I wonder what its like to get forign laws put on you by force . Sammy wouldnt know as he voted this problem into existance . Oh dear. Sammy. Out of his comfort zone being lectured by a very intelligent woman He is not used to that it’s not party policy will only listen to a woman if it’s a party member and a Battle axe
Bring back Jo Swinson. She was the heart and soul of the Lib Dems. She was the greatest leader we've ever had. She would have become the first Liberal PM.
have you never heard of Gladstone? or more recently Lloyd George, who was PM during WW1 and indeed The Irish Civil War, which led to the creation of the border between the South and North
Wow his priceless, first it was to isolate the North of Ireland from the UK, when that gets shot down he changes course. Stay off the booze Sammy, your making a better case for a united Ireland than Mary Lou could ever do. I think he is a secret republican under cover in the DUP 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Indeed, the DUP strongly wanted a very hard brexit (and even paid for a wrap around advert in the Metro, issued in generally pro bremain London). They wanted as much separation from the EU (= The Republic right next door) as possible. But NI overall voted 56% bremain and serves them right!!
Poor Sammy living in the dark days , he is as flexible ad hardened steel. Maybe we can transport him back to a cave that may suit him better as long as his neigbouring cavedweller is DUP. Imagine living with so much hate inside ...Poor, Poor Sammy
