I can’t express how much I enjoy this Chanel, love the repair vids, love the layout vids Both keep me entertained whilst I’m on my lunch break or chilling out at home Keep up the good work and thank you
Hi 00 Bill 😊 Looking 👀 good 👍🏻 Spray your platform with matt varnish so it’ll preserve it from water 💦 ingress 😆 I always spray my card kits with varnish and it protects them even from the sun ☀️👍🏻 Love your explanation of how things work 😊
Really like adding the glue with the track in place, simple but so much easier. Didn’t want to get my track in just the right place to then have to take it out again to glue it, fantastic
Great to see the plan come to life. Would be interesting to whether you are happy with it, Any regrets and and favourite bits. Maybe work on one part get that done before moving on to another.
Thanks for the detail on CDU's , there are some interesting claims made for them, I bought one a few years ago that, it was advertised as be capable of switching four motors, it wouldn't even switch a pair! I still use one, similar to your Gaugemaster, that has given good service for years, but as you say the input voltage is key, I built a 24v supply for mine.
Getting there pretty fast I’d say Bill ! Compared to my tinkering your doing great getting this far in a relatively short period of time . Looking forward to seeing more
Brilliant setup Bill. It's a wonderful hobby and I bet you are always thinking of what to do next. I always loved model railways since I was a child but never expanded on the hobby, although I did become a train driver in real life. LOL Top-class stuff mate. 🚂👌👍
I'll second the suggestion to have a look at Pop Up laser Scots stations. They are just along the road from you in Dunbar. You must have seen them at Perth. I even got them made for me in H0 scale. Lovely!
I use PECO passing contact switches with the CDU in a Morley controller, and they work absolutely fine. I haven't noticed locos slowing down when I change points, but I don't really change points a lot whilst trains are running. I don't notice any need to pause when throwing the PECO switches to operate points. You do sort of need to buy PECO's frame to hold PECO's switches - one frame holds six switches. The PECO switches come with handles in several different colours, which can help in quickly identifying the one you want.
Many thanks Bill - another very interesting video. I just LOVE the smooth running bit at the end - not a wobble in sight. Obviously much time and effort has gone into the track-laying. Your video shows it's well worth that effort. Many thanks Best wishes Peter
Nice to see the layout updates. I have a cheap CD unit exactly the same except from a different store. It gave me the the same problem as you experienced, it was useless. I'm relieved to hear that it isn't just the one I have or that I had wired it incorrectly. My points work better without it so it has been sent to the junk box.
Hi Bill. Glad to see you are now concentrating on your layout. It will be so much different than your previous one but certainly a big improvement. It will be interesting to see if the footbridge linking the two platforms will be of an LMS design or an obscure Scottish design that I am not familiar with. Preferably the latter as it would be something unique that is not often seen on model railway layouts. Keep up the good work pal! Paul. 👍❤
I am enjoying this new build whether you are about to speed up now you are curtailing your repairs but this easy approach suit me fine what ever you do I know will be 1st class
Great to see the progress. Popup Designs have a fine selection of laser cut plywood kits of Scottish stations. I have two on my layout -Newtonmore and Broomhill.
There's a Peco/Wills/Ratio kit number 504. It's a stone station supposedly based on a Highland station building. It's pretty good and builds easily.its about a 210x65mm foot print..
With regards to the two analogue meters; can they not be taken apart to allow access to the scale? If so you could photocopy the scale you prefer to save purchasing another.
The polystyrene is to allow him to shape the land around ad below the level of the track, if needed. I understand that cork doesn't work as a sound insulator once you add ballast, since the glue effectively bypasses the deadening effect, so many people avoid using it altogether.
No doubt my ignorance, but does the pva not eat away at the polystyrene? Looking good though. I prefer the look of the levers to the passing contact switches too.
Hi. I've just brought an ammeter like yours. No instructions. If I am fitting it between controler and terminal block of bus wire could you tell me which wires are connected to back of ammeter. Many thanks. One side has a negative symbol.
The ammeter simply wires into the positive feed to the track. So basically take a wire from the positive terminal on the controller to one terminal on the ammeter and connect the other terminal on the ammeter to the track.
Repair or layout building either are always of interest. You put me to shame with how much you actually have done on your new layout. I really must try harder. Till next time take care.
