Who else is waiting for the Lost Future Sequel? Luke sent Hershel a letter saying there was something strange going on. We've never heard anything since
wouldn't be a suprise if the talking dog is somewhat related to Luke. maybe just like the later released trilogy of professor layton playing chronologically in the past, we might get a Luke Series playing before Lady Layton in the future? would definetly love to see that. :3
Sweet! Not only is there a new Layton game (and it looks awesome), but the series' return means my dream of the Professor getting into Smash has a chance again! Life is good.
Don't even wait for a price drop. That game is outstanding. I thought Lost Future was my favourite but Azran Legacy perfectly culminates everything up till then. The puzzles, character, art style, minigames, environments and music have never been better and its an emotional end that a fan just can't do without playing.
I was in the same situation but if its just Azran Legacy, then when its at a decent enough price just go for it. If you loved the other, then you should hopefully adore Azran Legacy.
I love the Professor Layton series. I got into Yokai Watch because it was developed by the same studio that made one of my favorite series of games, so you can bet your Master Sword I'll be slating this as a Christmas gift.
I'm not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, there's another Professor Layton game. On the other, the main character isn't Professor Layton... Well, I'll probably still buy it.
Well he kind of plays the straight man to some of the bs that goes on around him. Enest is the one that gets on my nerves for the same reason Luke did at time. It is pretty good so far though so I'd say pick it up if you like the series.
I was wondering if someone would bring up him. Quite the contrast between them, with one being a police detective working on mostly murder cases, and the other being a private eye who does a lot of missing persons cases. Wonder if their work ever overlaps, forcing them to work together?
Been without Layton for four flipping years. I suspect the brain in me gulliver shriveled up to the shape and size of a raisin, me lads. Seriously though, an autumn without the annual collection of puzzles is an autumn wasted. Good to know the same thing finally comes back in a different package.
I just picked up my pre-ordered copy of this game. Now I have: *Professor Layton and the Curious Village* (DS) *Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box* (DS) *Professor Layton and the Unwound Future* (DS) *Professor Layton and the Last Specter* (DS) *Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask* (3DS) *Professor Layton and the Arzan Legacy* (3DS) *Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy* (3DS) The two games I don't have, but want to get are: *Layton Brothers: Mystery Room* (iOS) *Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney* (3DS)
Same, I want Layton vs Ace Attorney too but it's so expensive now *cry*. I just couldn't afford it when it came out. But I'm excited for more puzzles! Excited to play.
I already started playing and although it's great, it's not as exciting as the ones with Hershel ♡ Now what I don't understand Is, why did Hershel disappear?? Did I miss something or does no one knows?
I already finishes it on iPad, completed all puzzles, got all the hint coins, completed all minigames with perfect score and completed all daily puzzles so far. Save me
On the one hand Layton is one of my favourite game series and I really want to get this. On the other hand it has a talking dog as a main character. Also I wonder who the mother is?
If the crossover game Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney was canon, it would take place in 2019 to 2020 because it takes place after Trials and Tribulations and before the unwound future. Katrielle Layton is 21 years old which would likely take place between the 2040s or 2050s pending when she was born after her father's final game as the main playable character. Do you agree?
Im ready for more fantastic music from this game....i adored the music from the previous games, so im sure this will be no different (although The Unwound Future was probably my favorite soundtrack wise)
I would have given up the dressing up feature for 3D. Even if not all background art is 3D, at least it'd make the characters and the foreground pop, they're already 3D models.
Pepper the only thing obsolete here is your lack of a brain. Switch is in no way superior to the success of the DS family. The switch may be handheld as well but doesn't have touch controls. Layton games are know for their touch controls so I doubt it will ever be on the switch, like ace attorney. Please learn about how the game works, it would be extremely hard to port that to the switch.
Seven LP Funny you should bring that up, because Unwound Future is the only game in the series that I've played, and I think that Claire would be the most likely candidate for Layton's wife... If she wasn't dead.
I WANT. NOW. in all seriousness, i really want to try and get into the professor Layton series. Which game should i start out with that is readily available?
I know this isn't going to be very helpful but just start with the first game A Curious Village and play through them in order to get the best experience. The series so far is set up with the original 3 games serving as a trilogy then a prequel trilogy that ends at the beginning of the original trilogy. You could start with the fourth game The Last Spector but the advancement in the art style, audio quality, puzzles and extra features will make going back through the originals less enjoyable. I will say though that the first game A Curious Village is the most primitive and my least favourite of all the games but its still enjoyable and serves as a good introduction to Layton, Luke and other characters. Hope that was of some help.
Thanks! I don't usually play through games more than once so... eh. I mean, yeah, I've played through loz tp almost 5 times (and i haven't beat the final boss for ANY of those playthroughs), but im never going to reset my town after all of my progress in acnl. Just, losing all that progress isnt very satisfying half the time.
Aaaaand I bought the physical copy. Sigh... oh well. When I got it delivered later, I'll play this before my MO bundle switch + BoTW came. Hopefully the puzzle is as good as the other Layton games
I've never played any of the Layton games aND this looks interesting. As a newbie do you think it's wise to start here? Or should I play the other ones first?
Honestly, this is not the best offering of the layton series. I would suggest Unwound Future (story) or Miracle Mask (good culmination of enhancements to gameplay and puzzle mechanics.)
“But haven’t you seen future Flora here? I guess I just thought you would’ve been more concerned about My well being in the future” this Professor Layton unwound future quote did not age well. 😡 WHERE IS FLORA!?! 🎀
So, question. Can I just jump into this series at any random game, or am I going to have to go back and play every single game in the series? 'Cause this looks like my kinda thing.
Just Some Guy To be fair, this looks like it might be something of a reboot. And as for past games, while there is something of an overarching plot, you're not gonna be horribly lost about what's going on in one specific game if you jump in the middle.
Hi new to the series. The Layton series always interested me but never got a chance to play it. Anyway story wise do I need to play the others to understand what is happening? All I know is Layton and his apprentice solve mysteries/puzzles. I also know this game takes place after the events of the other games. Basically what I’m asking, is this game easy to follow for a newcomer??
Badger McWaffles I'm four hours into the game and I'd say no. There are a lot of eastereggs and some returning characters, but you don't have to know them to understand what's going on.
I hate the idea that the Professor is having kids but not from Claire.... I don't know...I shipped him hard with Claire...but Claire died back then so don't really like the idea of him having a biological kids with another woman....except if both Alfendi and Katrielle is adopted....like the 'Phoenix Wright' series where Phoenix adopted Trucy as his daughter :D But I'm a loyal fan of the Layton series, still going to play this though :D ~Cheers! just my honest opinion here
TheKewlKev Layton timeline is the same as star wars. A trilogy (Curious village, Diabolical Box, Unwound Future) and a prequel trilogy (Last specter, Miracle mask, Azran legacy) and now this, which takes place years after Unwound Future. So release order is the best way to go, although chronological order is ok too. My personal favorite is Unwound future or maybe Miracle mask. But they're all great.
Very doubtful. Why I wont be surprised if there is a reference or two for experienced Layton players this game is made with players like you in mind. It's a good time to jump in if you're interested in the series imo.
