Chris I hear you about bringing in a team to tackle bigger projects. But what I love most about my job as a creator is the flexibility, to be able to work what I want, seize the opportunities that I want and take a breaks when I want. I want to become better, instead of bigger. A company of one!
Business cards are HUGE! Im constantly asked for cards while out shooting a customer's car or even just out practicing and looking for the next detail, angle, shot, location etc

This sure made me think. I am 55, unemployeed but have a real desire to create video as well as photo's. I'm a little late in the game, I realize that but perhaps what I need to focus on is helping businesses grow by helping them market their product/s through video and photography. I hadn't really thought about that until watching this video. So thank you for giving me something to seriously look in to further.

Thanks man for the budget template it just blows my client cost break down out of the water! I appreciate it and my clients appreciate it when they can see as much information on cost break down as possible! Now if only I could figure out how to budget for my youtube channel because sometimes it feels like I am just throwing money into penny stocks hoping to get a decent return

I do photography as a hobby, bought my first camera last week. Being an art history bachelor I've always had a creative mind, but working in the legal field doesn't let me use this creativity. This camera is my solace whenever I feel trapped or need to create something. The legal field is also a passion, don't get me wrong! There's just to sides of me fighting all the time and now..they just don't have to anymore. The whole dope squad inspired me to get out there, get a camera and just get creative... So thank you :)
1000% agree with the networking section. I feel like that segment could be broken down into a whole video. In fact, that's my idea, please do that. If you feel like it... Not trying to tell you what to do.

Thank you Chris! I actually stumbled upon this video on accident, but it was meant to be because I decided to take my videography to the next level just last week and I’ve got two businesses booked already!
I got to the point where I was sleeping for only an hour each day working with clients that I just had to go back to working a 9 to 5. Although, I know it is my passion and there is money I’m working on structuring everything to get back into it. These tips did help! The only outsourcing I was doing at the time was hiring a voice over actor for the videos (fiverr), which were mostly car commercial for franchise auto dealers. I will be pro soon!
Man, I've been an entry-level staff video editor for a well-known company for too many years and I've been trying to break into the freelance market to prove myself and add value to my career. I've only landed 1 major client this year doing it on my own. I used skillshare to figure out how to do proposals better and that seemed to helped. But man I can not find clients willing to pay. I used to do the small nickel and dime work but you can't grow and work for pennies forever. I've also had NO success using UpWork or Fiverr I really don't know who's doing all that work but It's not me. Thanks for the Free Budget Template I paid for. It kind of reminds me of UpWork, I spent more money to not get gigs. Thanks for the tips, I really do appreciate this video.
When going to network events it's no different from building rapport with clients. Don't be shy saying you just started out and need to build your client base which most of these companies have. The key thing is to point out your main 3 pitches on what makes you different from your competition. Also don't be shy when singling out who is important for your business or not. If you come across someone you think they are not compatible with your business politely move on until you do find one. For business cards have an e-business card that is connected to your LinkedIn. It has to be simple yet precise. Think of it as a glass door to your LinkedIn which is your online resume... so make it impressive. Thats as far as I got in the video before hitting the pause and typing this. Just got to adapt to the times but also stick to your roots.

Good tips; on bike, flip it upside down when taking a break. It will sit on handle bars and seat. Grab the front wheel and pop back up when ready to ride. Kick stands get ya hurt if ya fall.

Love the tips Chris. Been using Adobe Sign for my business and it has been so easy/convenient for both the client and myself. Definitely need to utilize the scanning of business cards though!

I actually find networking groups to be a great way to get clients, I’m part of one here in Iceland and a lot of the people going to the events are business owners who have hired me to create promotional content for them. But totally get that a lot of people could be going just to find clients for themselves, maybe I just got lucky with this group!
