This will prove to be a losing battle for these LCBO workers.

Before they privatized the liquor stores in Alberta you had to wait in a lineup for a half hour on peak days. Now it's no waiting , convenient hours and good selection, what's not to like. We are all tired of wining government employees.

If you are waiting in line ups, it's because stores are understaffed, not because it's not privatized!!! We aren't "whining"(not wining) we are strong !!!💪

@jannine67 the LCBO needs to be abolished. It's an unnecessary waste of government funds to run. Private stores are WAY better for hours, staffing, and selection.

@jannine67 it depends what you call understaffed......if they are lazy and Don't produce it will look like understaffed

@jannine67 so what, A few cars honk their horns on the way by on the line .. you dont have the peoples support on this one... It's a losing battle. Maybe not this contract.. or the next.. but the writing is on the wall. As the late Rod Ford said.. "The gravy train is coming to a stop. "... The overhead and wages we save on privatization can go to the health care and education programs.. nobody batted an eye when he canceled license plate renewal fees (over 1 billion annually) and moved service Ontario kiosks into American big box store Staples. Still no eyes being batted.

You can have the same business model privatized. It's being done EVERYWHERE else. The government will always collect their taxes.

Where are you referring to? Alberta? Rolling surgical outages and service cutbacks at major hospitals are symptoms of a growing “aneurysm” of acute care crisis in Alberta's health care system, says the Alberta Medical Association (AMA).May 16, 2024 Where the privatization of Healthcare has been expanding more and more. The average Alberta liquor store makes 20 to 30% profit. As the LCBO generates 2.5 billion in revenue that would be 750 to 500 million lost revenue. I'd rather that revenue go to the province for Healthcare, essential programs, education and infrastructure than into the store owners pockets. Quebec? How many Quebecers have no family doctor? In 2022, Quebec lost 49 more doctors than it gained. And there are no signs the bleeding will stop, despite more than 649,000 Quebecers who don't have a general practitioner.May 13, 2024 By every major indicator - from emergency-room overcrowding to record-high surgical wait times and the lack of available spaces in nursing homes - Quebec's health-care system is now arguably the worst it's ever been. Quebecers who flock to Ontario fir their wine because the cost is ridiculous there. No thank you. My Healthcare and its funding is more important than your need for booze in every store. Should jewellery stores, Roots clothing stores, Shoe stores, MK stores and so on and so on now sell booze too? No as they sell what they sell. Just like LCBOs sell what they sell. Ford's obsession with booze from his failed buck a Beer campaign to Tailgate drink and drive parties to now selling in every store is a sad state of affairs. The province should be focused on Healthcare crisis, homelessness crisis, etc. More of his broken promises and lies.

@@jannine67I can walk in and out of an emergency dept in 2 hours in AB. I can get necessary diagnostics, imaging, routine check ups, etc all within a week in AB. I also gained a family Dr within a month of moving to AB. Can you say the same about Shitario? Not sure where you are getting the smoke blown up your ass from, but what you've stated above isn't true, coming from an imported Albertan.

@jannine67 you cannot tie lcbo to Healthcare and education. The government has cut more from those programs than the lcbo generates for them annually! It's up to the government to make them a priority and going back to ford's first term he has not. He has cut.

Our Unions are now in the business of selling, pressuring & promoting lifestyles, ideologies & values. Stay in your lane & promote the products asked for. I want to buy beer or liquor. Let the cobbler stick to his last.

LCBO generates 2.5 billion revenue for the province. That revenue goes towards Healthcare, Education, Infrastructure and essential services. Ford wants to put that revenue into the pockets of CEO'S and convenience store owners pockets. What happens to our Healthcare, education etc when that revenue is gone. PRIVATIZE!!! If more stores are needed or different hours to accommodate the people, then open up more stores, change hours, which creates more jobs and keep the revenue coming back to the people of Ontario and the essential services we need. I don't understand how Ford makes Booze a priority but 12 hr or longer Er wait times, people without doctors, homelessness etc are not a priority... disgusting

This is a fight worth fighting! Stay on the picket line as long as necessary! I couldn’t believe the ignorance of people in the grocery store today calling these workers greedy and that they just want more money. Rather, money isn’t the issue. JOB SECURITY is the issue. It doesn’t matter what the financial offer is here, when the government plan is to phase out these jobs. To all those ignorant people, educate yourself before talking.

Those jobs will be recreated by private entrepreneurs instead of the government. A private liquor model works great in other provinces. Just like privatized medical services are working wonders in other provinces to get the care we deserve.

nobody cares. Typical union BS. Making it sound like you care about hospitals and schools when all you care about is keeping control. Well, you're control is gone. People of Ontario are sick of unions telling us when and where we should be able to buy our booze. Privatize privatize privatize. Say NO to unions.
@jannine67
@jannine67 6 дней назад
Who is nobody? The people do care and the incredible support of our customers and from people while out on the picket lines has been overwhelming. LCBO is the government, not the union, so the government decides operating hours and locations just like any other retailer, so not sure what your argument about unions telling you when and where to buy your booze is. LCBO has the same operating hours as any other major retailer or close to those operating hours. Unless you are referring to a need for 24 hr sales of liquor so someone who has already been drinking can then go get more, that argument is invalid. As for where you buy your booze, if there is a need for more locations then like any retailer the government should open up more stores to accommodate that need and create more jobs, which is their job. As for saying no to unions, I saw you once needed the union ( Steelworkers union) because your foreman was picking on you and the union helped you with that. So you thought the union was great enough when you needed them to help you but now seem to be a disgruntled ex union member. I am grateful for the union we have helping us keep our jobs and keep 2.5 billion dollars of revenue in the hands of ONTARIO People which is what millions of our customers have expressed to us.

If anything privatization will increase revenue and profits. Less overhead, and more convenience for the consumer equals more money in taxpayers pockets 🤷 People are wise to the unions. All the crap they spew trying to make people think that by privatizing, our schools and hospitals will crumble 🤣. The people of Ontario are smarter than you think they are. Sure I said in a video the union I was in helped me deal with a horrible foreman, but that's all they ever did for me. Protecting lazy workers with high seniority over hard workers with low seniority is ridiculous. Job security should be based on hard work, not time served.

Would being open 7am to 11pm 7 days a week help with a settlement?
