I’m a foot care nurse and I really want to do this for my clients that have ingrowing toenail issues. The only ones I work on are mild of course, anything beyond my scope is exactly that! I always insist they book an appointment with a chiropodist or contact their primary MD, so with that in mind, can foot care nurses offer this type of service for their clients? The finished product was beautiful! I have already looked at the link for the products, reasonably priced.

I would of filed the end of the brace that you cut there is a risck of hurthing the skin on the side of the nail😊

Yes! When we filed the brace to release some pressure, the sides of the brace were filed as well. But you can file the end of the brace before you apply as well.

Hey I know this was posted over a year ago but I really hope you see and can reply to this comment, i want to ask if this permanently made it go back into its original shape, and therefore removing the pain and irritation permanently, or is this only temporary and it will start Ingrowing again. If you reply to this then thank you. It really means a lot more then you would think.

Hello! Ingrown toenails always have the possibility of coming back. This can be because of a few different factors: The toenail is growing in with a curve, or even poorly fitted shoes. This toenail brace allows the client to wear their existing shoes, offers immediate relief from pain, and allows the practice of daily activities. Braces can be used for prolonged periods of times.

@@LCNCANADA yes, but unless the patient gets another one by wearing tight shoes or cutting their nails too short or too round, will this get rid of the ingrown nail?

@@dallaspayday4673 No, an ingrown toenail brace will never be able to completely get rid of an ingrown toenail as ingrowns are more of a lifestyle change the clients must do to prevent them from coming back. Even with surgery for ingrowns, if the client continues to do what you mentioned above, ingrowns will always come back. Some clients also just have very rounded toenails that always cause ingrowns. Braces are there to be a non-invasive option to prevent ingrowns from getting worse and to relieve pain and pressure.

You would feel pressure being relieved. The only time there may be discomfort (not necessarily pain) is if the ingrown has some sort of infection or inflammation. - usually, however, if there is any sort of infection or inflammation the service should wait until that has subsided.
