In our heart of hearts, I think we all know that Jesus needs, wants and deserves to have a massive slush fund, so that he can enjoy the excitement and fun of investing in the securities markets, seeing what he can get away with and so on. If one reads and ponders the scriptures carefully, reading between the lines, it's easy to see that he didn't really want to be born when he was and where he was. He wanted a job in finance and wanted to be born in NYC or in the City of London. He didn't want to just be a day trader. He wanted to be like the head of a massive asset management company...and own all the assets. Local congregations and communities don't need that money as much as Jesus does. Let's all pitch in and help make Jesus's dreams come true! Rusty and Associates are doing their part.

The budgets for wards and stakes have been shrinking over the last few years in my area. I stopped paying tithing when I realized the ward budget, Relief Society, Elders Quorum, Young Women's, Young Men's, and Primary's budgets could all be covered by my tithing alone.

That massive slush fund, now in the hundreds of billions, simply represents an incessant draining and extraction of wealth AWAY from local congregations and communities (including all of the investment potential that goes with the "tithing" extracted)...a process that has been going on for decades now. The amount returned by the Church in any form is a small fraction of the extraction. All in the name of collecting money for Jesus (who apparently has nothing better to do than invest it in the securities markets, dubious real estate acquisitions and redundant MacTemples).

It's a relentless wealth extraction program that has been draining resources AWAY from local congregations and communities for decades. Very little is returned by the Church to those congregations and communities. With every dollar of donation/tithing sent to SLC...also goes the investment/earning potential of that dollar (which the "Church" obtains and then pretends is "not tithing"). Gone forever from the local congregations.

I’m actually in the same position. I’m a stake auditor and I found out exactly that, my tithing alone can cover the very few help they gave… I stopped paying tithing as well but I kind of feel weird about it, however I try to give charity in other ways.

About three years ago the church sent a letter to all stakes saying that they were appropriating all savings (money not spent from previous years) above about $2:5K. My branch had saved almost 9K which we were saving to use for some big-ticket activities, and out it went to greedy SLC.

I wonder if, since the Church invoked the "bad Lawyers made us break the law" defense, in response to their last investigation, which is directly related to this one as well, does this open the Lawyer's work up to investigation in furtherance of a crime as well this time?

To the final point: If you think that transparency will make the church (or any other organization) look bad, it's because deep down some part of you realizes the church/organization is bad. If you truly believe the church is good, then transparency can only serve to expose the good - and isn't the church supposed to be the shining light, not covered by a bushel (to paraphrase Jesus)? How can it be a shining light if it is not transparent?

Luv it! This is from the second anointment ceremony, right? In the Holy Schmoly of Holy Schmolies. I can't remember if it's recited while the initiate is wearing a poncho and playing with olive oil or if it's done while hugging a strange man through a gauzy veil. But it certainly focuses one's mind on the higher things of importance for the Lord's very electest elect leaders of great election.

Typically, in large-block shareholding reporting systems, concepts such as "common control", "specially related entities" and "acting in concert" are applied and relevant disclosures are required in the reports. If that applies in the SEC's 13-G system, that would mean that any combination of the shell companies' holdings that reached the 5% threshold would have to be reported (possibly by one of the entities, who would have to disclose the relationship to the other entities, as the designated reporter for the relevant cluster of entities). The fact that they were all under the common control of Ensign Peak would have linked them in every instance to Ensign Peak and to each other. It wouldn't surprise me if Ensign Peak (aka "The Church") wanted to avoid 13-G filings BECAUSE of the relationship disclosures that would have been required in the reports...meaning that if they honestly disclosed the full scope of their "special relationships", common control, acting-in-concert potential, etc. the entire cover provided by the shell companies would have been publicly blown. Every 13-G would likely need to have disclosed the relationship to Ensign Peak.

These missing forms are a side show. The real story is insider trading. The church uses one shell company to manipulate the price of specific stocks while another shell uses that foreknowledge to make profitable trades. For example -- If the church owned 100,000 shares of company xyz in shell A and decided to sell those shares on a future day, then shell B would "short sell" those same number of shares prior to that date creating a profit for shell B as prices declined. Shell C could buy put options and create profit in Shell C. Shell D could take position in the futures market and make profit for D. -* FOREKNOWLEDGE makes money and the church has enough money to manipulate markets at a certain time in the future. With enough shells you could reverse this process and make money on the buy side. This also opens the door for individual insider trading if that information is provided to certain special relatives of Apostles. The FBI and IRS really need to get involved in this and start seizing records.

Are tithes paid via personal bank account like a direct debit, or does the CONgregation put it on a plate each week/monthly Sunday as we do in the Catholic Church? In the Catholic Church, we give wan want to, there's no percentage. We have a numbered envelope to put on the plate monthly or we can request a set amount each month, of our choosing regards to amount. Ten percent is alot IMHO, hence the BILLIONS the LDS Church has stashed in assets, yikes.m
@aredesuyo
@aredesuyo 4 месяца назад
@@WolvesinFrance There's no collection plate, but it is possible to hand physical cash or a check to the bishop at church (in a church-supplied envelope with a form inside to fill out). About ten years ago, they put in place an online system that enabled direct debit, which most people use nowadays. Yes, 10% is a lot--especially for the poor. When I finally quit throwing away 10% of my gross wage in 2015, I experienced the financial blessing of not having to ask my parents for money anymore, plus actually being able to put away for the future like a responsible adult.

I'm active LDS but I really enjoy listening to RFM and Mormon Stories pod. It bothers me that the church has the hypocrisy of telling us to be honest in all our dealings but does things like create shell companies to avoid having to disclose assets. Nevertheless, having come to the realization that the church isn't what it claims to be (I don't think any religion is "true"), I've never experienced a more enduring and genuine community than in my local ward. My new motto is "the church isn't true, the members are."

One typical talking point that I've seen numerous times from faithful Mormons on this subject: "My obligation to pay tithing is to Heavenly Father, so it doesn't matter what happens to it after I've paid it to Heavenly Father's representatives. If they misuse it, then Heavenly Father will deal with them, and I will know that I kept the commandments".

I was led to believe that paying gross 10% tithe was the only way to get a temple recommend and dwell in the celestial realm after death. Why would the leadership be worried about members not paying tithing if their actual wealth was known? Members gotta pay their way to glory no matter what the church’s shady dealings are. The church is one very wealthy stinking pile of BS in every way.
@TEAM__POSEID0N
@TEAM__POSEID0N 4 месяца назад
@@erstwhile3793 Yep. Weird ain't the half of it. Faith in Mormonism is pretty much a never-ending exercise in begging the question. A faithful Mormon will give me an explanation like that above and I'll just ask something simple like "how do you know that you're really paying it to 'Heavenly Father's representatives'?".... And they'll just look at me with a blank stare, as though I was speaking to them in Reformed Egyptian, or some other unknown language. Finally, we just rinse and repeat when they tell me they "know" because of the invisible, odorless "Holy Ghost" (TM) and "feelings" obtained therefrom.

Church message to local congregations (for decades upon decades): "Give to us this day our daily wealth extraction...and to you one day we may (or may not) return a tiny fraction." "Now that's more of a couplet than anything else, but it does encapsulate our robust program aimed at net wealth extraction from local congregations and communities. And we do not regard potential investment returns on tithing money as tithing, even though the local congregations give that up too when they send their money to us in SLC." ~ Hoardin' B. Finckley (Author of "Standing in Something")

Professor Anderson - you misspoke when you stated "a war on Gaza". The war is in Gaza, not on Gaza. The war of which you speak is against Hamas, a terrorist organization that attacked Israel on October 7, killed 1200 innocent Israelis, brutally, heinously murdered infants, raped & killed women, and have taken hostage many Israelis whose status is unknown. Hamas was elected by the Palestinian people and has done everything possible to keep the Palestinians in abject poverty. Terrorists attacked Israel & care nothing for the people of Palestine.
