I understand completely....when I first heard it ...I was like what? But I think I understand the angle...since I'm living it... In the first verse she's talking about a guy that she's involved with (or was) and they may have taken a "break" from each other but the feelings are still there...she's asking God to make him like You if he was to come back ..to come back ready to show and prove and not just talk the 2nd verse she's asking God for guidance ...and she is realizing that she does deserve
the man that she is praying for...that she doesn't have to settle for less...so if the man from verse returns...she is praying him come back resembling all the characteristics of God or don't come back at all...she knows she only deserves God's best.... Hope that makes sense what I said...I can get long-winded...:)
