Le Chatelier's Principle

Professor Dave Explains

If a system is at equilibrium, and we do something to it, it will shift in a particular way. It is quite easy to predict the behavior of equilibria if we know about Le Chatelier's principle and three simple situations!

Chemistry teachers are generally horrible. They understand it well, but they are unable to teach it for the students who have difficulty in grasping this subject. The way you teach is extremely simplified, and efficient. I LOVE YOU PROFESSOR! You've helped me through all my Chemistry classes, and saved my butt countless times through your videos. You'll be the reason I get into Grad school!

If you don't tell people they have illness they are going to die". We all have the greatest illness which is failure of purpose and identity, we all lie, steal, lust-watching porn(which is equal to committing adultery) and hate(equal to murder) and just like a judge who judges offenders so will God judge you but God made a way for you through jesus christ who paid your fine just like someone pays your fine in a court and you are free to leave and so did jesus pay your fine, believe in jesus and repent(change your ways) God will grant you everlasting life as a free gift, Joh 3:16-19 GW 16 God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but to save the world. 18 Those who believe in him won't be condemned. But those who don't believe are already condemned because they don't believe in God's only Son. 19 This is why people are condemned: The light came into the world. Yet, people loved the dark rather than the light because their actions were evil. I Am not supporting religion, mormonism, catholicism, etc but about life when you read the bible you will find a huge difference between the bible and religion Please watch this video it will make more sense ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ChWiZ3iXWwM.html

Sir, how does it effect the equilibrium position when the pressure is increased but in this case it the reversible thermal decomposition of calcium carbonate, where you get calcium oxide and carbon dioxide, does that mean increasing pressure make it move in the direction of making calcium carbonate or is there no change?

Hello, I would like to ask - when there occurs a reaction converting a certain amount of ethanol into acetaldehyde (let's assume 13 moles of EtOH produce 13 moles of acetaldehyde), what pressure evolution would acompany such a reaction if it takes place in a closed titanium teflon lined vessel at constant temperature (let's say 160 °C)? Does the pressure change as the reaction proceeds according to different boiling points of the chemicals (i.e. autogenous build up pressure)? And what role does the filling factor play? Thanks for the answer in advance.

Prof Dave Thank you for your kind reply. I would elaborate the question little further. if i have equilibrium endothermic reaction say A -->
@ProfessorDaveExplains
@ProfessorDaveExplains 7 лет назад
well that depends entirely on the equilibrium constant, that will tell us what to expect, but in this case raising the temperature will push things towards products because of the entropic favorability and what that means for the gibbs free energy equation, so at a high enough temperature, i think it's feasible to say that it will go entirely to product. but again, depends on the precise reaction!
