I received a BA in chemistry from Carleton College, and performed graduate studies in both synthetic organic chemistry and science education at Cal State Northridge, receiving an MA in the latter. Prior to this I taught for about a decade in various high school and undergraduate settings, specializing in organic chemistry but also teaching general chemistry, physics, and biology.
This channel is for students at the high school and undergraduate level, but it is also for members of the general public who just want to know more about the world and how things work. The reason all science deniers call science dogmatic is that when a denier postulates an alternative theory, scientists will respond "prove it," and since they can't, the feel excluded from scientific investigation. Science and scientists will accept ANY theory, no matter how bizarre or contradictory to existing ideas, but only if it's verifiable and tests successfully. Science requires evidence. If you don't have it, can't support it, or can't test it, it is useless, and you will be ignored. Rightly so.

As a person with a master's degree in History, who is still baffled that apparently, Humanity is reverting back to pre-Ancient Greek (that is over two thousand years ago, people. Two *thousand* years) knowledge about the spherical nature of the Earth.....WHY? What is to be gained with proving the Earth is flat? I "get" Young Earth Creationists, they cling to outdated, hyper-conservative religion, and anything that threatens that needs to be disproven, lest their blinkered world-view crumbles in their hands. And Flat Earthers seem about on par with YEC's in their utter scientific illiteracy, and I'm sure the 2 groups overlap to a not insignificant extent. But these Flat Earthers often don't even bring religion into their arguments. Then why? Why do the _need_ the Earth to be flat? Is it _just_ to be able to cling to conspiracy theories?
that's been bothering me too. I've seen flat earthers that are into conspiracies, and one of them got into conspiracy as a "psychological safe haven" or whatever. basically thinking that "the government does evil things and there must be an explanation to that", so he got caught by conspiracy theories because they bring such "explanation". Flat earth is a consequence of that. what motivates others I do not know.
As far as I can tell, it's main-character syndrome, it's the whole aspect of "I KNOW SOMETHING YOU DON'T! I'M BETTER THAN YOU!!", they literally make up a fantasy to be in for the sole reason of thinking they're better than other people.

It's part of the coriolis force, and ship cannons fire projectiles far and fast enough that effects like this are really significant, but in our everyday lives, the motion is short and slow enough as to be negligible. Your lack of understanding of this shows up a few other times. 14:25 The coriolis effect does actually induce trade/prevailing winds. This is technically a form of Taylor-Couette flow, although the original flow referred to by that name is with cylinders. Obviously, local breezes and the like are caused by nonuniform heating and landscape etc, but the earth's rotation absolutely contributes to wind.
2: Nope. It is the spot on the globe that has the sun in zenit that moves. This is the main factor for general wind direction. And it is only indirectly connected to the rotation of the globe. At coasts, the wind normally goes from sea to land due to more heating of land mass than water. MsEE.

I actually have a question for flat earthers why would anyone go through such great lengths to lie about eh shape of the earrh? What do they gain from hiding this? If the government is hiding this it would be the greatest conspiracy in history requiring the corporation of millions of people from all government official(even the ones at odds of each) to every architects in the last 500 years to all be In on it. And what do all these people gain from this?also for each of these individuals what do they gain from this? It hard to keep a group of hundred people to keep quiet how exactly are millions be kept silence? I’m just wondering why someone would go through such great lengths for something so trivial.

If momentum was nonexistent, we would be the video game equivalent of a blovered zombie (they get yeeted off the board (pvz2) at ~24 m/s or ~86 km/hr (which is ~79 ft/s or ~54 mph for American people) ) and since the earth spins at 1600 km/hr or 1000 mph (but earth is so big that the rotation speed is slow) we would replace all airplanes, just by jumping/flying for long enough, just be wary of anything in your path Tl;dr, no momentum = bad
My biggest thing about flat earthers, is why are the three main celestial bodies you can easily see from Earth: the moon, the sun, and Mars all round, but Earth is magically flat😂😂😂. Also science, and actual photos of Earth from the surface of the moon do it for me. I never thought these people were real until I went down a rabbit hole on RU-vid this morning
Dave, im sorry but you have actually made a mistake. At point 173 you claim that those images have been made by flat-earthers. They havent, they have been made by NASA, but the real reason they're like that is because the image is composite and in-between the time different photographs have been made, clouds have moved, looking like clouds have been "copy-pasted". But thats the only mistake in the video.
