this Rondeau M378 is a very special car, startet 10 times to the 24h race in Le Mans between 1978 and 1988. More than every other car in history. Steel space frame, 1796pound (816kg) and a Cosworth V8 generating 415hp at 9000rpm.
The incredible story of Jean Rondeau : French amateur living in the city of Le Mans , he built his car & drove it to the win ... A wonderful achievement .
Awesome, love the sound of that petrol 3.0l V8..... music to my ears. I watched that vid and pretended it was me paying all those other cars at Le Mans 😍😍😍
Vraiment JEAN RONDEAU à construit de très bonnes voitures performantes équilibrées et facile a prendre en main... Dommage qu'il soit'parti si vite .....on peut imaginer les bolides que,il aurait pu construire... ALAIN LE MANS
I love the Old Prototypes. Tell me, Does this car have ground effects? (i guess it does but im not 100% sure) DFV sounding beautiful as well. Well done getting this old beauty out on the track where it belongs.
Some ppl only knows Mclaren F1 Bentley Speed Jaguar XJR Mazda 787B Kremer 935 Porsche 962 and Sauber Mercedes C1 but this car was underated le mans winner
It was like watching a "cheater car" in Forza Motorsports, blowing by all kinds of more exotic machinery...Funky looking, but effective! Totally amusing.
JWAE used it in their Mirage to win the '75 race, and Jean Rondeau with a win in '80. Detuned these were pretty reliable, thus the 9,000RPM limit instead of 11,000+. These were cheap racing engines in the day, and with things in the mid 70's like the gas crunch, turbo technology was still in it's infancy unless you had money like Porsche or Renault, and building a N/A 3.0 from scratch that could produce power just the same, like Ferrari, or Matra.
