Hi all, sorry I couldn’t bring you a better race today. After two weeks without a race, this was my one and only chance to get on track. And I never sugarcoat my race videos… I want them to reflect the realism of what I encounter, whether it’s good or bad. Calling it ‘terrible’ is definitely aimed at the race itself, and not the sim. Like I said in the intro, it’s in Early Access so I fully expected it to be rough around the edges. It’s not the sim to blame when one person decides to ruin a race. And that’s what happened here. Also, if you’re wondering how I managed to access a Le Mans Ultimate replay file, check out the guide from @roy_33nl36 on his RU-vid channel. While there’s no way to easily play an LMU replay in-game currently, Roy has found an incredibly helpful workaround!
Chris, everyone wants to win, they don't worry about having a clean race. Good driving, I always laugh when you comment about those drivers that slides off the road, and you also show your mistakes...bring another race....mount panorama this time.

Really good to hear that a ban has been handed out too… wasn’t sure if reports were a thing yet, while in Early Access and without replays, but really good work for acting quickly. It ruined other people’s races far more than it did mine. Keep up the good work, and I’ll look forward to giving it another try 👍
Martinez at least showcased something: This game needs stricter moderation or stricter damage settings. Nobody who plows someone like they did into Turn 1 deserves to keep going.
Yeah, I couldn’t believe it when I had that spin on lap one, and lost P3 to the very same guy who’d smashed into multiple cars at full speed! How he’d managed to rejoin and race competitively, only a few seconds behind me, I’ll never know!
I have said this before but absolutely love your commentary. You never fail to build hype for the race far better than many people who commentate on actual motorsports.
The last car rolling backwards at the start has somehow gotten a laugh out of me. just seeing him strolling away 😂😂 But yeah, you've probably got really unlucky with the lobby, but pretty damn lucky in the race considering what has happened. I've seen other streamers play this game and never have i seen a session like this, so i would say the races are usually cleaner, especially cleaner than this. I would also say martinez was the sole reason for the lobby being that chaotic, i think without him it could have been different
Haha yeah, I was half expecting to meet them halfway around lap 1, still rolling backwards while the rest of us were getting on with the race 🤣 You’re absolutely right though… it only takes one person to ruin a race, and that’s definitely what happened here. You can’t blame a sim for the actions of one individual. Fingers crossed I’ll get a bit luckier when I find time for a second attempt 🤞
Wow, that start. not seen anything like that on LMU in my couple of weeks on the sim Chris. In fact, probably the cleanest and best racing i've had in sim racing for a good few years. I'll be honest i just think you were incredibly unlucky with this lobby, it's not been my experience at all.
Thanks Metz, I did wonder if I was just really unlucky with the lobby I landed in. Maybe a lot of other ‘first-time’ racers in there who weren’t really taking it seriously. Just typical that my one and only race in a fortnight ends up being the grid from hell 🤣

Sorry that happened to you , my bad experiences have been minimal , a couple of idiots parked their car on the track just to ruin someone else race but definitely in the endurance races they're pretty clean because conserving tyres and avoiding damage is more important than a fast lap

I’ve had a few races in this game. My lobbies were full of what I’d call beginners who are trying their best. So plenty of spins and contact, but it didn’t seem intentional, especially after looking at the replays. Just mistakes or bad decision making. I didn’t experience this kind of craziness, but then again the last time I played was a few weeks ago

Absolutely, you don’t mind seeing honest mistakes in a beginners’ race, and I was expecting that (I mean, I had a couple of little spins myself while trying to get used to it). Sorry to hear about your frustration, but I really had a laugh seeing all this carnage. 😅 I hope you'll get a better race next time. I don't find the races too bad in lmu, but I have seen similar kamikaze drivers.
Oh wow - I just have no words for the driving standards in this one. Absolutely crazy! May not have been the race you were hoping for, but at least you made it through alive 👍🏻
Yeah this is true! I’d have been raging if I was one of the drivers taken out at T1! 11th to 4th is a decent result, just not achieved in the way I’d have liked. Cheers 😃
Yeah, the crashes looked really good, to be fair. I particularly like the way the rear wings fall off. The skids, slides and tyre smoke looks good too.
Yeah, you can’t blame the sim for the behaviour of individuals. As for the sim itself, I’ll echo what others have said… it feels exactly like you could be driving a new rF2 DLC (which is good for me, as I like the rf2 physics). One other good thing… it recognised my TM wheel and pedals, and configured them automatically. So the setup was a lot easier than rf2!
I like the way you roll & your commentary & editing is brilliant (show casing all the incidents throughout the race)👍. That's a new interpretation of a rolling start🤣 I was wondering what the are they doing reversing into you, then i noticed there's no reverse lights🤣. Sorry you had such a bad first race/impression, some mothers do have them🤦♂(reminded me of early days AC in public lobbies). Defiantly give it another go or few probably just an unlucky lobby.

Hey Andy, there’s no official way to do it in-game currently, but I found a workaround on RU-vid… check out @roy_33nl36 and his video guide. It’s a little complicated but works well!
Yeah, there’s no way to view them officially in-game at the moment, but there IS a workaround. It’s quite complicated to explain, but check out the @roy_33nl36 RU-vid channel - Roy has done a guide on how to access it, and this is what I followed 👍
Good to hear this type of race is an exception to the norm. Also heard today that the driver here has been banned, so it’s great LMU have acted so quickly. Gives me more hope to give it another try 😃 Thanks
Yeah, I couldn’t believe it when he came back past me when I had that spin halfway around lap 1. To cause all that carnage in T1, smash into multiple cars at full speed, smash into the barrier, and still be able to rejoin inside the top 5!
@@chrisrogerssimracing it's just really against the spirit of things. I actually refunded the game, without trying the online but maybe was a good thing. I haven't touched iracing for a few weeks waiting for the rain next week but I have a feeling this will be the majority of wet races 😂😂😂
Great comms as usual Chris, you should be doing RL comms for BTCC or similar. LMU isnt all that bad at all so ive found, that martinez was shocking, go play wreckfest martinez.
Your going to get this in the first race or two, being in VR I am yet to enjoy the online experience. RF2 racing has been the cleanest I have had in any online sim. Start right from the back might be the best idea to get out of the clown split.
Yeah I always enjoy rf2 when I race it, so knew I’d like the general physics and handling of this sim. Would be good to find better online races though, even if it does mean a bit of SR farming in the short term. Cheers!
I now have 6 races on my LMU counter. 5 of them were qite OK from driving standards. Not without incidents, but not these intentional crashes. It seems that having no ABS and not the best TC makes the transfer from ACC a bit challenging for some drivers (including me). One of these races i screwed up by myself cause i flatspotted all 4 tires in the T1 breaking zone :( But all in all it was fun, and the lobbys were fitting my driving skills. So, i would suggest to give it another chance. Especially LMP2 is cool and a good variation to GT driving.

Great video, but certainly not how i experienced the driving standards, in about 15 races i have done now, 13 of them were in the beginner races, i only had 1 bad experience with 1 individual that went berserk, reported him, something i hope you and others have done with mr Martinez as well, as that T1 seems intentional, as well as him moving across the track at Radillon after his crash. BTW, great that we can load in replays now, isn't it... 😉
Ahh Roy, I’ve been meaning to get in touch about your guide… when I realised there were no replay functions in-game, I searched Google for solutions and found your post in a forum (or Reddit, can’t quite remember where). Huge help! Without replays, I coulrnt make a video on LMU. Thank you mate 😃
@@chrisrogerssimracing Yeah, great to be able to help a lot of people out, i missed the replay functions as well, as i tend to watch replays on stream after an race, just glad i managed to find this workaround.
Unfortunate this was your first online experience, I hope you reported the guy at the start, they are pretty good at banning such people. The racing I have done has been pretty good but I guess it's just the luck of the draw on who you are matched up with. Should get better as you improve DR and get matched with higher ranked drivers. LMP2's are pretty amazing to drive.

Yeah, I was fully prepared to report Martinez but some of the guys who got taken out must have already done it, as he’s been banned for 7 days. So at least they’re acting quickly on these issues, which is good.
Anyone who's been racing online on open public servers has seen this behavior before. It's a shame and makes no sense to me what is gained by it. That said, I think all online servers should be ban people that do this for an amount of time that would deter this, like 2 weeks.
Yeah, that’s it… I’ve seen it happen at least once in every sim I’ve raced online. Thankfully it only happens very rarely. Fair play to the LMU team here, they acted quickly and handed the guy a ban 👍
That’s exactly what it reminded me of! Back when I got Forza Motorsport on the Xbox, and tried an online race… T1 was exactly like that! Thankfully I discovered sim racing soon after!
you were definitely unlucky however i have seen sone drivers complaining about being crash out on discord. I personally have had a normal experience that i would expect from any online platform so no complaints from me. If it was your first race you will be at the botton of the pile until you raise your rating and leave the idiots behind thankfully doesn't take too long if you keep it clean.

Also this is from the discord aswell. First offense is 7 days, 2nd is 30 days, 3rd is indefinite. So hopefully that will put people off driving so bad.
Bloody hell Chris..That is the worst i have seen..I have managed 2 races on LMU so far, and i must admit its been really good.... Stick with it mate, regroup and go again. i cant beleive how many DNF's there were in that race lol...Most caused by one guy it seems, that hopefully will get reported and banned :).... a great vid as always :)
Cheers Nick, yeah another viewer has just let me know that the guy has been banned, so it’s really encouraging that they’ve acted swiftly. I was planning on reporting him, but hoped that one of the guys taken out had already done it. Definitely an example of one person ruining it for everyone! Hopefully I’ll avoid a similar one next time!
That's unfortunate mate. I think it was just bad luck that you got that lobby. I've only seen stuff like this in one race in LMU so far. My other races have been much more fun than it looks like you had here. Give it another go when you got time.

@@chrisrogerssimracing How did you get to see the replay of your race? I don't see any options in LMU for that. I tried copying the replay file to rF2 to play there but when it starts to load rF2 crashes.
@@EhPlusSimRacing Yeah, there’s no way of ‘officially’ viewing it in-game currently, but there is a somewhat complicated workaround… I followed the guide from @roy_33nl36 on his RU-vid channel. You just have to remember to bind all the keys for cameras etc first, as there’s no on-screen HUD to use
Well it all depends on the idiots you meet in the lobby but remember these special gems are available in all rank levels you have to learn to detect them.
Yeah exactly. Luckily it was easy for me to detect this one, as I was just far enough back at T1. It’s why I was in no hurry to start battling with him at the start of lap 2… knew he’d bin it if I waited a bit 🤣
The SPA races are particularly bad with 5-7 DNF in every race. The driver ramming was terrible. The Intermediate races (SR silver) are really clean and good though. To be honest most of the other tracks in rookie have been good (even monza), just SPA is a disaster with new drivers going 4 wide into corner one. Thanks for the Content. Great job!

Yes you did get unlucky. I have about 15 race under the belt on this sim and only one of them was bad, but not this bad. Give it another try, this sim is amazing. Also, being a new sim, we probably need to wait for ratings to settle
Yeah the sim itself seemed really good. I like the way rF2 handles, so I was confident I’d enjoy this one too. Just really unlucky that my one and only online race ends up being this one. I’ll be back to give it another try 😃
In 3 races I have disconnected once two corners before the end, and destroyed in t1 at monza. I do not count the number of time the game crash in menu or impossible to go on practice server that seems to have available slots. Going back to iracing.
Yeah it’s still very glitchy. In my practice server, it crashed when I tried to adjust fuel load and I got booted out. So for this race, I didn’t touch anything… just ran a sprint race with default 80L of fuel 🤣 certainly still needs a lot of work
I have been doing the online racing from day one and I have never seen anything like that . I hope the drivers involved in that report him for his driving antics I have had some brilliant racing so far in LUM I think you just got one off the worst spill for you first race but definitely do more it brilliant 👍🏁
Thank you William, yeah sadly it only takes one driver to ruin a race. I suspect the top 5 on the grid were all decent racers who I could have battled with, it was a shame they all got wiped out so early
I think it's just a mix of new game + public lobbies. ACC isn't better either in public lobbies and I also made the same experience in RaceRoom. Games like these only really make sense in closed communities and leagues or at least with a strict online ranking system like LFM or the one in RaceRoom. I know there's a similar system in LMU but as you can see no one really cares. At least not that early in the state of the game. :

No surprise about driving standards on the beginner series. You can just buy the game and jump into this series without proving anything first. Its really good for honing your own avoidance skills.
Haha yeah. I fully expected lots of crashes, spins and mistakes as it’s a rookie series. But I hoped they’d all be honest mistakes. It’s the intentional wreck in I can’t accept. Even if I did profit from it on this occasion… never expected I’d get a P4! 🤣
Great video (again) Chris apart from the idiotic drivers. Nearly dipped my toe in last night but time got the better of me. I really like the sim and hopefully it'll be fantastic once they get everything implemented.
Cheers Stu. First impressions on everything else was decent. Spa looked great, very bright and colourful. Car sounds were very good, and handled just like in rf2 (which of course is a very good thing too). I’m not bothered about the bugs, as they should get ironed out over time. The first session I tried, it crashed when I attempted to change fuel load! So decided not to risk it and ran this sprint race with default 80L in the tank!
I've only had one bad race out of 12. Been very good so far. You were just unlucky. the starts are a bit chaotic with the short rolling start though. Often see people randomly moving forwards/backwards before it goes green.
Thanks Mike, I did suspect I may just have been very unlucky. The start was really bizarre, and my 2x incident points must have been for the grid contact, because I didn’t touch anyone in the race. Felt like the end of lap 3 when the lights went green, with the cars all so spread out! Hoping for a bit more luck when I get the chance to try a second race 🤞
I noticed it got pretty bad recently. I think it's due to all the actually good drivers getting sr silver and participating in other events outside of bronze
Yeah, very good point. The serious players who’ve been on it for a few weeks have probably graduated. So with me joining late, I’m probably in with the casuals and people who aren’t really worried about taking it seriously. I need to get promoted!
I have very mixed opinions on the online mode. I have had some good races, and some terrible ones. For example this one person decided to drive the other way in the track and purposely crash into people because they said “game sucks, play something else”.
I’ll never understand the mentality of some people, why they feel the need to ruin the enjoyment of others just because they don’t like it themselves 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah, that pretty much sums up my spin halfway around the first lap. I was carrying a touch too much speed, but wasn’t expecting the spin. Really caught me out.
I did the same rookie race and I couldn’t take Eau Rouge / Radillon without nursing the car through the curves and nearly oversteering into the barrier even after some practice. That’s not how I’m used to taking those corners in literally any other sim. Something is wrong here.

I haven't played it but it does look like that particular driver was exploiting the fact that there doesn't seem to be a penalty system in the game as yet. I couldn't see one anyway. Once he'd skittled half the field, he was trying to make a race of it but was all over the place. Probably come off the back of some Forza sessions. I doubt the devs will be banning anyone soon, so this kind of behaviour will crop up from time to time. You were lucky to come through unscathed by the looks of it.

Not had this experience at all however have noticed that the rookie lobbies aren't as clean, seems to be rookies and spa is a dangerous concept combo. Intermediate lobbies are so much better

@@chrisrogerssimracing I've seen people make mistakes but nothing like what you were part of. Last week's GTE Rookie fixed was Monza and didn't see a single Monza T1 disaster which seriously impressed me
Just checked, moved up to Silver 1 SR after 7th daily race. They weren't without the odd incident and invalid lap. Also bear in mind qualy goes towards SR, so complete as many clean laps in that. I
Well, when the devs mais objective is to bring new players at all cost, disregarding the competitive enviroment that online race should have, that's what you get. Such a shame, a great sim with one of the best physics and systems simulated, tainted by the devs allowing all the arcadish driving aids to be used in the online system, and not penalyzing dirt drivers. If you treat your game in an arcade manner, you will attract arcade players to it.
Yeah, I’m guessing damage is reduced in these online servers, because there’s no way Martinez should be able to get right back on track and race in the top 5 after smashing into multiple cars (and then the barrier) at full speed. I’m all for a bit of leniency with damage models, but this is WAY too lenient.

Unfortunately it only takes one bad driver with the mentality of a pea to unleash mayhem and destroy a race. I've not dipped my toe into this sim waiting for AC2. Get some bandages and give it another go m8t. 👍
Thanks Tony. I mean, I shouldn’t grumble too much, I got a P4 because of it 🤣 But I prefer my online races to ‘feel’ like a real motor race, and this certainly didn’t. Will give it another try. Like you though, I’m eagerly awaiting AC2.

Make few races to gain DR and SR will make u moove to cleaner split, but yeah daily short race are hard, i prefer long weekly or special events race, peolpe have more respect
The worst racing I have seen I must say, Think I will wait a bit before I buy it because that would really P**** me off, other that that Chris great stuff has always.

Ah man, you really do get some of the worst grids sometimes. You need to try and make one of the La Broca LDFR community races, they are far more civilised.
Yeah they always look great. Trouble for me is I’m rarely keen on racing in the evenings. I tend to do my racing in the mid to late afternoons, wherever possible. I’m an early bird… anything after 8pm and I’m too tired to concentrate 🤣
Yeah, it was such a messy race, it’s easy to forget that it was all caused by just one person. Had that driver not entered, it might well have been a clean and decent race. Like you say, could happen in any sim… I’ve seen intentional wreckers in ACC, RaceRoom and iRacing races before. Thankfully it doesn’t happen very often.
Yeah the slides caught me out a couple of times in this one. And seeing how the guy in front of me was sliding through the corners on lap 1, that seemed a bit strange.
Yes, bad luck in your race. I am bronze low level and people behave, still as*#!ls will always be (in all sims) that is why if I can't do pole, I prefer be last and dodge all chaos.

Why do people these types of games if all they're ant to do is just smash in to other drivers, there are so many other games where you can actually do that

I love online racing for its unpredictability. Trying to assess real-life drivers around you, where they’re strong, where they’re weak, and finding a way past, is my favourite challenge in sim racing. AI offline racing is decent, but it just doesn’t have the same appeal to me. However, after online races like this, I start thinking maybe I should do more AI racing instead 🤣
