Ernestine Schumann-Heink, née Rössler (15 June 1861 - 17 November 1936), was a German Bohemian, later American, operatic contralto, noted for the size, beauty, tonal richness, flexibility and wide range of her voice.
Range, coloratura and trill all amazing but to be honest sustained upoer tones are often hooty or off key. Perhaps the ancient recordingis partly responsible
@@-uda2672 So the music melody, the breath, the enunciation are all affected. Her voice position is not uniform. It's just not obvious in this kind of music, but still can be heard.
@@belcanto9387 , stiamo ascoltando una cantante che ha studiato nel pieno 800...il disco è del 1909 e non possiamo avere delle pretese e un po per l'incisione e un po per i suoni un po fissi alla tedesca bisogna essere indulgenti e constatare solo che la voce era bellissima, da vero contralto e non mezzosoprano scuro e dalla seconda metà del Novecento voci così non esistevano più. Puoi non piacere il gusto ma sono passati 120 anni e nell'Ottocento si cantava così, anche la Grisi e la Pasta e la Pisaroni saranno state simili. Comunque che fascino. La Horne, Verrett, la Forrester si vanno a nascondere.
