Bonjour merci moment exceptionnel. Il reste dans ma mémoire. Merci beaucoup Alain Delon.
OMG I'm in love with Jean-Pierre Melville who had great admiration for Delon. This story lay deep in his heart from childhood. The way he pitched it to Delon--and the actor's subsequent reaction--is a gut-wrenching story itself and leaves you with a burning respect for both men. Beautiful craftsmanship. Attention to every detail.
nate connor fucked that one up as well...third times a charm hopefully. i give you my Le Samourai tattoo: scontent-a.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/10852703_1579215442312273_887739313_n.jpg thought the sword would be a nice touch, to add that bushido influence/vibe to the image of Delon which I think came out legit. anyone who sees it let me know what you think the top tattoo should be easy enough to recognize i hope; plan is to continue filling out my right leg with pieces inspired by my favorite works of art/music/literature/entertainment, for example i already got Le Samourai & The Mars Volta (De-Loused album cover) ;)
it's really just shade over the eyes, there's a black outline beneath the black shading if you see it in person. from the common poster image there's a lot of shadows on his face due to the light overhead from standing in police lineup thing
Are most people who see the Delon tattoo confused by the picture or your explanation of its inspiration? I think I've only met one or two people who have actually seen the film. It probably depends on where you're located. I'm around a bigger city now (Baltimore), where there's more people who are actually familiar with and appreciate foreign films.
Following the steps through the maze got them tired. At some point he turned around and walked right through them. They called it faul play. He was no private eye.
I also like the way that instrument sounds. It was probably a Hammond organ, or one of the other types of electric organs popular during the 1960s (or before), although here, the sound that they were going for is decidedly anti-pop and mysterious. I would be curious to know the exact model of the organ, as well. There is some footage of Valérie's organ, right before the end of the film, although I have been unable to identify the type with certainty. My best guesses are either one of the Hammond variations, or likely another company's electric organ of French or otherwise European manufacture. There is also the possibility that the instrument was an extremely early synthesizer, although not a Moog Minimoog, as the prototype of that was not invented, yet, until 1969; it most likely had to have been one of those massive wall synthesizers. If I ever find out which instrument it was, I hope I can remember to write the name back here!
I was wondering that too. I do know that this OST had an influence on the writing and recording process of Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino of Arctic Monkeys. Alex, who wrote that album, speaks a lot about vintage synthesisers, pianos and recording gear in recent interviews.
Saludos.
.... *coolest man NOT - he ruined a relationship with Romy Schneider in fact her life .... - he was a Thick Villain & and he will always be ... His acting was bad to mediocre so long as he didnt speak ....JP Melville knew it and he didnt have a talking part for him in Samurai...* .... Butchers hand & dishonorable discharge from the French Legion ... YES COOLEST INDEED .....
his acting wasn't the best by any means, but he's perfect for the part of Jeff Costello, and he's also an extremely good actor in Luchino Visconti's films, and don't tell me it's all Visconti's merit.
