Yes but these singers didn’t voice the characters, they only did the songs. They had completely different actors do the voices of the script, which I just don’t understand
Who's watching this after Disney released the new version of A whole new world by Zayn and Zhavia? Nothing beats original! Lea and Brad are still the best! No auto tune needed, the clarity of voice. It's always magical when I heard this song by the original singers.
@BerxZeusX I have neer heard of Lea using lip sync. I heard her first try at this song with Brad and even that sounded like this video. If you're wondering about not seeing the mike it's because like most plays the mikes are usually in the hair. Lea's and Brads voices are simply a perfect match for this song.

I love Zhavia's voice but I just think her voice doesn't fit the song. It's just not soulful unlike when Lea sings it. No hate though, this is my opinion. Good cover though. :(
@@geek7816 Even if it was for a pop version, they could have chose someone who could harmonize with Zayn's voice better. Don't get me wrong, I love Zhavia's voice. I just think her voice didn't fit well.
This is what I love about the old recording rather than the new version. It lost that feeling of "youth" and real "wonder". Others just made it more like a contest of who sang it the highest note and made it more stylish. When we fell in love with it for the old real reason in the first place.
To Matt McGuire: Actually, she admitted in one of her interviews that they had to lip sync in this performance. She said that while they were rehearsing, she and Brad sang it live (and initially that was the plan all along). But the problem was, the machine that made the carpet looked like flying was whirring so loud that they can barely hear their voices. So it was then decided to lip sync in this performance.
I remembered watching this scene on the Academy in 1993!!! And how proud I felt as a Filipino watching and listening to a Filipino perform and sing this song in front of million viewing audience around the world!!!
This shows you the extraordinary talent that was around in the 1990's and sadly today's music and artists do not even come close to these two... Beautifully written song and performed by two fantastic talented singers... I really miss those times.
Brad's outfit looks like Aladdin's in Live Action version. Lea is so beautiful. It was 'indescribable' perfomance. They came on a magic carpet to sing to the audience.

You see, Lea Salonga's Filipino and I think the person said that because she pronounced the English lyrics very well like she's actually English. Well, I'm not saying that all Filipinos have bad English pronunciation, we were born to learn the language anyway, but some Filipinos just pronounce English words.... Funny or with a Filipino accent. I'm saying this as a Filipino myself, not to be racist or anything.

Honestly, I like Mena and Naomi’s version better. And Zayn and Zhavia is definitely better singing, but I don’t think it really fits with the song, so I can’t compare them. Lea Salonga is a goddess though.

I still remember reading Ms. Lea's name in our book for being one the legends who helped put our country in the map, and then when I heard her voice, I got speechless. I was about 7 back then, but even so, it was still one of the most beautiful songs and voices that I've ever heard. Brad is wonderful too. This song never could've been complete if not for his voice to balance out Ms. Lea's. Two legends indeed.
