At tonight's #Ham4Ham, we welcomed Lea Salonga, star of Allegiance and the original voice of Jasmine in Disney's "Aladdin". She joined Lin Manuel Miranda and Alex Lacamoire for a special #Ham4Ham version of "A Whole New World"!

Why isnt she cast in more Disney films? Her voice is so beautiful and natural no need to belt a vocal to get a reaction. Pure and one of best voices to this day, better than the current ott voices Disney has going.
She’s already a Disney legend, others deserve a chance too. There’s such thing of too much of a good thing, you can find plenty more content of her apart from Disney too.
As someone from the Philippines who can understand the song Lin wrote for his girlfriend, I swear it's better than most songs we hear on our radio. As for the duet, well, I expected nothing less from my two favorite human beings in the world!
The amazing thing about Lea is you don't just see her singing on big stages or on Broadway or in Disney movies. You also see her singing in real life, in her home with her $30 dollar Apple earbuds, in a bar singing to her friends without even a microphone or just by the street with minimum equipment. How many singers can actually do that? She is an OG Disney princess but she never takes herself seriously. She is funny and has a bubbly personality. A lot of Disney fans don't even know who Lea is, but if they find out, they will be a life long fan.
although that would likely be the one good thing in that movie if that happened, i think lea's voice would be blasphemed to be grouped with that movie. i rather it stay with the legendary version. also let's pretend that movie doesn't exist ;)
I hugged Lea Salonga before, and now she's singing with Lin-Manuel. THAT'S IT. I CONSIDER MYSELF HAVING SECOND-DEGREE ASSOCIATION WITH HIM. (consolations of a theatre fan who'll never view Hamilton when Lin is inside)
I was there earlier today when they performed this but was stuck really far into a corner and hardly got to see Lea. The fact that the Hamilton team films these things and puts them up online makes me so freaking happy.
Lin's face watching Lea sing is the cutest thing I've seen all day. I love that he's as big of a musical theatre geek as all of us, it makes me feel better!
Amazing how consistent Lea's voice is.... Wherever it is, a club, a street performance, at Carnegie Hall - throughout the years!! Truly a broadway legend, LOVE it to Lin speak Tagalog... pretty cool!
Lin looks so cute when he's mortified. Also, Lea can take ANY song - absolutely any song! - and make it sound so precious. Best #Ham4Ham show so far (yes, this topped my favorite, the 3 King Georges doing The Schuyler Sisters)!

I love this! I love how excited Lin-Manuel is when he gets to sing Alladan's parts. It's like he has been waiting to do that forever. 😀 Lea, your voice is as beautiful as ever. You should do more Ham4Hams. ❤
It means: "Hey , let's drive in my car. I don't have any money, I don't have any money. We can drive to my house. I got the keys to my room, there's no one in the place, it's completely ours. You slip off your slippers, I take off my shoes and I'll sing for your ring, sing for your ring" Pretty clever especially for the last part, because singsing in tagalog actually means ring. so when he wrote singsing for your ring, it is actually wordplay as in sing, singsing and ring.

I don't know why but that song gives me shivers every time i hear it. I watched it all the time in my early childhood. Now I'm a High Schooler, obsessed with Hamilton and Broadway, and i hear Lin singing this. I have never felt more full-circle in my life. Thank you, Lin. Thank you.
@@からさ-h3t oh come on, nobody says Fil-Glish. And there are plenty of Spanish loan words in modern tagalog. When people say tagalog, they're refering to the catch-all dialect most often used in Manila, not the old school regional one. Hardly anyone refers to the dialect as filipino.

A Whole New World is where I’ll be every time Lea sings her part. It doesn’t matter who the male voice is and whether there’s a whole band, a piano or that tiny instrument, whenever she comes out with that beautiful voice, I’m in nostalgic land.
I've attended a handful of Ham4Hams, but this one was hands down my favorite, even if I could barely see. I still come back to this one over and over again. SO beautiful and sweet.
She still sounds as good as she did with this song's original recording. If there are people who don't look like they age as they grow old. Lea's voice is just like that.
