As part of a master class held on March 23, 2015 at Council Rock High School South in Holland, PA, The incomparable Lea Salonga performs a medley of I Dreamed a Dream and On My Own from Les Miserables.
Its amazing her voice hasn't changed in almost 30 years... Wow. She did Miss Saigon when she was 18, she's 46 now. I don't know how her voice retained its tonal quality... Her vocals are still as crystal-clear, elastic, and theatrical as how they were in her prime... Her diction/phrasing is still always on point... And definitely the best portrayal of Eponine, the Broadway and Disney legend, Ms. Lea Salonga.
Deandre Gimeno. She spends hours a day at work with her voice. Theres no other way to maintain a vocal range and strength as we age without it. After not performing for more than ten years I lost the majority of my 4 oct. Range but after working at home daily, and rehearsels in six months i got it back...and I'm 53.
pookiebear364: Either you are ridiculously exaggerating or you are a real Bass with highly extreme Counter Tenor abilities. 4 octaves is the whole range of human voices from Bass to Soprano...
I like how she transformed into Fantine when she sang I dreamed a dream... And how she was able to put up Eponine's character when the song changed to On my own... Then back again to being Fantine... She's just amazing... 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I really liked the high school audience, they were enthusiastic at the beginning, listened intently through out Miss Lea's performance then gave a thunderous applause. So appreciative.
John Nieves I agree that Lea's voice is perfect! I'm not sure what "international singers" means... but there are many singers from all over the world that sing out of tune, and also many singers that sing very well in tune!
I thought it was kinda cool.... a gracious and kind professional performer showing her qualities ...not even minding that a" no one " won the once in a lifetime privilege of doing his best for her.( These things used to happen much more often in days past.) This is how you " take what comes along " when the magic is from your voice and not autotune , background music or even orchestra . Nice to see......
There will always be people who will like or dislike other people because if they don't, there will be no critics. And if there is no critics, either desirable or undesirable, then there is nothing to talk about. Lea Salonga is an endangered specie in the theater world, and whether the world agree with me or not, she is simply the best!
Roberto Butz I totally agree with you but there is also Rachel Ann Go with a strong voice. Leah Salonga is nothing to compare to anyone, she's totally different.
Lea sounds unbelievable, and you can tell she is absolutely a professional in the way she was able to sound amazing despite the piano situation. Not only was the piano out of tune, but the poor pianist didn’t sound like he had accompanied people frequently because he didn’t follow her very well. But I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, as I suspect he was star struck or nervous! I know I would be!
I grew up listening to her Eponine . My mom’s patient would watch a recording of that show every day. Pretty much saw her performance almost everyday for several years. I never got tired of it. I love her voice so much... 😭
I love how every single world is sang with meaning. You can see her physically make sure every word is perfect and articulate and the best she can do. Leagues above other people. She’s so amazing.
I've worked with her lately. She still have the same perfect voice and.enunciation. She is our PRIDE. She also just finished a concert with Josh Groban.
Your school is very lucky. That woman is a gem. A rare gem. Nothing like her crystal clear voice on this planet. Pitch perfect. It's a shame that a percentage of her own countrymen thinks that belting and screaming is tantamount to good singing. They keep forgetting that a good voice, that the world adores more, is Lea's voice. Clean, crystal without unnecessarily belting and screaming.
I agree with everyone..this is perfection! I feel like I'm hearing this live, like I'm seated with the audience there..I so love Lea Salonga along with the rest of the world! :)
Actually she's the voice of "Little Mermaid princess Ariel" when princess Ariel samg the song part of your word. That is why, Lea Salonga has been dubbed as Disney Princess.
Jodi Benson was the singing voice of ariel and Meg Ryan was the speaking voice.. However lea was the singing voice for mulan and jasmine... Speaking voice was Ming na-wen and Linda larkin respectively.. And for the sequels of alladin it was Liz Callaway singing voice of jasmine and anastasia
She is a top calibre Filipina singer... she's one of a kind Outstanding Filipina Singer and known all over the world, that no one can take her place here in Philippines...We are proud of you MS Lea.
It's like her voice is tailored for masterpieces and Disney songs. Just saw her cover of Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World" with Seth Rudetsky. And it was bomb. Wow.
The impact you caused in my life is greater than THE Big Bang theory. You helped me to view life in a new and awesome perspective! In short, thanks for always keeping me INSPIRED! ;')
lES MISERABLES is, and continues to be the Greatest Musical and Story EVER. I have read Victor Hugo's Book, seen a number of dramatic versions on TV,Seen the Stage Show and the Musical Version and watched Videos so many times....i will NEVER tire of watching and listening to this MASTERPIECE of Literature and Theatre.
I love Lea Salonga and her songs which brings me back at the time when I was watching the movie with my two young daughters that got me emotional. Watching from Illinois USA: 05-26-2021.
I started watching her sing on television in the Philippines when she was just a little girl. Her voice is as perfect as ever.... She's one of the best.
Yes indeed, the school is surely blessed to have guested a world-class artist in the like of Ms. Lea Salonga. And, she is so generous to share her artistic talent and knowledge to the young kids out there. Splendid!
My favourite! Hands down! She can get right into character -- not just her voice -- but her emotions interlaced with the lyrics, her eyes visioning the scenes. Very moving right from the first note. And she's giving her 100 per cent even not in a theatre and other cast members. LOVE her!
The pianist struggled on the first part. But Leah still managed to perform well and stay in tune. Such a wonderful and great artist. She’s really a musical genius.
