This is a important video on desulfation of lead acid batteries. It is a very important method, to extend the life and desulfate using Epson salt and pulse technology to increase the amps capacity and amp and cold cranking amp or cca of a sulfate sulfated lead acid battery. Lead-Acid Batteries can become sulfated or build up sulfate over time, requiring desulfation to correct the sulfate problem of the battery. the use of a epson salt and capacitive battery charger can correct this disastrous. Just make sure you do you desulfate your lead-acid batteries carefully. Using a capacitive battery charger to pulse the battery can help break down the sulfate and restore the amps and cold cranking amps. This method of desulfation is very important. Desulfate and recycle! Sulfate build up is bad! Mmmmkay! This method is also a good way to recycle lead acid batteries, as recycling is good, ok!

You might try taking a a clothes hanger in ur dead cell make an L shape the idea being there might be a pile off metal shavings or gunk at the bottom of the cell if u knock it the pile down so its not touching the bottom of the plates ur cell will not be shorted. the only other way is to remove the acid n liquid n then try n wash it out with water but that is a big hassal.

This is very interesting but watched the whole series of videos and not sure this 'Epsom salt' method works. One problem is that you're not actually flushing the cells, your just adding Epsom salt. I'm thinking that you need a syringe type of thing to drain the cells and refill them to clean out the gunk floating in the electrolyte. I can understand not turning the battery upside down to drain it as that could stir up a lot of lead and other metals that could lead to further unnecessary damage.

1- Those reading are in milli-ohms not ohms. That small m stands for milli (1/1000 ohm) 2- That charger you make (made), is very dangerous. There is no isolation from a transformer and no current limiting. There are no pulses, as the capacitor smooths out the 120 Hz, into a DC. It's called an unregulated power supply. 3- Your dry cough is concerning. If you are a smoker, stop immediately. If you're not a smoker, see you doctor ASAP. I caution the viewers not to use this type of a charger, as there is a good chance, the battery will explode when under charge, sooner or later.

Puting un-dissolved Epson salt into the cell battery cause the cell to short. Should of dissolved Epsom Salt first and use less of it

That truly is a very nice tester for the price. I compared the voltage readings with a Fluke, though, and found that the displayed voltage was off by around 0,2V. I opened the case and adjusted the trimpot next to the IC. Counterclockwise raises the voltage and vice-versa. Now It's bang on. Calibration should be done with a healthy battery, otherwise the voltage will swing like crazy and you can't get a stable reading.

Have you tried taping or knocking on the wider part of a battery while testing or charging and probably improve reading ? ( be surprise sometime ). I screwed around a lot with the same project battery only to end up to deceiving result.

Do u ever drain the Epsom salt from the battery? I noticed you said the deep cycle battery looked dirty after the salt had been in it for a while

No, never drained them.

Not a trick. It's a method. I'm happy I found your channel, so I've subscribed.

How much space is there between plates? If there is room to slide some stiff plastic in between the plates you might get lucky and bump a shorting bridge around - maybe even loose!

I contacted you earlier and would now be looking at building several of your chargers. I am looking at golf carts and forklift batteries as well as car, and mobility scooters. can you give me what I need for these chargers and can I buy the bridge rectifiers and capacitors in the sizes I need for the above batteries? Could you build a unit for golf carts fairly soon as I would be interested in one shipment of the above? Can I contact you, I have your phone number can I call you about this?

Interesting ... I think I would drain the battery acid, flush with water to get out any precipitate in the cell compartments, refill with the original acid, top off with epson super-concentrate, desulphate long term, drain, flush again, and then refill with fresh battery acid, and slow charge, Typically cells are shorted either by sludge at the bottom or crystal growth penetrating the insulating mats. Modern battery are made with interleaved lead mesh and porous insulation ... not lead grills/grates of the past eras. 'jes sain'

Hi Kman . hope you recovered from your cold faster than some of the batteries did from sulfation. Many thanks for that very instructive video, it was a real pleasure watching it. kkep posting your experiences, many thanks.

On that Alum issue, you can't add alum to sulfuric acid typical of a car battery. It will react violently. Converting a battery to alum requires completely flushing the battery using diluted sodium bicarbonate to neutralize the battery acid and is very dangerous,.

Good video series. I noticed in your Part 3, when putting powdered Epsom Salts into the battery, that you only put a bit into the 'shorted' cell. I think you'd do better to put MORE Epsom Salt in the shorted cell.

At the end he says that his theory is that is does work, as long as the battery isn't too damaged already. Good info in this series. At the very least, you can use them to arc weld if you don't feel like buying a machine for it xD.
