Sir David Attenborough is amazing. I could hear him read the phone book and I'd be intrigued. These geckos are cute.

great aesthetic design on that gecko. though the lack of eyelids was a mistake.

These geckoes look very fit for a semi-aquatic life style. They have a flattened paddle-like tail, webbed feet and hands, and a flat body.
@naeff002
@naeff002 9 лет назад
These are not semi-aquatic animals. They are arboreal animals, there tail is part of there camouflage. There tail looks like a leaf. That's why they are called leaf tailed geckos. There from the family Uroplatus and only life on Madagascar. If you look for Uroplatus phantasticus you can recognize the leaf in there tail.

You know, that could be a possibility of their evolutionary past

If it were flattened laterally like a marine iguana or a sea snake then sure, but dorsally compressed animals like leaf-tailed geckoes are not very well adapted to swimming as they can't move their tail up and down like a manatee.

Also, a lot of these interactions are staged in huge terrariums. Not all, but many of them are. There are entire production companies that make livings from having aquariums and terrariums for filming, BBC has used them in the past.

The Gecko when climbing up stood/trampled all over the caterpillar while climbing, hence its 'retaliation'.

It's interesting that it's eyes are looking forward. I was taught to understand that forward looking eyes belong primarily to predators. Though, this creature is a predator in its own it is certainly not anywhere near the top of any food chain. So what gives?
@InfamousWolf1
@InfamousWolf1 8 лет назад
I think it's camouflage makes up for the front facing eyes
@rjv
@rjv 6 лет назад
Eyes on front need not necessarily be for higher level predators. Some fruit eating animals including primates evolved front facing eyes because binocular vision helps perceive depth and also allows you to "see through" leaves. A huge advantage in the leafy environment of tree tops There's a video title "Human Predator: Eyes in front explored" which gives some background on this. I think you'll like it
