I shave my head more than my face (beard) and the Leaf is perfect for it if you use the right blades. Closer than anything else I shave with. Nice video and review.
I have t really noticed the third blade until this shave but thNkfully I do t get arritation from it. I do like how you can load 1,2 or 3 blades at your own discretion! Great razor!
Great shave once again Cris. This razor is warming up to me. I was hesitant at first, because it reminded me too much of a cartridge razor, but it's really changing my mind. I may have to get one, even though their quality control doesn't seem too notch. Im going to think about this one..... But still, fantastic shave Cris, and glad to see you healing up well.
got one yesterday: first shave with 3 blades was a bit bloody, todays shave with 2 blades was near perfect. I tried DE razors befor but I have to be soo carefull with them on my neck that I had to try the leaf and its perfect for me as a not well versed one in DE razors. If you are already good with them I dont think you need one, if not its superb or if you need something faster.
Great review and shave Cris! I enjoyed the unboxing as well, looks to be a pretty darn good razor, I’d loose my mind trying to load it as I have enough problems with a DE hahah. Have a great day my friend.
After shaving with a Gillette Sensor for about 30 years I realized how much the cartridges were costing me. And how wasteful they were. So I bought a double edged razor, a brush and some shaving soap. I’ve been hacking my face to pieces for several weeks now. I’ve gotten a little better but it’s slow going. It’s hard to change something you’ve been doing for decades. I ordered a Leaf to see if it would help. They have a 30 day money back deal and that’s what finally convinced me to try it. I’m glad I did. It came today and I just shaved with it for the first time. There’s basically no learning curve. I was able to shave much like I did before with no cuts. The size of the head is my only complaint. I find it hard to get my sideburns and under my nose. I think my new routine will be to use the Leaf for everything except sideburns and under my nose. For that I’ll keep using my Sensor or the DE razor if I can get used to it. Maybe I’ll eventually get the hang of the DE razor and switch to it. Or maybe I’ll stay with the Leaf. I might order the Twig for the detail work. Either way, I’m not going back to expensive and wasteful cartridges. Thanks for your video. If it weren’t for RU-vid reviews I wouldn’t have known about this thing.
Been using the D.R Harris Arlington stick on holiday and with my Simpson's brush is providing incredibly slick cover. Really looking forward to trying the Gillette when I get home to Scotland as it may well be a great travel option. The Leaf does look a work of art, but as you said, so much work goes into that head, it's a bit of a nuisance having to use something different for under the nose. Great shout-out to the King of Kings 👍🍀
The king was a beast for sure! The leaf is a little bit finicky to load but I managed with 1.25 arms easy enough lol. The twig is getting an upgrade and for the sake of a few seconds with the twig I get an amazingly close shave! Superb
The best razor I have ever used period! I will not use my DE razor anymore, after using this Leaf! What an awesome shave this razor gives,it’s soo smooth and I always get a bbs shave.
Yep, I don’t pay too much attention to his scores as it’s subjective of course. Though there are a few of his scores that are way off, on the whole they are similar to my choices too!
It certainly improved the shave with Palmolive lather shave. Added way more slickness and improved the lather. I didn’t notice much with other better quality creams
It's basically a more ecp. Friendly and cheaper to. Use cartridge razor as it's full recyclable and the blade are half de/safety blades so it's way cheaper than buying new cartridges
I'm thinking of getting a Chubby 2, Cris, but I hear the labels can come off. You look after your hardware, so you've surely heard the rumor. I have a precedent to share. I own an Omega Model 20102 boar brush. It's charming and fills a gap in my den. But they say its label comes off a lot. I decided to get one and to nail polish the label, figuring that for less than US$15 I didn't care (a) if it was really needed, (b) if it would work, and (c) how it affected the brush's appearance. The label has stayed on, but I don't know if I'd have as easy a time reaching the same decision with a Chubby 2. That said, I have yet to see a RU-vid shave video featuring a Simpson brush minus its original label, and that makes me wonder if what they say about the labels is true, or true at most of poorly handled specimens. Please let us know if you've given any thought or come to a view on this issue. Thanks as always.
The label is rock solid mate, the great thing however is that Simpson sell the stickers and they are really cheap. Worse case scenario is buy a couple more. I’m meticulous with my hardware and I don’t see this just falling off over time. If left wet and in sunlight for extended times then yes I would expect it.
Oh, I see now. I hadn't twigged that "2 CHUBBY BEST BADGER" is engraved on. Seeing this, and knowing that "Simpson" labels can be had, I'm good to go. Thanks, guys!
Weather you like Gillett or not, they make some of the best men's products on the market. I actually get a better shave with the mach 3 razor and the pure shaving cream.
Agreed that a cartridge razor outdoes the Leaf for sure, the difference however doesnt change my mind on the cost saving and environmental savings over time too.
