I just bought one and then found your video. I’m happy to see that I can snap a regular bald in half and use that! Can’t wait to try it. I also bought black!
Loved your video, and I made the switch to the Leaf Razor after seeing Baldcafe using it, I got it, but the blades it came with were dull and kinda pulled my hair, so I bought two different ones, Astra Platinum Blades, and the same kind just from Derby off Amazon, used the Astra, as that's what Baldcafe suggested, between the first 2 shaves with the Leaf razors compared to the Astra was leaps and bounds different, better with Astra, I did what you did, let the Razor do it's job, got a completely nice smooth shave, no burns, bumps, irritations, or cuts on my head. Thanks so much for this video, glad I watched it before I shaved last night.
I initially thought that this razor was too expensive and it would probably break. I was wrong. This razor is a godsend for head shaving. I don’t think it’s be great for the face, but I have a beard so non issue. Thanks for the review. I’m glad I took your advice
Take ur alum block if You have one and dampen the handle very lightly and rub the alum block all over the handle. For whatever reason that makes it have crazy good grip. Also leaf will be introducing a rubber grip for the handle also
I've used mine twice now, once with three blades, once with two blades and I might need to return it if I can. For someone that's used nothing but Mach 3's for shaving their head, there is a MASSIVE learning curve with the leaf. I have to go over my head just as many times, I've actualy nicked myself every time(never have with a Gillette) I'll give it a few more goes, but it's it working out very well for me.
It took me about 3 weeks of use before I could use it without cutting myself. With that said, I’ve gone back to the Defender razor since it’s quicker and doesn’t cut me.
I started using a Remington electric about a year ago and have been pretty happy IF I remember to shave at least every other day. But I still grab a disposable now and again (once per month) to get the extra close shave. But great review non the less.
Great shave friend! But for me the best rasor: headblade moto or Gillette fusion prosheild or proglide flexball! . My head is super smooth, no cuts, razor burn. Leaf i don't like Brother! Have a Great day
3 or 4 shaves??? And you do not even have a full head of hair to shave . Then the head soap is $16 bucks, not sure how long it lasts but I guess it is all relative because I can get close to 20 or more HEAD AND FACE shaves off one Gillette Fusion 5. And I shave my full head of stubble every day. So over time the leaf might be worth it but I have tried sooo many razors that I end up back to Gillette. But this is all an opinion and ya know what they say about opinions.
This is a great razor for dome shaving. My friend let me borrow his to try when I was shaving my dome. My favorite razor to use for a dome shave was my Schick Injector. Just subbed! I currently have a handlebar mustache and look forward to seeing some of your reviews for beard products that I could use in the future to help condition the beast. Lol. Have a great day! -Josh
Just received mine today . Took down six days growth like nothing . Definitely better head shave than any cartridge. First shave was with leaf blades. I use all three.
Nice review! I’ve been shaving my head ever since I was in the military... nearly 30 years now, and I haven’t found anything better than my good old Schick, Hydro 5 cartridge razor. I tried the Defender after watching your video review, and wasn’t a fan. It was ok, but for me, didn’t compare to my Schick. I shave my head twice a week, and one cartridge lasts me around two months or so. Probably won’t be trying the Leaf, but I appreciate the work you put into these reviews, and for your your honest opinions on the products you review!
I wonder if my hair is way thicker than yours because a schick hydro 5 blade only lasts me 1 shave and I can’t go against the grain with it fresh out the box. The only cartridge that I can shave against the grain without it pulling is Gillette 5 blade and those cartridges are like 4 bucks each!
Have you seen the vids from Leaf? I just ordered one of these to coz I like its zero waste but better than a DE razor that takes me ages. After ordering I found this vid ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aX2HCPyw5Fw.html that shows you can adjust the aggressiveness by moving the blades. They also do a silicone grip now that I ordered. I need to shave my head but the DE I've been using is so slow shaving is a hassle. Hope this changes that. 🤞🏼
@@NoBSBeardReviews check this out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aX2HCPyw5Fw.html And also they do a silicone grip for it if you hadn't found out since this vid
@@Pkdimmock Indeed I have! I was really keen on one for months but they were out of stock here in the UK. DE takes me ages as well. I love the traditional feel of it, shaving on a Sunday morning to classical music feels grand but it's definitely not a daily driver for me either. And I have to be ultra careful when shaving the back of my head also. I've since found a disposable I like, which gives me much faster shaves but the waste makes me feel guilty, I may have to give the Leaf another try. Cheers!
Great video Matt! I've added this beauty to the must have list! I'm loving my Defender but I like the eco aspect of this design, no cartridges = no plastic waste! 🙏😎
Hello from Antalya, Turkey. I have just bought the Leaf for head shaving and it's a great razor. I used 3 half Astra SP blades and got a few nicks. There is a learning curve but once you are there then you can get a great head shave.
I’ve been shaving my head w a safety razor for about 2 years now. still knick myself every now n then but when I use a traditional cartridge razor I always get razor burn. Might need to try this out. Good vid
I agree-the best headshaver out there! I have been headshaving for years, using the Schick Extreme 3. I tried other types before ending up with the cartridge. Now, however, I get to use my stash of DE blades.
I have tried the leaf, The Twig, Omni shaver, Headblade, Harry’s and the Defender Comparing all my Razors I love the defender the best, I get so many head shaves out of one defender cartridge (very inexpensive) and the closeness, anti clog, etc.. I put the defender miles ahead of my leaf and others. The leaf is ok, just seems a bit over engineered and doesn’t get the job done as well as the defender.
@@chrisscott6835 I like the defender much more than the Omni shaver, The Omni Shaver is very good (I have used for years) but it is also expensive. Right now my favorite Razor is the Defender and it does shave just as close as the Omni.
@@chrisscott6835 I still dislike the leaf a lot, it’s one razor that I own and never ever use. Long term the defender is still much better than any option I have seen because of Quality and cost. I wanted to like Leaf but it is just a hyped up razor that is no better than a lot of alternatives.
hey Matt go to the hardware store look for cans of liquid plastic that you would dip your hand tools in for coating the handles it gives it that rubber grip like you would see on channel locks and it comes in all different colors
A pack of refill cartridges for plastic razors is nearly $40 a pack...The leaf costs as much as 2 refill packs of plastic cartridges...so look at it that way & the leaf is NOT expensive at all...& works THE BEST out of any razor ever invented 🥰
A Gillette angled head handle with single blade safety razors. This razor takes MORE care to prevent nicks and cuts than a cartridge type. At $85 it better be the last razor handle you ever buy.
My biggest issue with this razor is shaving around the ears because of the massive forehead on the top of the razor, kind of a bad design in my opinion. I found it much easier to do with a regular cartridge razor despite all the negatively about it. Probably going to order the leaf twig or the thorn for a better maneuver...
What I've found for myself is that on the second pass, I get more friction/stick. The large flap on the top of the shaver head feels like it doesn't want to drag smoothly and creates friction/drag on it. It's almost like the hair creates a buffer from the skin for the blades to glide through the shaving cream on the first pass and, the second pass where there is significantly more akin contact, it creates drag. Have you noticed this at all? Do you have any advice in this regard. Overall I like the shave, but I do find this aspect more challenging and frustrating compared to traditional cartridges with significant lubrication strips in that same location.
Just about to purchase my Leaf razor and see how things go. Cheers for the review. I'm personally not a beard guy (because I can't grow one), but yours looks fit for a Norse god.
Looks good but seems like a lot of extra work IMO. Usually when I’m shaving my head I don’t really have the time to make 3-4 passes. One thing I love about the Defender razor you showed me is I make one pass and I’m done. How close does it get? Does it beat out the Defender or a Gillette?
@@NoBSBeardReviews I also use the Defender for quick shaves. But I love using my Leaf razor. I use a soft bristle toothbrush and dawn to clean my razor when I do a blade change.
Loving the leaf. I kinda want to try two instead of three blades just so I don’t have a half blade sitting there unused. I feel like it won’t be as close of a shave though. I like feeling no hairs at all when I shave.
Can I ask a question? What are the best blades to buy for this razor. For some reason the single edge blades I bought do not completely lay flat. I have watched loading videos and I have made sure that the blades are secured in the notches on the side but they bow out in the center until I have flattened them with the screw, it's almost as if the blades are too long. The Leaf brand blades fit fine and go in easily so I am very confused. Has anyone else encountered this? Did I just get an off brand? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks for the review man, ive never heard of this razor before untill now, ordered one immediately seems like a great razor for head shaving , easier to use than a DE razor , and cheaper to replace than a mach 3 or Fusion 5 or any other overpriced cartridge razor
If you like the Defender & HeadBlade, I would stick with them. If you are not satisfied, then give the leaf a try. I do find I get a slightly closer shave with the Defender, but the Leaf is more fun to shave with.
Cool razors design! A little pricey... Just looking at this video compared to the Defender video it looks to me like the Defender did a better job in fewer passes at giving you a close shave. Both are good shaves but for the money and quality it seems to me the Defender is tough to beat. Great video as usual!
ty for posting. I use those Mach5's but i think overuse mine bc of pricing (i pay $40 for 8 cartridges). I do use a straight edge for my face and neck and use derby premiums single blades which i like and thinking will be a good fit for this leaf razor. Do you use any other types of blades with your razor that you would recommend? Also how do you think this would work for men who have bumps on the back of their head (not razor bumps, more shaped bumps)? You mentioned having the weight do the work but for me I usually pass my Gilette in the bumped areas a few times to get it clean.
I've been using my Leaf razor for a few months now and I love it. I found that one blade on the Bottom slot is all I need. 2 and 3 blades is a waste. Especially 3 blades. That 3rd blade slot is useless unless you have a lot of growth. As far as the slippery handle, I plasti-dipped mine and it's perfect. I bought the plasti dip at Harbor Freight.
Not a fan of the Leaf razor, I've gotten a couple of nasty cuts from it. However, their Leaf Twig is a fantastic head shaver. You don't need multiple blades, people have really bought into the multiple blade marketing. IMO, the best head shavers are the Leaf Twig and the Henson AL 13 mild or medium. The Henson razor is the #1 head shaver for me by far, give it a shot.
Great Video, only just looking into this Leaf razor as they are available now in the U.K. so the video was awesome. Quick question, how long do the 2 razors you use last? Did you say 3 to 4 shaves?
Thanks.. your explanation was thorough.. how economical it can be on the long run, the fact that you did 3 rounds (which is fine with me).. Even your comment on the black version.. I'm honestly thinking of going with the purple.. I'm checking them out
Nice job Matt. That's my favorite as well. Leaf is coming out with a rubber sleeve for the handle. If you haven't seen my interview with the leaf folks check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W6AGQBUYK9M.html
Hi, I write to you from Italy. I shave my head with DE, but I'd like to buy this razor to have more speed while shaving and more comfort. Is the BBS good? Is it more practical to use than an DE? Tks
It’s funny, I’ve since moved to using a DE razor from when I recorded this video. I prefer the DE over the Leaf. I get a closer shave, the leaf is still good though and I can get a quicker shave, just not as smooth in some spots for me.
Defender is the best? Now leaf? What do you prefer? I prefer defender friend, and I use it,and I use Gillette fusion proglide flexball or proshield flexball chill.
Great shave, Matt! I love my Leaf and use it almost daily.. I do agree with one thing, they need to alter/improve the handle.. But otherwise a great razor!
Matt could you help me get in touch with the designer of the brink clean line tool. I live in Liverpool England and I can’t order it with Amazon in the uk thanxs Matt...
This leaf razor is by far the best shaver I shave my head and face followed by the twig on my face and head and its beyond perfect its fun and very quick it wasn't slippery like people said it was its not heavy as well now for shaving your whole body its perfect 👌 very quick and fast and easy and no headaches but I use platinum coated razors and I change the blades every time I shave as I like the razors sharp and fresh
@@NoBSBeardReviews it's the best it beats the safety razor it doesn't clog up or cut you even if your area is dry and you have fun shaving with it the leaf saves me 20 mins less time then the safety razor and compare the difference safety razor I shave every 5 days the leaf every 8 days for the leaf and twig is made for me the best and no better razor
Awesome love all your beard content but I’ve recently went bald and bearded and I’m sick of spending so much on my cartridges. I was between this and a pit bull skull shaver. I’m going with the leaf
The Headblade Moto and the ATX are the best for a head shave. I tried the Defender razor and I all I have to say is , you get what you pay for on that. Not good for the head
I'll definitely be keeping my Defender Razor! Straight handles and no rubber grip a bummer. The effort of mounting the blades a turn off. Not forgiving, I got sensitive head skin. The pivot point not in the center is not ideal. Glad it is working for you!
@@NoBSBeardReviews It's great to have choices! Every head is unique of its own. I questioned a lot of men and some are terrified of shaving their skull! Guess we are among of the brave ones. Take care!
Great reviews, but I am curious I have watched 3 reviews (this one, the Headblade ATX/Moto, and the Defender). being that I am a true beginner, never shaved my head ever. I am wondering what out of those three reviews would you recommend. I do like the cost effectiveness of the Leaf, but being completely new to this I am concerned about possible knicks and cuts, so I am leaning towards the Moto for that reason. Thanks
@@NoBSBeardReviews Thank you!! I need to get a few, cause I travel a lot for work, so I think I'm gonna go with the Defender, but I wasn't sure if they Leaf would be a perfect one for home haha. Thanks again!
@@NoBSBeardReviews I have the gold coloured one and after the shave you can also see a little soap residue, but not as much as on the black coloured ones. But an old toothbrush and some hot water is all I use to clean it daily. Once a week I clean it with some dish soap.
