Calculate the weight acting on a single wheel ( in general 0.8*total weight)... Then select the material, consider some factor of safety... Then design the spring using the same procedure.... Finally do check your design using any analysis software for safety....
suppose 3000N load is acting on a leaf spring suspension and you need to design the master leaf first .How will you calculate the FULL LENGTH of master leaf(2L)????
You cannot directly calculate the length of the master leaf without calculating ita cross section... Either you have to start by considering a rough length or by fixing the cross section you can calculate the length...
@@themechanicalengineer Thanks for guidence. Do you have any specific course which will cover everything regarding design of leaf spring from scratch and it also cover testing of leaf spring ( FEA, Load testing etc)? If you don't have then do you know anyone who can teach me on this? Please let me know
The specific factors of multiplying "ne" by 3 and "Ng" by 2 in the stress calculation formula for leaf springs are based on engineering design guidelines and empirical observations.
If we select the minimum diameter it may fail when it is subjected to high stress (in the other case)... But, If we select the maximum value it can withstand both the stresses..
