I'd rather have that than riot telling us :hey guys, this year we are cutting the release of all skins in half because we want to spend more time on 500$ skins :)
As a Genshin player i can assure you that you don't have to spend 200$ to get a character. Also if you get multiple constellations of the said character it would make it stronger, this 200$ chroma it's just a change of color, it doesn't come with extra dmg or extra skills XDD@@friendlyneighborhoodtotall1902
@@thehappiestchaos Nah, he's just hypocritical. He actively ignores the value you get for 200 dollars, keeps calling it a '200 dollar skin' on repeat, WILL NOT even MENTION the amount of skins you get for that 200 dollars, because it would shatter his argument. I bought the 30 capsules for Jhin. 200 dollars spent. The total value of skins I got after I was very picky with only picking out the ones I wanted? 393.65 USD
The wild part is, if you look at what the general online chinese playerbase wants. They really wanted more skins like this, the idea of flexing your "designer model skin" is something they legit enjoy. Lmao wild af.
Even though I like the occassional purchase of a skin, I hate these gacha systems. This is definitely the influence of Tencent. I am completely willing to engage in a transaction where I give money and get product, but spending money for the chance of getting a skin is the worst addition to MTX monetization.
As long as it's purely an addition and not a replacement, it's fine. It's not really fooling most people into thinking that the skin costs less than the yard pity requirement, but if you want to get something nonspecific you can still get something with a small chance of getting the more expensive skin.
Can we stop pretending the big bad Chinese are the reason Riot is catering to whales? Riot is fully capable of being scummy. You think Tenecnt, a company worth hundreds of billions of dollars, gives a fuck about micromanaging Riot's skins? Riot's a fucking box on a spreadsheet to them (and not even close to their most successful one!) This is Riot's decision-making / scummyness, you don't need to make excuses for them.
I don't understand all the crying babies 🍼🐥 If you aren't going to buy it, you are not the target audience, and it doesn't concern you. Move on. Stop crying like a baby 😂
It's extremely dishonest to frame it like you get nothing else for that $200, this is why nobody listens to your complaints. It's just a skin next to thousands of others, maybe grow up a little.
@@RobotMasterSplash My dude you literally posted this on a video about said $200 skin. Not sure where you came to the conclusion that no one listens to my complaints, because in this case the majority shares my opinion
Rior has kept track of how much money you spent, as evident per the "how much money did I waste" page from riot themselves. Riot also keeps track of every individual purchase, because you also have access to your own purchase history in-game. It doesn't sound that hard to pull both datasets and do a "what % of top-spenders have also gambled for the jhin skin" to me
That's... the entire point? It's meant to be an extremely rare luxury good that only the richest of whales will buy. Are you also surprised with how few Gucci bags and Bugattis you see at Walmart?
Between the new and old milestone rewards: The text states 'permanent' on all the lines, wheras the 'permanent' is removed out of the new, leading me to believe all the old were permanents, and the new will require orange essence. Which is somewhat weird since they specified 'A permanent' not 'permanents' or 'all permanents'. Weird overall ye
Yk what would be cool? If they changed it from basically a chroma to 'what if this legendary skin was designed to be an ultimate skin' I feel like that would honestly be a cool idea.
true, i loved her skin when it came out and bought it with all the money i had as a nonworking student. Even when I didnt play sona, same with the ezreal skin or Udyr, now you get 20x more expensive skin thats a recolor
I'd love to see the profit of these skins. Like how much money they make vs how costly they are to produce. This strikes me as minimum effort, maximum profit. I think pumping these out should be incredibly easy and profitable. Literally text book money making for Riot
I'd like to see how much profit they lose by hosting servers for people who have paid 0$ on the game and have played it for 5+ years. In a perfect world every game would be free but as long as that's not the case idc what riot charges people for a skin re color so i can play for free.
@@shnicklefritzzz Bruh, no way you're actually defending this shit when Riot is literally making MILLIONS! Those server costs don't even do a CHIP of damage to their wallet.
@@gazelle_diamond9768 Can you explain then HOW did they first make those millions ? i'm very curious how you gonna explain it without talking about people who spent money on it
@@arkadiallakhverdiev9561 By making skins who are actually affordable. They certainly WOULDN'T have made those millions if they started their game with 200€ skins.
Depends on the skins really. The difference between low performing skins or even just an average one versus the top dogs like Elementalist lux, Kai'sa skins, Project Vayne and so on must be out of this world.
I’m fine with skins specifically targeted at whales but also wish we got skins specifically targeted at other parts of the community also. We already have honor skins and victorious skins but nothing for getting challenges done, playing ARAM, playing Arena once that comes back, even something to show you’re a TFT menace would be cool!
Thinking about it the fact they just reskinned a skin is actually a good thing because it means they WERE considering everyone and knew people would be mad at an actual exclusive.
It doesn't matter what they release, League Playpigs are always mad at their supreme leader Riot Games. Maybe it's the lack of critical thinking, maybe it's the League addiction, who knows; all I do know is I've seen Riot make actual good changes and people STILL find a way to bitch about them. Nobody HAS to buy these skins. In fact, skins quite literally have no valid reason for existing in the first place, as they don't even boost your gameplay... it's purely cosmetic. And, just like any cosmetics (such as makeup), if people want to spend extra money to look better, then let those dumbasses do it.
@@nomoretwitterhandles You can never win with these guys. I respected necrit but the hypocrisy is too fucking funny. He praises genshin to the moon while being one of the most predatory games of all time and he acts mad for this shit when in reality he really doesn't care lmfao
As someone who owns the jhin mythic scam. Riot knows exactly the amount of money you spent on your account. I assume it is easy for them to check who got the Jhin Chroma and average out the amount of money those accounts spent on league and thus say: YES our targeted audience got the skin, so its a success. I obviously have no clue, but I imagine they could easily do something along those lines and get to their conclusion that way.
Mostly they would check the ratio of high spending accounts who decided that the skin was worth buying, to how often those accounts actually played those skins in game and how many times they continued to use the skin after the first game. Tells you the skins retention rate, how it compares to other jhin skins and whether it made the buyers more likely the spend on the next skin
@@gazelle_diamond9768you conflate people who is Ok if they want to release a $10,000 skin with people who wants to buy it. They saying “who cares?” Doesn’t even mean they want to buy the skin. Sure, some people find ridiculous to spend $200 on one skin; but I know many people who also find ridiculous to spend $50 on 5 skins. It’s all cosmetics with no real value. If it has value to you and you are Ok with the price, then dunno… you do you. NOTE: what I am fully against is the gacha system, which I think is outright predatory and gambling-inducing. Just charge $200, $500, $1,000 I don’t care on that. But no gacha.
Its nice they’re not feeding into FOMO but if they put this much effort into a chroma, imagine what they could’ve done for Samira. 😕 It would also be nice if they would’ve clarified the gacha system, whether you can get it pre-30 and disenchant for ME or it is exclusively available after 30 pulls.
Thank god, I only half glanced at the thumbnail before I loaded the video, seeing the dreads, I'm genuinely so happy it is not a new senna skin, my wallet would tear up
Idk about you but id rather play the game for free and let people with money to blow to spend 200 bucks on a recolor skin than for me to have to pay a monthly fee.
I really hate seeing people supporting decisions that basically are the start of destroying a game. What´s even worse is, that a friend of mine bought the Jhin scam and I don´t feel good about him making that decision since I don´t want to see this game go even more down the hill than it already is .-. :/
people have been saying the game is dying since i started playing 10 years ago. expensive skins are not bad for the game, noone is forced to buy them. its been working great in tft and barely anyone complains about that anymore. if they are so horrible. dont buy them. if someone wants it and has the money, let them buy it. the game wont die from cosmetics, at worst noone buys them once riot gets really greedy and everything goes back to normal. as long as nothing is p2w its still better than most games.
These people petitioned for these things and it has little to no relevance to the actual game. How is this destroying the game when it has no relevancy to the gameplay nor overall monetization?
Your name is literally "Prestigerakan" LOL. The prestige skin line was called a scam just like these when they first came out, can you kids get your values straight or what?
It won't kill the game. TFT has had the same thing on release and they're doing fantastic. TF2 and CSGO became partially famous because of thousand dollar skins. If they don't affect core gameplay, it won't matter.
While I mostly agree with your comment, you can't let your friends decisions affect you like that. It's your friend's money, let them spend it how they want. Unless you're paying their bills, you shouldn't feel like you're responsible for their financial choices.
It’s painful as a Ekko one-trick and skin collector that I will never have this skin, cuz I ain’t paying for this bs. I’m fine with gacha for cute anime waifus, but for League skins, it’s crossing the line, especially for my main.
A yacht and Ferrari are expensive because they are a fucking car and a boat. This is. A league skin that was made expensive for shits and giggles aka no reason
@@adamsterdam9049 The difference being that a yacht is a FUCKING GIGANTIC PIECE OF ENGINEERING! THIS literally has the exact same production cost as a regular legendary skin. Heck, EVEN LESS THAN THAT!
Imagine you get the whale skins, either by spending 200$, OR you get it for free if you hit 1 million mastery points, rewarding you for spending so much active time on their game.
man you said i'm not gonna make this channel all abt league , and looking back for the past 2 weeks , all what you're posting is league, i'm not complaining tho 😆
I really do not mind these skins and Riot's decision to continue making them. I think they purposefully aren't making them that special, but different enough to be noticeable, because they aren't targeting everyone. They are for whales and it doesn't feel predatory yet.
I only have to say that the skin looks amazing and it would appeal to everyone for 40 mythic essence, but not for 200$ I follow a Spanish streamer who is a whale in every game specially gachas and he said whats the matter with a 200% skin like if you didn't waste that on something else... that is the problem big whales which big amount of money not seeing the problem
But what is exactly “the problem”? I have no interest in this stuff; but I find interesting people’s double standard. Why is so horrible to wanna spend $200 on one skin but it’s OK to spend $50 on 5 skins. In both cases we are talking about cosmetics with no real value. Some people will find obscene both things, as they’re luxuries (of differing size, but both luxuries in the end). Why one is OK while the other isn’t? Because $200 is “too much”? Some people would really need $50 to make ends meet, and they would be confused as to why some people spend that for 5 skins in a videogame. To me, the undeniable problem is adding this within a gacha system, which is proven to be predatory and gambling-inducing.
@M.Nihankin I guess it's mainly because of the value. I would pay 200$ for ekko skin if it was actually worth it. It does not matter if it's a thing a real-life item or nah. The value of things is worth based on how you see it. It's like when your mom or dad say they are proud of you for the first time. It's not something tangible, and for others, it is worthless, but for you, it is valuable. At least, that's how I see it.
@@GachaCafez the opposite can be said: lots of people would be really upset if they were deprived of an incredibly unique skin. I think they actively choose to make them glorified chromas, because in the end that feels less punishing for the wide majority while it is not that bothersome to the ones willing to spend this amount of money. It could be said that there’s no realistic set of features that would justify a skin to have x10 the price of other skins. So the real value that pushes most of the buyers willing to pay $200 is either rarity, scarcity, luxury, or a mix of them. And none of those values require for a skin to be anything more than a glorified chroma, so that approach caters to most potential buyers without upsetting (even more) the ones who can’t afford the skin. I would personally prefer to go full consistent in theme-price, in having obscenely expensive skins looking like expensive high fashion or like luxury brands. Or I would love for them to go full ironic, with skins satirizing the whole thing: like Corporate Mundo. I wouldn still not buy them; but I think I would like the whole thing more. Then again, I am not the audience for this.
Main problem with this isn’t the price tag, it’s about the company slowly getting corrupted. If they take it too far and realize that people would still buy it eventually it’ll just lead the company becoming a chroma of blizzard, but then again don’t know nothing throwing my concern out there.
only becomes problematic once it meaningfully affects gameplay League certainly has issues in that capacity right now but I highly doubt that's a result of the time put into the mythic chromas
People have been claiming that the game is dying, Riot is greedy, and they're being corrupted for years now. Them putting out more prestigious skins that only the top spenders are willing to buy isn't a problem. I guarantee you they make just as much as, if not less money from this than they do just selling a normal skin because so few people are actually buying into it.
They have stats to satisfaction purchase + usage of the skin in game. They sure have this. If they are continuingly using it in game it sure is bc they are satisfied
This is why they're losing me as someone who will be willing to spend money on this game and as a player: because they don't seem to care anyway. If I don't support a company's monetization then I will make sure not to give them another cent. And Riot has definitely found its way on that list of mine. No more money from me, Riot. You fucked up.
I respect your decision. But riot won't care the whales will replace you 10 fold. The only way this changes is when people stop playing the game altogether so that only the whales remain and then they quit because they cannot flex their wallets anymore.
Every free to play game is like this now though. In fact, it's been like this since early 2010s with TF2 and CSGO. I also don't think Riot cares if someone who spends maybe 50 dollars a year stops spending money if they have 1 person spending 200 every other month.
@@myonionatemydog3916 You guys must be bots. Literally three accounts who all post the same-copy pasted shit in these comments. Is this Riot trying to damage control?
I remember back in season 1, 2, 3 where you would be looked down upon if you were using a skin(since very few people had skins before the capsule system compared to today), saying: “you should sell that skin since you suck”. Now, I'm happy to finally be able to say “I'm sorry, but unfortunately for you, money can't buy skill” to all the whales without feeling bad when I stomp them in game.
I thought the $200 skins were going to be "cheep" to make cromas, but now ekko has a different model. If this keeps up, Soon legendary skins will all be $200 or maybe every skin will all be gacha locked, one or the other.
Even if we ignore all the other problems, the fact that they are dropping another chroma just shows that they didn't care about "the rare skin prestige" they just want a higher tier that costs extra (who would have guessed)
They explicitly said that when they introduced the original concept??? These chromas exists solely for people with lots of disposable income, they're luxury goods aimed at an until-now untapped market. Also, more chromas in this tier doesn't mean that the individual chromas are any less rare. PAX Jax is just as rare and "prestigious" despite PAX TF existing.
You can get Pax Jax just through playing the game, though. Even if you have to buy two event passes to get enough mythic essence for it, that's what, 30$ total?? A lot less steep than 200$. @@leetri
@@leetri This is the exact shit that many companies outside of gaming does. Why the hell should i pay 10x more just because this white t-shirt have a stupid logo on it. But guess what, people still buy it. So eh, can't blame the game, blame the people, lmao
@@dieptrieu6564 Exactly! People who are upset about this act like luxury goods is a brand new concept. These chromas are no different than a Gucci bag or Supreme t-shirt, they're more expensive because the creators want them to be more exclusive and that's it.
I hope people realize slowly but surely all the great skin lines and the ones to come are now going to be priced higher since they are getting away with this.
When it comes to the feedback, it seems like Riot is just listening to feedback they want to hear as opposed to anything that directly ospposes this marketing decision and/or manipulating what people have been saying. If they keep this up, let's just say they'll find people can in fact put their wrath on display very well.
99% of the negative "feedback" is completely irrelevant because it comes from people outside the target market. Should horror movies start taking feedback from 5 year olds and remove all the scary stuff? Of course not, because the product isn't aimed at 5 year olds. The target market for these chromas is rich whales who regularly spend hundreds of dollars on skins, only their feedback matters. It doesn't matter what you or I think because the product isn't aimed at us.
i think they use the metric to see how many bought till the last capsule to gain the jhin skin and there are quite alot of people who did its quite suprising there are lots of people ready to spend money for 1 skin not to mention they get alot of other skins just when they open the capsules so i do think they made alot of profit by doing this meaning its insanely worth for them to do it again
not saying its the right move towards the rest of the playerbase but from the company point of view they make alot of profit so it doesnt matter to them what other people say
To be unfair, the Dark Cosmic erasure jhin chroma wasn't 200$ It had a chance to be 200$ if your luck wasn't that great. So not only was it targeted at people not afraid to spend that much, it was also targeted at gamblers
I don't see a problem with this. It doesn't effect game play, and if they want to make money by selling rare skins then fine. No problem, just keep the game playable and balance rank match making.
1. You don't need skins to win and its FREE to play. 2. League is one of the most cosmetic friendly games where you can own a ton of skins(legendary and ultimate included) even without spending any money. 3. Players decide if they want a skin or not. If you think its too costly then JUST DONT BUY IT! 4. These skins are LITERALLY MADE FOR WHALES to show off ingame that thay are WHALES. I really dont know when league players became so entitled.
My problem with this isn't that people get to pay overcharged prices for exclusive stuff, it's that the development of exclusive stuff could be going into stuff everyone else can afford/get.
I have only spent $ on Jhin skins because i love the champion and i wanted all his skins when i get them at a discount in my shop and yeah... now i wont be able to own them all, because i am not spending 200$ on slighly more red less purple cosmic Jhin. And the worst part is that know i wont be able to get a mythic essence skin or chroma because they ruined both with that.
