According to the Kill Team book, an iron kin stranded alone forever will turn insane. It’s the closest thing an AI can call hell.

Ironkin are considered just as important to the League or Kindred they belong as any normal Kin so if one is Lost the rescue missing goes swift especially if there is a danger of being found by the empire also the genes You refer are called cloneskin and they are stored on a League HQ so more than one Kin can have the same clone skin

“cloneskeins” are stored in the Votann, and used as templates for kin archetypes that are then slightly modified to create variance between them. A kin dying doesn’t result in any loss of genetic data. Instead, it’s a loss of experiential data. What Kin are encouraged to do is go out and witness/experience things no other kin has before, and then bring that data back to the Votann upon their recycling. When a kin dies, all that data is taken out of the heads and plugged into the Votann, so that they have more and more anecdotal data with which to render the best possible judgements and answers to queries. Even something as mundane as a labour-skein Kin of 52 years attempting to solve a scientific equation while dehydrated could be something the Votann don’t have data for yet. So kin dying where their bodies can’t be collected means that their experiences can’t be taken back to the Votann cores to contribute to the long line of ancestry. This is why being a Hernkyn of any kind is highly respected but also considered very dangerous.

Woops I ran the math using a 4+ base save. In that case they definitely kill the squad in melee. Thanks for calling that out!

@VotannVersus40K its good to know that paying for Warrior Pride means you're pretty likely to pop the CP pinata. I'm not sure that is always worth it, but having that option is good. What units to pick for the initial judgement tokens feels like such an important skill. I'm really curious if our rule will be similar once we get the codex.

I really hope they either 1) shift the detachment ability as the main army rule (handing out tokens at the start of the game) or 2) rework the token system and adjust data card bs/ws across the army

@VotannVersus40K yeah the tokens feel half baked. Maybe if every unit essentially had Long List? Or the Kahl didn't need LOS and/or chose after movement? Glare after movement would be nice too. And why does it give +1 to hit and not +WS/BS? Or reroll hits with all of our sustained guns? Or just do something completely different like you said and have us hit on 3s and 2s.
