As a mezzo, I cringe everytime I hear her sing. Listen to young Britney hold a low note in vibrato for over 10 seconds, then listen to this, and you won’t even believe it’s the same person.
i don't wanna taco bout it ya she should have gone the more jazz/soul route with vocals like hers, but then she wouldn’t be a pop princess. Quite sad actually in a way
This is NOT her natural voice..prob just part of her recording.. and she doesn’t sound very good.. her real voice is low.. and appealing.. sad the music industry forced her to be who she is NOT..
It’s nice hearing her raw, but I wouldn’t say this is an example of a good vocal - it’s pitchy, it’s all over the place, ridiculous breath noises. The released version is a lot stronger vocally, and much of what you’re hearing in the bridge and chorus is Cathy Dennis. Don’t get me wrong - I love Britney, she has a perfect pop vocal, brilliant pop songs, but her actual singing ability - it’s definitely not on show here.
I’m not even a big Britney fan, but when she goes into her natural range around 2:04, I actually got chills, like she has power in that voice, and it really sucks she’s forced to do the more “babyish” voice.
Jess Fae Did you ever see the clips of her at 8 years old on Star Search? She definitely can sing pretty well. But after she got famous they made her do this weird “singing”. I do like this song though not really a fan.
Actually they did her do that fake baby voice in order to make her unique and more marketable in the « pop music world » (also because that thought her original tone wouldn’t sell and fit pop music a lot). And guess what that were obviously right, she’s a legend and her baby voice is her signature.
I really hope she can liberate herself from her horrible management, and express herself the way she wants. Maybe even drop Original Doll. I was so curious about it. Still am.
She never use any baby voice they she records every song with her natural voice.they just add high pitch to her voice that's why she don't sing live because she don't have that baby voice once u listen to her song were she use to sing live she always was singing with her natural voice ...she was never forced to sing in a baby voice they always add high pitch on her voice, she was singing 2017 live and her voice was deep and pretty ok but she was never a one of the best singer ever,
It’s not her PRODUCERS they are just there to get paid and go home it’s her label and she would understand this is now her brand and in order to become established you need to have something unique.
Jamilah Castro false. I don’t know why you’re saying that. There are dozens of recording sessions videos of Britney on RU-vid. Britney changes her voice register many times during a session and plays with different voices. RU-vid her ‘Break the ice’ recording session, she goes from baby high pitched to her deep register several times throughout takes. No auto tune needed and auto tune can’t change that it can only correct mistakes.
Yea there’s no way she could sing this way and dance at the same time. I get why she lip syncs. This voice would be impossible to control while dancing
Abigail Yes but Koreans and other artists that dance and sing live are trained to control their REAL voice, she was FORCED to sound a way that wasn’t natural for her for over a decade so she probably even hurt her vocals.
@Abigail oh cmon we know how korean entertainment industry well, Korean artists mostly they sing in a group (one song is singing by 4 or more people) and they also do lipsync, Britney sings alone and also she dances. See the differences 😉
The gag is: Christina's real singing voice is HIGH. Christina forces her voice to go deep, though unlike Britney, seems to be able to do it without straining too much.
@@Nocturne22 that’s expected. it takes a lot more energy to hit your highest vocal notes rather than your lowest notes. when you’re talking in a low voice, your larynx is always relaxed as opposed to a high voice.
Yeah Britney and Christina did a switch, Christina naturally sings light and high but was trained to sing deep and belt (her choice). Britney naturally sings deep and belts but was trained to sing in a high baby voice (not sure if it’s her choice, apparently not)...The music industry lol
Morgan Rockanne Clearly, I don't force Britney to sing with her Normal voice. I don't have the power to do that, I'm here suggesting to people that, maybe, after all this year, we're tired of her lypsinc and high, sweet, baby voice, and a re-introduction would be great. It's a suggestion after all, you can take it or leave it.
This isn't even the final recording, probably the first time she sang it. At the very end she says: I'm getting dizzy now. That part is different from the final version. She did really good!
Songs aren’t usually recorded in one take. Usually they’re recorded in sections (verse, chorus, bridge) & you just record the same part a bunch of times on a loop until the producer feels like he has enough material to create the perfect track.
I actually don’t think this sounds bad at all, but at some parts you can clearly tell she is thinking “I don’t have to try too hard, they will fix this with autotune later”.
More like that's not her real voice and she was forced to sing like that by her team so of course she's not going to sound as good as she could... that rhymed :)
into the mystic Geninune question. Where did this come from that she was forced to sing in a higher range than where her natural voice is at for her entire career? I can maybe see that being true for her first album but the woman grew to be the number one pop artist of the century. At some point she had creative control over her own sound. I don’t believe that 1. She was forced to sing in a baby voice for all these years 2. That she can not sing due to damage to her vocals
@@okayfloatstudios3097 from Eric Foster White, the producer she worked with that claimed to change her voice from her natural low range to the nasally baby voice more suited for pop music at that time. Just listen to her singing before she was famous. She's 100% an alto. Singing out of your range for years will definitely ruin your vocal chords. And you really think she had creative control back then? She doesn't even have control of her life to this day. She still has to get permission for everything she buys, even Starbucks. But if you don't wanna believe it, that's your choice. Idc.
into the mystic Her finances and legal battles with her conservative ship is a different topic. Regarding her music she definitely had some creative control as she wrote most of her music herself. The way she felt reflected in her music. Being controlled by her manager stage father and her feeling miserable because of the press harassing her is literally depicted even in music videos. If she had a say in choosing to portray that in her music she definitely could have stepped up and chosen to sing in her regular voice but I think she didn’t because her manufactured baby voice was easy to duplicate with an impersonator. You can tell she lost interest in actually singing/performing about a decade ago. She’s now just making bank with song writing.. (song writers earn more than actual singers btw). You can tell her label hired that sound alike Myah Marie to sing her recent albums (especially the Britney Jean album) and Britney is just sitting back cleverly running the biggest scam since Millie Vanilli. Business wise she’s a wise money maker but due to contracts her money is being controlled and held hostage.
Her natural singing voice is actually so nice. I reaaaally don't understand the baby voice thing. I mean yeah, I get it, the vocal color is really unique but it's damaging
Exactly it sort of makes you wonder what she went through. Being that there’s so many Hollywood pedophiles accused of sexual misconduct and if they forced her to sing in this baby voice what else were they having her do it’s creepy. and listening to oops I did it again as an adult is having me wondering why grown men want her to sing in a baby voice
boris no it’s still not her real/natural voice. Kinda like an impression. If you were to do an impression, your voice and vocal cords are more stress than if you were actually relaxed and speaking/singing normally.
I think we can definitely say that Britney has been forced for years to keep up this bubble gum, pop princess crap when in reality she is capable of much more. If they would have let her sing more like Taylor Dayne, which she clearly could, she would probably have been taken way more seriously.
She cannot sing like Taylor Dayne, please don't insult Taylor like that. I'm a fan of Britney Spears but she's nowhere near Taylor's level. Her deeper voice is better and she can definitely sing but nowhere near Taylor Dayne.
As someone who's sang for choirs I can tell you that this range is painful for her to sing in. You can tell by how airy her voice gets. That's her vocal chords straining to stretch to that pitch.
Now, tell me, why is it so hard to add some new vocals like these to the versions she performs with nowadays? It would not sound like a CD playing. The lipsync thing could be totally forgiven.
it's probably easier on her voice to not do it anymore. it's already been-super damaged from that not even being her real voice. I get that she can sing on her new albums but it's probably just more convenient for her to stick with the old recordings, which is why I let the lipsyncing slide a little bit. I totally agree with you though, it's weird as hell to see her do "Crazy" or "Oops!" but hear her 17 year old voice.
I know what you mean and respect your point of view, but I'm pretty sure she could manage to record an updated version for this (even if she'd sound differently now - in the Carpol Karaoke you can see that she's capable of it). That would be more realistic and honest from her side. People don't go to concerts hoping to hear the exactly same versions/vocals from the albums. Actually, it's the precise opposite of that. They usually go to have a totally diferent experience - from outfits, scenario, lights, sound... to the voice itself.
Nikki E. Britney actually has a good singing voice, it’s just more low toned similar to christina aguileras, her label just wanted her to/forced her to make music using a higher pitched voice attained by straining her vocal chords, and auto tune/pitching up. over time her voice got strained and that’s teh main reason she never sings live, but her original voice is still better than other “auto tuned singers” original voices
Nicolai Olsen Ariana grande, Jessie j, Katy perry, Lizzo, Beyoncé, fifth harmony, little mix, sia, Rihanna, and many more. She’s a good performer and artist, but in terms of vocal quality, she’s average
Nikki E. Well considering the fact that auto tune was invented and released in 2000, 2 years after Britney’s debut with no auto tune on her first two albums. I’d say no, Britney isn’t an auto tune artist. Most of the vocal treatments is vocal layering, echo and vocoder treatment, not auto tune. Some people, my god. Any vocal treatment = “auto tune” 💀🤦🏻♂️
Britney has so much natural talent. It's a travesty what the people around her did to her. No wonder she's struggled. I wish she was given more creative freedom. The public image of her is so not who she really is. It's sad. Britney is forever a legend though.
spacewitch 333 she thought she was gonna produce songs more like Sheryl Crow. But because she could dance things shifted. And she went along with what people/producers wanted.
minecraft junkees she was forced to yo, by her producers and uberly controlling family. Just do some research on what control they have her under and you’d understand why.
If that was the case, Christina Aguilera would have damaged her voice just as bad since she had strong vocals and is always pushing to the limit.. That’s called called Talent.
K Cede stfu videos on the internet show Britney’s got a soulful voice just because you hate her doesn’t mean it’s not true. Britney factually has a soulful voice and the evidence is on RU-vid, the girl used to do Broadway and star search FFS.
Hate that they made her do that baby voice - as if it were “sexy” or something. I remember her voice from Mickey Mouse club and then her coming out as pop artist and thinking - what happened to her voice smh
@@vocalbooth8585 u actually are correct ! It's not, I saw a video the other of people who try to sound like professional singers and this was one of them .
Singing this on-key in a studio setting is incredibly challenging, I think a lot of people don't realize how many professional singers have trouble with that. Much less when you're singing in a register that's unnatural for you. Britney is very good.
@@ronventurino5245 The pace of songs were slower then compared to music from 2000’s on up. Staying Key is way harder now more then ever and takes time and work to perfect. 😩
@@ronventurino5245 lol Cher was the first to use auto tune, not Britney, Britney’s first album came out before auto tune was ever used in pop music 😂🤦🏻♂️
Why are you guys fighting! It's just an opinion. If opinions piss you off so much, then here's mine: Beyoncé sounds like shit. And don't tell "well she's better than you". Because yeah, she is, but that's what I think. I don't have to be better than Beyoncé to have an opinion.
She still has a strong voice despite being forced to sing in a pitch that’s not natural to her. #FREEBRITNEY - I can’t wait for the day we can see her sing the way she was meant to. It’s unfair that we have never been able to see an acoustic/raw version of Britney’s voice and she’s been in the industry for 20 YEARS. Artists change with the times - Taylor Swift does it with every album. It’s Britney’s turn now!
Britney could have released this as an anniversary thing for the song and most pop fans would be over it. Most have already forgiven her. It's her handlers, managers, messing with BSB, NSYNC, Christina A., Christina M., etc., lying about laws for their own gain and cons.
Hey guys, if you want to see some epic BRITNEY MEGAMIX, you can't miss this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_aIVGVxHtFw.html - i would really appreciate it if you support that work, thanks for all the love. Xoxo!
It’s sad how they made her change her voice because her and Christina sounded too much the same. So they created the “baby sound”... she is an puppet to her father.. so sad!
For those who say she dosent sing live, this is basically Piece of Me Residency mic feed! SHE SINGS LIVE! she has backtrack in case she runs out of breath during dancing which is actually smart her TEAM is the one who mutes her. Meaning these vocals are from her 2017 residency not her 2003 track
Melissa as a man I will do that to, she need someone who take care and think about her as the person she is inside and not only outside and her money, I always love her not only for her music but also bc I think she is a good person but never being aloud to show it. Stay safe Be free britt and get the life you want.. Why you never run outside my door hmm.
She used to sing live at the beginning of her career cause she was younger. She matured but they still wanted her to sound like a baby, maybe she hurt her voice because they’ve been forcing her to do this for a really long time /: worst of all, she probably has contracts that don’t allow her to speak up so she has to deal with people saying she lipsyncs and she can’t sing, I hope one day they let her embrace her real voice.
@Smudge The Cat Her producers wanted to make a distinct sound for Britney so when you heard her on the radio you would know it was her. Apparently they “crafted” Britney’s singing until they “got the voice they wanted.” It’s really kind of scary when you think about it, because according to her producers she had a completely different voice until they interfered.
That “I’m addicted to you don’t you know that you’re TOXIC!!!” Is Britney Spears real voice. All the rest is the forced baby voice but she still slayed 😍👸
this would likely be why she lip syncs. Well that and her routines are intense and cause winding. Very few have the lung capacity of lady gaga/beyonce - assuming they dont 'cheat' either - which they probably dont. Stephanie often switches between songs to give her breathing time - where she sits and strums or plays piano. Without a doubt she'd have vocal fry.
nasser wiz Go ahead and name them then...Say what you will about Britney’s vocal power, nobody in the industry sounds like her. You just know when a Britney song is playing.
She might have a powerful voice (I don't listen to many of her songs so I wouldn't know) but it's definitely not being displayed well in this song. There's not a large range.
+Paul Hay really she has a powerful voice. but she sings with a "baby voice" in her career. you can see in this video for example ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eEZ2azbB9P8.html
@@user-ml6iy6pp8d Bruh....people can make their voice sound different. It is her real voice, she's just changing it for the song in parts. Like a million other singers do.
@@OC.TINYYY No but the thing is. This wasn't Britney's NATURAL singing voice. The tone was too nasally and it's bad technique so it made her voice deteriete. She was a Mezzo Soprano who was on an Off-Broadway show but they wanted to feminize her singing voice.
Additionally. It is near impossible to get a perfect studio recording cut. I can factually say every single artist in today's industry uses pitch correction in their songs. Just because something sounds correct does not mean it is perfectly correct. Someone could ask Justin Timberlake to sing a c and it could sound comparably correct to everyone else but analyzed by a computer, human ears aren't perfect so it's probably be a little sharp or flat maybe by as little as an eighth tone but computers will still pick it up and fix it. There are NO artists that do not use pitch correction, the very beginnings of pitch correction have been used since the 50's and 60's so when you hear oldies from the 70's 80's and 90's those songs have pitch correction applied to the vocal stems. The software they used was premature the level of our software today but it was still present. For the people who think that everything pitch correction is used for is making terrible singers sound good are wrong. If you sound crappy, pitch correction can literally not make you sound good. You can put everything to the right note that it's supposed to be but the way you sing it determines what it will sound like overall. If you sing it bad no matter how much you pitch correct it it'll sound bad. The only way to really edit it is to chop up the waveform or reduce waveform variation but when you do that, that's when you start to sound like t-pain which is not what autotune and melodyne and pitch correction programs were created to do. They were created to fix minor pitch errors. And they can't make something out of nothing.
The song was written with Kylie Minogue in mind, who is naturally soubrette unlike Britney. I would’ve LOVED to hear her vocals on this, but Britney’s version is ICONIC
This is also one layer of the vocals. The chorus for Toxic has layered vocals so yes it sounds weird with only hearing one layer, all together sounds like the song.
F G fun fact: person who wrote “toxic” (forgot her name,) has her vocals featured as well, mainly in the chorus section. But yea, a lot of layering involved
It’s not like it sounds bad. The title made me think otherwise. It’s not perfect, obviously, but still very good. A lot better than anything I could ever sing, lol.
She has a great voice. People forget that she has been told to “squeak” her voice on purpose to fit in with what they think will sell. Kind of sad if you think about it. Listen to her actually singing other songs too lol 😂 especially when she was younger! Better than most singers now who just rely on auto tune. 🙄
The funny thing is that so many of you people are using the term autotune like it encompasses all forms of pitch correction software. I'm a singer and I produce, and antares auto-tune is but one brand of pitch correction software used in the industry. Just because something sounds like it has effects placed on it and its pitch corrected, does NOT automatically mean it was auto tuned. There are practically other pitch correction software programs that pitch correct like antares auto-tune. For example Melodyne is one of those other Programs. Also if you hear effects on someones voice, most likely it is a collection of filters that the vocal stems have been passed through like, equalizers, multiband compressors, delay, reverberation, vocoders etc. And alot of those filters are actually externally independent of things like auto-tune. And another thing is, auto-tune or other pitch correction filters are fine for fixing mistakes however, definitely this recording is far from the final cut that was taken from the studio. Pitch correction can modulate pitches or drag them to the nearest semitone, do some minor waveform cutting and some more, but a lot of gates and filters for sound remain external from auto-tune despite many of you trying to label those vocal effects as auto tune. Please don't because they are not. And another thing is, pitch correction is not an automatic fix all, when people say that artists who use it have no talent, that in itself is incorrect. Pitch correction software like melodyne or auto-tune is fine if you sing well and make some mistakes that can be pitch edited. However, if you sound like a dying animal, auto-tune or pitch correction will NOT fix it, I dont know why so many of you think that its as easy as sprinking auto-tune on anyones voice to make them sound good. If you sound like a dying animal and I use pitch correction software to edit the pitches of the waveform, then you'll still sound awful, just in a modulated pitch. Pitch correction like auto-tune is not just a magic "fix all". In truth, you CANNOT sound like complete crap and expect auto-tune to make you sound good. It just doesnt work that way. So when you hear a artists that has been edited, do remember that for things like auto tune and pitch correction to be effective, there has to be a level of base talent there, auto-tune and melodyne don't just work from nothing. And when you hear all these effects, don't just say things like, "oh they were autotuned", like it's as simple as that, because it's not. Because you couldn't be more wrong and far off. Sure, a pitch correction software program like auto-tune may be used, but it might not be auto-tune which was used to modulate the vocal pitches. So it's time to break through that misconception that all of you have about what auto-tune really is and pitch correction and an artists talent.
It's the internet buddy, everybody is a sound engineer and everybody can apparently sing better than Britney 😆. I've said this for years, you need to sing good, auto tune or not, I guess it makes people feel better about themselves to think singers like Britney need auto tune.
I seriously couldn't agree with you more. I do audio production, I write my own songs, I make mixes, went to college for my bachelors in Audio Technology and I (on occasion) sing when it's necessary. I'm not a professional singer. I know how to sing within reason but, sometimes my vocals a pitchy and out of key. I mostly use Auto-Tune (sometimes other pitch correction software like Melodyne and the integrated pitch correction in Logic Pro X) a lot. You can only use it if the base vocals are good enough to work with. Also, before any final production of a song, first you need to do something called vocal comping, which is using parts from various recorded vocal takes (which even gets down to vowels and specific parts of one word and beyond) that make a lead vocal sound unnatural at first but, ultimately those things are corrected. If it's just a demo with just the initial lead vocal recording, you will have everyone out there throwing out their idiotic opinions about how music should and shouldn't sound. It literally drives me f-ing nuts. I could go on for days about this.
*i mean this is actually good... But if she prefers singing deep she should take control... It's her music... Once someone controls ur music it's not really your art anymore*
Sadly, we all know what happens when she tries to take control of anything dealing with her career or personal life. She was swallowed whole & eaten alive by the music industry. It’s so sad her parents were more worried about fame than protecting their daughter. From such a young age, she’s been a show pony. I’m sure it sounded amazing to her to do what she loves for a career when she was a little girl. The vipers got to her. Sadly, her parents let it happen. Then seem to have become vipers themselves....
So I have never been a huge Britney Spears fan , but I remember when I was in a band 23 years ago our drummer had a picture of her up on his wall, the "Oops I Did It Again" very first release, and I just thought she was going to be one hit wonder. So imagine my surprise that I love this version of this song so much. I love the uncut vocals that show not only her range but her personality, (which I feel so much music these days is lacking) and I also appreciate how see enunciates her vocals so you can actually hear what she's saying which is pretty rare these days. I have to say, I'm impressed.
