Having polished his father's Olympic medal as a child, India's Leander Paes always wanted one of his own. At Atlanta 1996, he had his chance in the bronze medal playoff against Fernando Meligeni. In “My Great Olympic Moments”, Leander describes what it is like to represent a nation of over one billion people and expresses emotionally what the Olympic Games mean to him.
My Great Olympic Moments revisits the most memorable performances in Olympic History, recalled by the iconic gold medallists themselves, describing in detail the epic moments that led to their historic achievement: oly.ch/MyGreat...

One of the greatest sporting moments, in my life time, along with India's cricket team's victory in 1983 world cup, India winning the hockey world cup in 1975, the Yankees winning the world series in 1996, and the Patriots beatings the Falcons in 2017. What a thrill!

Fun Fact (or Sad Fact hahah) : India had won total 0 MEDALS in 1984,1988, 1992 Olympics (Yes, 3 in a row , 0 medals) So, Paes won the first Indian medal in 16 years

These guys brought me tears... That was just amazing... Thanks for this amazing live... I remember Leander on my city, Belo Horizonte, playing the Challenger played at my "home", the place I've spent 16 years of my life as a ball kid, tennis professor, PR, and so on... I never could Imagine he was preparing himself to the Olympic Games thinking about the surface and how high were the chosen places to play... I see how much he deserved this medal, even against a Brazilian idol. I'll never feel sad again for "having lost" that medal as a Brazilian guy and tennis man...

We did not get any medal in 1984,1988 and 1992. That medal meant a lot to us at that time.

He achieved nothing and it is said that he lost the 2004 Olympics men's doubles bronze medal match purposely so that his partner Mahesh could not get a medal
