Lip slurs are a fantastic way to develop flexibility and access to the different registers of our instrument; while we often practice lip slurs that move systematically from one partial to the next (i.e. 2nd/3rd/4th/3rd/2nd partial) there are a wide range of musical situations where we need to move across wider intervals, and thus wider partial leaps. In this Daily Practice Tip I talk about a few wider interval lip slur exercises and some ideas to think about in developing these intervals.
