Hey, you've really improved your teaching methods! Love building the pattern while playing, and the response exercise is cool too. At this rate you will become one of the djembe channels of reference. Keep it up!
Yeah, agreed. It also has other names in other cultures - it's a simple, very widespread beat. Differences start to show when fills or variations come into play...
So I had two days so far and I learned the first one and the second one separately ,but have trouble combining them .. probably because I don’t remember the melody . I’m so used to listening to jungle and drum n bass , can’t remember raggaton at all 😣 I feel so dumb!!! Maybe I should have chosen another melody as my first ever on drums ...
The second is nothing other than a (suggested) variation of the first one, the basic rhythm. You can instead just get right the first, then play around with it, adding a tone here, or there, and hearing if it sounds right to you.
Great rhythm to start with! If you are just starting, you may enjoy Babatunde Olatunji's lesson on how to produce the djembe sounds: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tiXmwWrlwiw.html
