As an MS Access developer, I was fully familiar with SQL in that environment. I've never formally been an IT person, so I've not had exposure nor training to SQL in a SQL server environment. These videos have been fantastic for me to get the basics. I knew the language, just didn't know the terms. Keep them coming!
I honestly like the way this channel is changed on editings like Subscribe Button, Intro, and the exit card. Furthermore the content is simple to understand clear and short, this means each word is the *KEY*
Part 3. Awesome. The simplicity of instruction is World Class! Thank you. other videos/books and courses make it seem too complicated. This is the best thing since Sliced Bread, indeed!
I love the break you took! It was funny but I actually paused and took a min to go over what I learned! Thanks for all you do! I'm a new subscriber as of today.
Dear Adam, thank you so much for this short course. I'm kind a newbie (or better to say newBI) in SQL, but it was looking strange for me that in this language exist both UPPER and LOWER like in Excel but no PROPER for correct first character case. So I've googled a bit and found the INITCAP function which also solves the task. One of things that I've learned till now is that often good Excel base is an advantage for SQL but sometimes you may get some faux amis and have to dive deeper into vocabulary 😅
NewBI! I may just steal that! 🤣 You're right, INITCAP would also solve this problem. I also wouldn't really need both UPPER and LOWER in the same statement because (normally) it's either one or the other. However, INITCAP (as well as PAD) aren't universal across all RDBMS and it wouldn't work on the SQLite database from the 1st part of the series. The idea for me was really to demonstrate how different functions can work together to solve a problem. You're quite right to point it out though, so thanks!
I loved this series. Just needed a refresher and it's simple and straight to the point with great examples. Thank you ! (I'm all for no b**lsh*t in Data)
Hi. i knew SQL but never used it on regular basis. i had to revise my concepts . accidently i turned on your videos and really learned many others concepts i couldn't understand before specially with CASE value and TRIM, PAD etc. love your way of explaining things, will definitely look for more of your videos. Thanks dear. Big ThumbsUP
Really good one also!!! Part2 was a tremendous work example!!!! simple, accute, accurate, basic, relaxed, no stress, no anxiety for the "unknown" or the "blurred" or the "foggy" aspects of SQL -

Dear Adam, thanks a lot for a very detailed video. I can't thank you enough. I have watched all the 3 parts of Basic SQL. I would like to ask, is there any playlist or any plan to create one on the intermediate or advanced level of SQL by you. I would like to learn complete SQL from you. Kindly suggest.
You’re welcome. I have no plans to make any more advanced tutorials mainly because there are people far more qualified than myself who would do a better job. There are also already quite a lot of full courses on RU-vid so not sure what I could add. But thanks for your interest.
i wanna cry but im a man so i cant do that and even though women say its ok to be emotional do it at your peril, so instead ill say thank you for making sql actually quite fun, ive looked at so many tutorials and found learning python easier lol, but now i get it, damn you make it easy to understand, im at university now studying data science, between you, uni, and chat gpt, i feel invincible lol, thanks again.
Hi Adam.. Fantastic videos, many thanks. I could not understand "Locate" function in this video. Noted that you have split the names (First and last names) from table in to two separate columns. But why do we need to split the names. Can you suggest any practical example, thanks.
Hi Adam, thank you for your tutorial! I have a question regarding LPAD. For example, if the code is LPAD( zip_code, 5, '0'), what would happen to '123456'? Will it return '12345' or '23456'?
Im lost by the 12:51 mark. I think i need to go and take part in google analytics program. By the second video I had already forgotten what was explained in the first video. What am i doing with my life. I have an analyst job interview tomorrow and I know jack S*** about this stuff.
@@shirbahadar3576 So you wont believe what they did. Mid interview the director told me that what she was looking for was a hybrid role of analyst and sales management. Which I clearly lacked the management part so obviously they didnt go with me. But im pretty sure il get the analyst position here in this company or somewhere else, im pretty much done with my google analytics course. Fingers cross gotta work ur way up right.
I tested the link today and it worked. I received the email and the doc downloaded ok. Not sure what to suggest. If you got to the landing page and entered your email it should be sent to you. Have you tried looking in your spam?
@@LearnBI I did not fully review each video, but I skipped through the first video in about 30 second chunks. As far as I can see neither of those are covered in the first video. I also took notes through the whole thing and my notes do not contain any references to those two concepts. Very good and helpful video though.
