Learn Mandarin Chinese Lesson for Beginners: HSK1 How to express what happened in the past--an action verb + 了le/没有méiyǒu＋an action verb
我吃了早饭。wǒ chīle zǎofàn。I ate breakfast. /我没有吃早饭。wǒ méiyǒu chī zǎofàn。I didn't eat breakfast.
我买了这个。wǒ mǎile zhège。I bought this./我没有买这个。wǒ méiyǒu mǎi zhège。I didn't buy this.
去了qù le--went/没有去méiyǒu qù--didn't go
来了láile--came/没有来méiyǒu lái--didn't come

Your method of Chinese teachings is one of the best really . I have downloaded alots of lessons & improved Chinese language much more & I know more than 450 Chinese Hanzes. . . Some aspects of Chinese are so simple it's very encouraging. One question: Does méiyou just take the place of bù to make a present negative into a past negative, or is it more complicated than that?

You can say that, but it is a little bit more complicated than that. méiyǒu/méi + an action verb indicates this action is not completed, so for most of the time, this structure is used for expressing a past negative sentence. But this structure can also be used for the future to suppose an action is not completed at a certain time in the future. But don't worry about it, if you want to say a past negative sentence, just use méiyǒu/méi + an action verb

HI dear. i`d like you to help me wihh the following questions:1- is it optonal to use question mark to make question? 2-is it optional to use the subjet in a sentence? menny times i see teachers omiting them.

1, What do you mean by question mark? This "?" 2, Yes, subjects are often omitted if we know what subjects we talk about

At first, sorry for my hard english, Dear. I mean teachers many times dont use ma to make question.Ex; Ni3 you3 shui3 ma? and you3 shui3? , he1 shui3?. Ma seems to me as optional. Anyway, thank you so much.

Sebastiao nunes de lima If you are a little bit surprised, you can omit "ma". If I thought you don't have water, but actually you have water, and I will be surprised saying: "ni3 you3 shui3?! "
