Nice video, thanks! There is a mistake though, as you say "In Chacha we will use the same hand holds, just different steps" - as if it is the steps what makes difference between the dances. That's kind of misleading, as of course you can do just the same steps in any dance. It's the music, which is different and what makes the character of the steps come out differently. But it's not the steps per se which make a difference. I think this should be made very clear, as there is some confusion about that - still some people believe that the difference in the dances is to make different step patterns. But that's wrong, unfortunately... Keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing more videos of you! Best regards

Hi thank you for your comment ! I agree with you on your first part that the music, which is different and makes the character of the dance , but not a steps. There is a fact that cha cha and rumba are different dances with a different steps (Fact, it’s just one of the small little differences for beginner at least, there is many differences though), i mention it in my video but this is not a point cuz my video is about dance holds. As for beginners when they learn dances there is different pattern of steps for each dance , but once they start to feel the music and improve then we can talk deeper about technique and etc gradually other aspects, because beginners won’t understand you if you talk about advanced things cuz it comes with experience and right timing . You can’t read the book from the end , you have to start from first page. I like your comment though ,it’s good point of view

You cannot do the same steps in every dance , cuz music and timing is different. Or swing and samba , or paso and jive , or waltz and tango

@@rightman1161 Thanks! The problem is, that the first pages in the book are actually missing. These pages are about the real basic steps, which are the same for all dances. To know how to make these steps look Rumba or how to make them look ChaCha means to understand the character of the dances. I believe we need to start writing these missing pages again. Yes, different step patterns have _been chosen_ to be written down for the different dances in a book, that's a fact. But to interpret from there that the dances are different because they are based on different steps is not a fact, it is a conclusion. As for beginners, I totally believe that their first problem is the music and this is what should be addressed. Knowing that the basics are the same for all dances would help here. Why need to learn 10 different complex step patterns without understanding how they connect to the music if you could use just the same simple steps and focus just on what is the main point in dancing: Connection to music. Maybe this really is a new point of view. I will keep pursuing it in any case. Wish me luck! :-)

@@rightman1161 Music is different, yes, so timing and fine details of execution of a movement will of course be different - that's the character of the dance - but that doesn't mean that the steps are different. Take as obvious example some sample step patterns of swing and jive - they are just the same. Sure the slightly different music makes them come out as different dances. Paso and Jive? Well, why not take Chassés and Rocksteps for example - both ideas are natural components of Jive as well as of Paso (as of _every_ dance actually). Of course they look different to the different kinds of music, but that again is whay I mean by character of the dance. Waltz and Tango? There are many figures even already written in the books, which are the same for both dances - you will really have to show me any one step pattern that could not be put into the character of all the dances. Would be an interesting challenge! :)

The first basic step tango walk to promenade link , closed promenade , rocks and etc there is many ..... can you dance these steps in waltz ? Can you dance samba walk in paso double or jive ? What I m trying to say is that for beginner the obvious difference between dances will be steps. For professionals or advanced dancers steps is not important anymore , thats what’s we do and that’s what you said at the beginning Which we focus more on musicality and interpreting the music , timing , and character, and again each dance should different from each other with style (included steps ) I think we are on the same page , issue is just we disagree at what time what to teach
