Ah, man, that's awesome to hear. I probably need to do a better job of promoting the artists and songs themselves. I generally pick songs I actually care about, so I'm glad you went the extra step and reaching into something new!!
Using the one-finger version, could you play this with just the paired strings fretted, and the other 2 strings as open drone strings? I think that 'drone' sound that you hear with traditional mountain dulcimer playing is what really makes these instruments unique...
Always. as long as it sounds like you want it to sound (melody, chords, etc), then it's totally dealer's choice on how you get there. I think "Falling" probably lends itself more to an open and drone style than some of the other songs do, too.
@@HeyInglewood yeah, the strumsticks/pickin sticks and dulcitars/walking dulcimers are 2 different instruments with different lineages and very different play styles, only united by the fact that they are both diatonic. The narrow fretboard and 3 strings in 3 courses of a strumstick lends itself better to chording (like on a guitar), whilst the wider fretboard and 4 strings in 3 courses of a walking dulcimer lends itself better to the traditional 'droning' style of the lap mountain dulcimer.
