Learning English by watching the TV show Friends and studying connected speech? Now, that's a fantastic idea! Friends' characters talk just like real people, so it's the perfect way to understand how connected speech works in English.
Rant Former ESL student here. Why instructors teach students speak in a way that doesn't exist in real life. They don't tell you about contractions, schwa, vowel dropping, etc, etc. It makes sense that out of the class room feels like we speak zero English. We expect certain sounds and suddenly people emits noises we were not taught and wondering if we really speak the language or not. Anyway thanks God these videos exist.
I watched a lot of english coachs but this is the first time i find a real one. All of the others they keep repeating the same advices listen to more english read the books an newspapers... never they give a real lessons and explain how the native speaking.
I`ve been learning English for 2 years and i'd never undertstood so clearly what they were actually saying with such detail, until now... Definitively thats the natural rhythm that i'm looking for
this is my favorite video to use with my students, i think connected speech isn't taught as much as it should be ,and i just love her vibe and her videos
Hi! Yes the clips were interesting and useful. Please keep on using the clips as example to simplify the American English pronunciation to all your students and followers. Respectfully yours . Salah
Thank you very much for this lesson. I learned the quick speaking of reduction and connection words and phrases. This is a great way to learn and understand the fast speaking of native speaking English. Another lesson with this sort of exercise will be great. thanks again...
great lesson: gymnastics for the duo brain/tongue. Very interesting/entertaining. I need at least one or two or three like this EVERY WEEK. THANKS A LOT !!!
It was a fantastic class and I had a lot of fun! This was my first time watching a content from this channel and | confess that was amazing... Greetings from Brazil!
I'm a real fan of Friends. I have watched the entire series for 4 times. Thank you so much for your lesson. As I am working on my pronunciation with connected speech, this lesson is so helpful for me. Please do more videos with the sitcom, Friends like this.
Thanks for this amazing lesson. This episode is by far one of the funniest ones, plus the connected Speech helps us as English learners to understand fast speech.
I just really enjoyed this type of content. Several times I watched episodes of FRIENDS, but I couldn't understand any specific dialogue. I was content with understanding the context. I loved!
Thanks for that wonderful video. I will definitely keep watching the other videos you upload. This is a great way to learn with your knowledge and with your valuable perspectives.😊
Stephanie, I am gonna be honest with you. You're the best teacher in English. I have never seen this kind of may to teach. I have really appreciated. I'd like the same videos like this.
Stephanie, I was waiting for this moment so much!!! You're my favorite English teacher on RU-vid. I love learning from you, because you've all the qualities that allow us, your students, to improve our English. This section of learning with series is great and what better than with you!!! Please, keep making more videos like this!!! And thank you very much for everything that, without you knowing it, you've helped me!!
Thank you, Stefanie! I'm able to improve my English because of your videos. Rooting for you since the day I discovered your videos. I'm a call center agent now and my colleagues said I have a good English accent. I basically learn it from you haha. I downloaded your videos and listen to them everytime. Thankies.
This is fantastic! the best way to learn english is to learn from these original clips with your great explaination. English never sounds hard again! keep up with it!
I'm so grateful for your video. I like how easy it is to digest what you explain. Recently I've struggled with fast english, I wonder how to comprehend such movies. Now I feel a lot better. You really made my day. Thanks a million from Viet Nam.
Although I'm focusing right now on modern RP accent, this video is really, really helpful for all English learners because you explain so clearly why native speakers reduce sounds, how they do it, and how learners can do the same. Yes, it takes time to understand native speakers and to speak pretty much like a native speaker, but it is a rewarding goal! Please, do more videos like this! I think interviews are good examples of natural English because TV shows and movies follow scripts, but interviews are how native speakers really use the language: contractions, full forms, reductions, and connected speech. p.s.: You seemed a little embarrassed about the pronunciation of HORrible, the pun was not intended! XD
Loved the video! If possible I think it would be perfect if you can include the whole clip at the end so we can check our listening of the whole thing at a time.Thank you so much! 🥰🥰
Wonderful video! I loved it! I'm an English professor and have seen so many videos about pronunciation, but yours is one of the best I've seen! Your explanations are very clear. I'll show this to my students. Thanks a lot and congrats! :D
Hi, Stephanie! Thank you very much for this lesson, I enjoyed it very much. I think that's the best way to increase listening and speaking skills: by hearing native people talking. Please, do it more like these! I just think that shorter videos, focusing on specific topics of the language, might get more attractive for the majority of people.
Wow, it was amazing channel. I am so happy because you explain American English very well and easy to understand. Thank you so much my best English Coach… Regards from Indonesia… ❤
