I've said this before (hopefully to you) and I'll say it again; You're a true Master, Steve. Ever growing. A True Artist. The Real Deal. Brilliant

Sargent is one of my favorite artists of all time. Nice take on him, Steve.

Strange online world we live in: only 108 'likes' for this excellent video exposition and lesson. Is that what happens when genuine talent does not focus on 'being a celebrity' but rather just gets on with providing a great experience in understanding and learning?

Lovely Sargent study, and also lovely sentiment. You are very wise to know that every new painting is indeed a journey into the unknown, with new challenges and excitement, despite many years of experience. That's how it's always seemed to me, too. And glad to see you on YT!--I recall a Poison Ivy piece of yours that I saw as a teen and loved and remembered for so many years as a classic, iconic, and sultry rendering of that character.

Appreciate the kind words on the Sargent study. The watercolor/prisma experiments are common trials for me, usually with mixed results. Not sure why it's always mixed, but it is. I've pretty much traced it back to the Prisma, which is waxy, not opaque, and doesn't always behave like it should. Much of this technique is gleaned off my good friend Drew Struzan, whom I've known for over 20 years now. He seems to have an almost supernatural control over his methodology. I take it you're an artist, Hajra? Till the next journey,

I met Steve some years ago at a convention. It was my second time exhibiting and he gave me his blessings and even a couple tips on drawing. I’m still chipping away at becoming the artist I always wanted to be. Thank you Steve for being such an inspiration.

I would LOVE to know if you did anything to the pencil sketch prior to going over it with the watercolor wash? I find the pencil/charcoal dulls my washes. I really appreciate how you lay down the watercolor in such efficient strokes. I can't imagine how many hours it took to get so confident. Thank you so much.

Steve, I love your art. You did Sargent proud. Amazing how beautifully you captured the mood and light that Sargent created with oil paints. And you did it with your preferred mediums. I hope you continue to post your demos with plenty of narration.

Do you fix the charcoal drawing before doing the washes over them?

Inspiring and entertaining. Two questions: did you spray fixative over the pencil drawing and how long did you spend total on this beautiful work?
