And there we go, finishing up the vocabulary session on the body. Again, this doesn't include every last little noun that could be named in this context, but I hope to have covered what you definitely need and maybe a little more.
RWW:
das Gummi(band), die Gummis/Gummibänder (n.) - rubber (band)

What you need to do to be my intro:
Record yourself saying the following things:
"Hallo Leute! Ich bin ___ (You can say whatever you want here - name, (youtube) nickname, where you live, where you're from, why you're learning German, or anything else you'd like, one or more things. It's best if you do this part in German, too, but if you're too shy, English is fine as well - just try to keep the video to roughly 10 seconds or shorter) und ihr seht Deutsch Für Euch!"
Please don't edit your videos; if you'd like something changed (e.g. color correction), let me know in your email. I'll make sure to make you look as good as possible anyway, though ;)
I can use a lot of video formats, but your safest bets are the usual candidates: .avi, .mov, .mp4 - DON'T use .dv, please.
Once you're happy with your video, send it to me via ONE of these channels:
attach the video to an email to dfekontakt@gmail.com
send me a DropBox link/invite me to a folder (also dfekontakt@gmail.com)
send me a link to a the video on RU-vid, also via mail
please title your message "DFE Intro"
There's NO time limit for this, this will be an on-going thing as long as you send me videos.
I'm looking forward to your submissions - feel free to get creative with it! :)

hi. I watched all of your videos in a week, i think i pretty well digested all of your videos so far since i ve been studying basic German already... thanks a lot for posting. and like others, i also would like to have some pause between words, it s going too fast to read plural form and grammar gender(even though you can also know this by color)... that s the only thing i wish for so far ^^... I should also make videos like this for Korean language... someday... ! bye!

I know this is about German, which I'm working on, but in Spanish the backside is called "la cola.". So it isn't a good idea to go into a Mexican restaurant and order a "cola.". Order a "soda," or more commonly a "coca" if you're after a coca cola or whatever they have in that flavor. 😉. I'm sure you can come up with some goodies like that for German.

Gute Besserung für deinen Fuß! Der Hintern ist ein schwieriges Thema. So richtig rein "sachlich" ist bei uns nur das Wort "Gesäß", sogar "Hinterteil" wird als relativ grob empfunden, weil es dem Wort "Hintern" sehr nahe kommt. "Po" sagt man ja eher zu Kindern oder sehr eng Vertrauten.

Hallo Katja, may I ask you how would it be the right written way in German of what you have said about your foot at the end of the video as an example to connect the vocabulary? Viel Danke und eine Große Arbeit immer von Ihnen

One of my biggest problems with learning German is the gender. I know that "der" is masculine, "die" is feminine and "das" is neuter, but is there an easy way of knowing which gender a word is otherwise?

In most of the U.S. we say "rubberband", but it is common in Western Pennsylvania (around Pittsburgh) to say "gumband". I wonder if this version is due to the large German population in this area shortening "gummiband" to "gumband". Do people in German refer to it as a Gumband for short?
@fremejoker
@fremejoker 8 лет назад
+Bill Kammermeier Nope, the possible short version would be either Band or Gummi.
@billkammermeier
@billkammermeier 8 лет назад
+Tobias Schwarz in modern German sure. I'm talking about how German influenced a dialect of English over a hundred years ago.
@fremejoker

Bill Kammermeier Hm, didn't you ask: "Do people in German refer to it as a Gumband for short?" or do I miss something?

Hallo Katia! Thank you for another great video, I'm so chuffed with myself that I can speak some German now. If I may, your use of the word pejorative is slightly wrong. I think perhaps you meant derogative, however this relates to a negative or offensive description of something. You might say simply "keep things clean", or as you are musically minded, a polite person would say "I do not wish to lower the tone". I hope I'm not patronising you! Your English is fantastic of course.
@DeutschFuerEuch
@DeutschFuerEuch 10 лет назад
Thank you! :) I don't remember where I used that word here, could you remind me?
@MrChrisluke42
@MrChrisluke42 10 лет назад
Of course, its at 4.35. It's a fantastic word, pejorative, and your English is excellent. If you have the time I recommend reading some Shakespeare out loud. Your diction will become crisp and it will make you sound more poetic and 'fluid'. Thanks again!

and just short question, how long do you think it will take to get B1 of ZD(by Goethe institut)...? and how intense of commitment do i need to make? if you ever generalize this? ex) about 2 months, if you study 5 days a week / 2 hours per day?

Starting to try and learn German and I've been working my way through some of your videos- they're amazing! Really helpful, thank you! I'm just wondering why the 'e' at the end of 'Schritte' is not pronounced? I thought there would be a short 'uh' sound, I guess this is not always the case then?
@fluffylynx
@fluffylynx 10 лет назад
I don't know if you'd still like to know about it, but she made a mistake there. Singular and what she said is "der Schritt". Plural would be "die Schritte" with the "uh" sound in the end. She wrote down the plural twice.

I find it interesting that so many words are connected with a female definite, ive been keeping track of the random words of the week aswell and I notice the majority fals under that category. Is this more or less true throughout the whole language, or am I just seeing something thats not there?
@DeutschFuerEuch
@DeutschFuerEuch 10 лет назад
I'm afraid that is an observation that is going to lead you nowhere... the only patterns one can see with genders is with some endings, besides that it is very random. So no, I don't think you should look depper into that theory.
