Tired of getting your butt kicked by a measly Scavenger? Do You fear the host will kick you from the game because you don’t bring anything of value to the team? Do you have a case of really bad aim? Don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place.
The FAF-14 Spear is one of the most powerful weapons in the Helldivers 2. Capable of dealing with heavy enemies and structures, the weapon also has an insane lock on range that makes it really useful for avoiding combat or eliminating threats before they become a problem.
Even though the Spear has a lock on, that doesn't mean the weapon does all the work for you. In this video I will show you how to aim the FAF-14 Spear, as weird as it sounds, to eliminate in a single shot heavy enemies in the Bug Front, like Bile Titans or Chargers.
You will find in this video a valuable technique with the Spear that will take you to the next level and make you become a real master of that weapon.

You can look down while locking on and place the lock-on triangle at the top edge of the lock-on circle to reduce the optimal distance for a weakspot hit. This technique is good for hitting charger foreheads who may be quite close. It is not good for bile titans as you want to rocket to fly upwards to strike the forehead weakspot. Also keep in mind that spear locks on centre-mass therefore move so that your target’s weakspot (titan forehead or dropship thruster) is in between you and the lock on triangle. Thanks for the helpful tip, I'll test it on my next matches now that the spear finally doesn't crash your game. And, yeah, you are right... to destroy Dropships you need to align yourself with the thruster so the spear locks-on to it and hits it. Yeah, 28 meters is the minimum distance to reliably hit the BT's and Chargers, sometimes at 26 and 27 you will hit, but it is a gamble. Another advantage of being at 28 meters is that you are close enough to actually calculate if you are aligned with the weakspot of the enemy.

If you look at the minimap, any enemy that appears as a large red dot can be locked-on to

Wow, I didn't notice that. That could explain why you can lock-on to Brood Commanders and Scout Striders. They appear as big red dots in the minimap because the game considers them large enemies like Bile Titans or Chargers so you can lock-on.

also an important thing to point out is that the enemy needs to be facing you in order for you to reliably one shot them

That is completely right. There is a language barrier that didn't help me to be more clear about that. In my clips you can see that when the enemy is not facing me, the spear hits non lethal parts, but when the enemy does face me, they expose the hitbox of their head, thus letting me one shot them.

It takes time to get used to always check if you are at least 28 meters afar from the enemy and that the head of the enemy is facing towards you or aligned with you, but the reward of mastering the technique is really helpful in high difficulties. Now that I do it naturally, my squad never has to worry about BT's or Chargers.
