Fully agree on Jaeger. It’s a German name and at least to me it seems legitimate to pronounce it in its original language. Most Swiss Germans do so. On the other hand Edmond Jaeger was born in Alsace which was French at the time (before it became German and then French again). Edmond went to Paris before teaming up with LeCoultre based in the Vallée de Joux. Not surprisingly the brand itself uses the French pronunciation. Although this seems to be the preferred way you could get away with the German version.
Tudor. Family name of fairly early English Kings and Queens, including the infamous Henry the eighth. Pronounce it like “ Chew - duh”. Also, your repeating “ Hublot, Hublot,” reminded me of the wonderful 1950s JaquesTati film ‘ Les vacances de Monsieur Hulot ’ or ‘Monsieur Hulot’s Holiday’ in English.
To the people suggesting Jaeger should be pronounced with a German accent: Edmond Jaeger was a frenchman, born in Andlau, Alsace, a region of France both nowadays and when he was born, so you should pronounce both Jaeger and LeCoultre like he's pronouncing them, with a French accent.
Well, however in Alsace Jaeger is pronounced the German way. It doesn't mean when a region is located in France that they all speak French. In Alsace many (older) people speak a mixture between a German dialect and some French words included! So pronouncing Jaeger the German way seems more correct to me than to pronounce it French! 🤔
So he likely would’ve still pronounced his name the German way but to end the argument, all people from geneva pronounce Jaeger like the German way and Le Coultre in french
Your ironic "facepalm" pronounciation of Seiko (セイコー) is actually quite correct, the "i" is diminished and sometimes even reduced completely to just a simple stop.
It's probably not in the same league as the brands you mentioned but in the UK Raymond Weil is usually pronounced as Raymond Wheel. I understand that it really sounds like Raymon Vay in French. Thank you for the education.
Being a swiss german, your french is not bad. Though french NEVER emphasize on the first syllable. Hope that your viewers follow your instructions anyway 👍
It's humorous to me that while looking to hear the pronunciation of Yema, a French brand, I've come across two Frenchmen who made pronunciation videos and neither mentions Yema. Is it Yem-a, Yay-ma, or Yaw-ma?
I want to know how to pronounce MAJESTRON!! I have an old one, very likely worth the cost of making it to begin with. But I can't find anywhere to show me how to pronounce it and it's making me insane because of my OCD. How is it pronounced????
Well, Tissot is located in the French speaking part of Switzerland (Le Locle). Therefore it's pronounced French: "Tisso". (You don't pronounce the last letter "t".)
@@watchcraft Also, Rolex are originally an English brand from London, England, so the English pronounciation is the only correct one, same principle for every brand, otherwise people could just pronounce every brand wrongly. Glad you mentioned Omega, big O, oh-mega, I am irritated by people calling it Omeeega.
