In this video, I show you (step by step) how to design these earrings in Cricut Design Space. Then I cut them from Denim, Cork, and Leather. See what I discovered was causing some fails when cutting these earrings.

If you don't have a hole puncher You could slice the earring hole with a .15 inch circle and also don't pull materials from the matt, pull the matt off the material if that makes sense. Hope that helps.

I love your tutorials Marilyn. I'm new to Cricut and bought it to make cork earrings to complement my cork bags. I think I've binged watched all your cork earring tutorials now. :)

Thank you for your comment!!! I hope you end up loving your Cricut as much as I love mine. You will face obstacles along the way, but I try to look at those as opportunities to learn:)

Thanks, this was a huge help! Thank you for sharing your learning errors with us as well. Did you use the school glue and water solution on all of them or just the denim pair
@MakingwithMarilyn
@MakingwithMarilyn 2 года назад
I used it on just the denim pair in this video. I've used it on several other types of fabric as well. When I use a true cork, that doesn't have a layer of fabric bonded on the back (like in this video), I do not use it. When I am using a cork fabric (with fabric bonded to the back), I either use this solution or put 2 layers back to back with heat n bond in the middle. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for sharing the entire project- especially your fails as we all learned a valued lesson with cutting leather and making sure our mats are super sticky! I did not know that you can turn a score line into a cut line, plus I like that you showed us how to create our own design without paying for a template.

I have been wanting to make earrings like this. Sorry you had so many fails but glad you showed us what to do to rectify the problem. I wish you would still tell us where you get all of your supplies. Is that a findings kit or just little containers you have put your findings in to organize them? Great video!
@MakingwithMarilyn
@MakingwithMarilyn 4 года назад
Thanks Karen! I bought the metallic leather and cork from Springfield Leather Company, and the denim is from a pair of my husband's old jeans:) I bought the findings from Walmart, Michaels, Joann Fabric, and Hobby Lobby. They are in an organizer. I hope you make the earrings soon and that you are successful!

Don't feel bad that you have the opportunity to teach us how to recover when these things happen. Thank you for teaching how to design these fringe earrings, I'm looking forward to trying out designing some.

Try using painters tape instead and use the fine point blade on more pressure. You may need to do a second cut.

did you use for the denim earrings heavy fabric like denim setting with the rotary blade. Love your earrings and tutorials
@MakingwithMarilyn
@MakingwithMarilyn 2 года назад
Yes, but sometimes I have to add "more" pressure in place of the "default" pressure when I have added fabric stiffener. Thank you so much for watching!!!

I am laughing so hard at your comment! Now that it's all over, I can do that. I was walking around the room gathering supplies for the rest of the video:) During the next cuts, I stayed really close to the machine!

Did you use faux leather? Will this work on the Explore Air 2?
@MakingwithMarilyn
@MakingwithMarilyn 3 года назад
I used fabric, cork, and genuine leather. I haven't used an Explore Air 2, but Cricut's website shows that it can cut even genuine leather. I stay with relatively thin leather on my Maker. I have seen a lot of RU-vid videos of people using Explore Air 2 machines to cut faux leather, so you should be fine with it. Thank you for watching!

For some reason when I select the project, with earring and square shape included, my slice option does not show up. I called the Cricut people for help but they were unable to understand what I was talking about. Weld, attach, and flatten are all there but slice is greyed out. :( Can anyone help me??
@MakingwithMarilyn
@MakingwithMarilyn 3 года назад
Did you weld your triangle and rectangle together first so that it is just one object?
@asuprofesora
@asuprofesora 3 года назад
You can only slice one object at a time so make sure the rectangle and triangle are welded together first to create one object. Then try slicing. Oh duh- what Marilyn said above!
