I'm raising the flop because it's the only street where we definitely have the best hand unless a 2,6,7,8 or 9 rolls off. Never put it past a limper to be in there with 53 or 43, get it HU vs a hand that you know has connected with the flop and the later streets will be easy for you.

I think this is something to examine. It’s definitely been a barrier for me in my Poker journey. Wanting to make the game tree easier to navigate is not the same thing as improving, or even playing better. He did raise the flop, however reasons are all that really matter in this game. And the real difference between players is the quality of their reasons. I think important questions to ask yourself if you want to improve, is what does your range look like in this spot? If you raise flop, in a multi way pot, do you have any bluffs? Do you need to have bluffs? Why or why not? What hands are you targeting in your opponents range that can continue? How prevalent are they in their range (how often do you expect folds)? Does your opponent(S) have any bluffs? What does their range look like in terms of value to bluff ratio? Is there range simply linear (they don’t have bluffs, just varying degrees of strength)? Or are they playing way to many hands? How accurate is your heuristic of measuring these things in real time? And then finally, look into the best bet sizes to accomplish your game plan. You have to know how you are generating EV, not how you will win the hand. I think if you pay attention to how Bart is thinking through these spots rather than his end product decision or evaluation, you will be much better served. This degree of analysis is very different from, limpers ranges are wide, and that means they can improve on a lot of cards. I don’t want to get sucked out on. I will bet. You get the same decision of raising, but only one of these thought processes has a shot of navigating to the highest EV position in the game tree. I think if you simply spend time thinking about these questions on various textures and scenarios, it will open up this game for you in a way that making future decisions easier will never do. There are tons of resources out there. I’m just another lost poker soul trying to learn this brutally hard, but beautiful game. I’m certainly not where I want to be yet, and I’m not in a position to tell anyone how to play. But I am in the weeds studying, and working hard on improving everyday. The real danger to growth is trying to protect our selves from feeling uncomfortable. Growth is uncomfortable. Embrace the swings, embrace the grind, embrace difficult decisions. Best of luck out there!

I think maybe $400 can get Jx to fold but with Zeebo issues I like to go a lot more, also J2 we'd have a very hard time getting out for the same reasons people are more likely to call with a low flush on a 4-flush board if they already had the flush on the 3-flush board. $400 is ok against Asian/Euro's , $850 against American rec's

I'd probably give up on the river because I just think they have more than twice as much AX as JX between AJ and AXss, but it is certainly a cool bluff when it works. The other weird thing is 22 is one of the worst possible bluff candidates in terms of blockers but I don't know how else we'd get to the river with a hand with 0 showdown value.

This reminds me of a hand I played years ago, in $8/16 limit. I was the SB with 22. UTG raised, 4 callers, I call and BB 3-bets. Button 4 bets, BB caps at 5. We go 7 ways to flop of Jc6h2h. I check BB bets, UTG raises, everyone else calls and I 3 bet, UTG 4 bets, I cap, and we wind up 6 ways to the turn of Jh. I bet, BB calls, UTG raises, all others call, I 3 bet and all call. River Qs. I bet and now BB raises, and still ALL call. I know I'm beat by exactly QQ, but the pot is insane. I call. BB does have QQ. The amazing part was one player has Ah10h, another has KhQh, one guy has AJ off, and the other has KJ. So I only had to dodge 2 aces, 2 kings, one queen and the remaining sixes; but obviously a 6 on the river is an easy fold.

Ax isn’t leading flop into a field unless it’s 2 pair after limping pre flop. 100% he had J2. Hero should have folded on the turn to the click back. It’s easier to narrow an opponent’s range earlier in a hand when it’s multi-way.

@@AT-bw4cm I'm a nit, but I'd be happy leading into the field with a pair of Aces in a limped pot. If I block top pair, the chances of someone else having two pair or a set aren't that good, and if it's not a draw heavy board, it's probably going to check through. There's nothing wrong with betting when you have the best hand, and it's very likely going to check through. It's ridiculous to assume that anyone leading in a limped pot has two pair+ on the flop.

14 min in and what I'm a bit confused is are the players that bad in that part of the country that sb and button possibly would limp? I guess where I'm coming from is that here in Vegas in 1/3 and 2/5 it's becoming a lot less common seeing folks limp an AJ hand from the B or SB. I still see it don't get me wrong but just considerably less than just a couple years ago or even a year ago. Am I off here? by raising the flop, you tell the SB you don't have an ace (only A2 would play this way) what ace u can have that didn't raise pre but is now raising flop 7 ways, 2nd to act. So opponent should call your river bluff... assuming they don't have K high or a random pocket pair that got here some way.

I think players are generally bad enough at these stakes to take this line with Jx (I’m only on the turn x/r fwiw, but wanted to post comment before hand reveal). I think in theory we call a ton on most rivers, but live low stakes cash players boggle my mind, as an online tourney player I just find these HHs utterly baffling most of the time 😂 Edit: okay, literally worst river imageable lol. SB doesn’t have many bluffs here, extremely Ax/Jx heavy. River seems like an EZ x back. If we get raised we hate life. Just finished video, betting 22 here IP OTR seems… not great. Wouldn’t SB be inclined to x and let hero bluff at this when they’re nutted? Betting as SB makes no sense (with a boat) bc what are you ever getting called by other than an occasional chop? Hero kinda accidentally took a line that always seems like Ax when V obv has Jx, and got a pretty big fold from better.

2s and 3s win more when playing 8 and 9 handed. Don't ask me why it's just math. 2s and 3s are technically below average hands 6 handed. I guess because these hands pretty much only win by set mining so you want bigger pots/more players putting in upfront. I'm sure I'll get torn up for this comment. You can literally look up how often certain hands will win in pots with x amount of other players, and then you see that in certain situations 2s and 3s are not good.
