Tip # 3 for saving your money, start shopping at the dollar stores, thirft stores, discount grocery stores and garage sales to put money back into your pockets.
Very true! I talk about that all the time in my videos how much those type of stores save you. Unless of course, you go in there and just spend mindlessly LOL
Yes mam!! The scratch and dent saved us $400! We got a much better quality for half the price. So instead of $800 we paid $400. Best purchase ever!!! When we do need a fridge I'll do the same
I have hundreds of 50's table cloths, I never throw out the ones with holes, Use for pillow covers, napkins, place mats, curtains hankie's , bedspreads, quilts, I make gifts out of then.
Emme! First let me say that I watch your content all the time; love what you share and am blessed to learn and take advantage of all the tips that you send out. But this no-sew pillow case...AMAZING! I LOVE it! I’m going to do this moving forward.
I've recently had to buy some appliances. I went to an outlet store, and there, I went to the scratch and dent section. Got great deals! It was amazing! Always shop the discount stands in grocery stores..I save a lot of money that way. I also look for discontinued items. When you said lamps, the first thing I thought of was thrift stores! I found some throw pillows that I loved but they were $33 each! I'd NEVER pay that! I waited and waited and waited. I just figured it was too bad...I wouldn't get those pillows. Then, as I walked through the store once much later, I found the last of those pillows on sale for $3 each! You can bet I got a few! I do see and I love it. I don't know how to run a house without a sewing machine. It was the first thing I bought when I first left home! But I couldn't buy the fabric and make the pillows that came down to $3 for less...so I bought them, still have them and still use them 😊 Love listening to you as always!
Jonna I love your attitude! You sound just like me. I will wait no matter how bad I want some thing until it goes on clearance or I find a cheaper elsewhere! Thank you so much for being a part of our channel💕
Frugal Angel's took care of me today. I called for furnace repair he said would be here 7 the next morning. He didnt show called another company arrived in 15mints & 1/2 the price quoted from the other guy.
That pillow hack😍 I love your enthusiasm it is so very encouraging! I wanted to share with you that today for the first time EVER I went into the Dollar Store purposefully! I went in with my list and left with my cards, a lighter for my candles, scotch tape and cotton balls. That was for sure because of the support and encouragement from you and Paul! Your channel is such a blessing💕 I hope you have a wonderful weekend😁
For outdoor pillows, I use shopping bags from TJ Maxx and Dollar tree. I stuff with an old pillow and sew closed. These are water proof bags and perfect for patios.
Years ago in California I knew of 2 Sears outlets for scratch and dent appliances. I bought my fridge, washer and dryer that way. They told me sometimes they even have perfect models that were returned because they were the wrong color when delivered, but because they had been unboxed they could no longer be sold as new despite NEVER having been used.
One of the best ways to live rich on a small budget is to learn how to never pay full price for anything. There are so many great ways to save money on your everyday purchases, which means more money left in your budget.
The wrapping of the pillow to give it a new decorative look???? VERY NICE, EMMY! :) I WILL TRY....Have an awesome day out there, U2! Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
Fantastic video, Emmy! This one was chock full of helpful content! Loved the idea about asking about "scratch and dent"...I'll have to remember that for future appliances. And I've had some great bargains in my time, but never a whole bag of rolls for .01 cent! Wow!!! You can't beat that price, lol! The throw pillow covers were ingenious! I agree with Dixie's bark of approval of this video, and give you a "paws" up, too!
I like your idea of thinking through a need or goal in terms of what you might have around the house or might be available for a fraction of the usual cost. The point is to think and be patient waiting for the opportunity to present itself. Well done
I bought a dishwasher a few years ago and when unboxing it it had a small dent near the bottom. I called and they gave me $30 gift card to spend in the store. I used the gift card to buy resettable fuses. Here the cost around $15 each.
Hi Emmy and Paul, thanks for your advice. I purchased a huge outdoor grill ( we need it one, we live Florida) worth $1,500 for $450 with a small dent in a corner, well my husband and I took it home , we placed a flower plant near the dent and that was it, just perfect. Thanks Emmy and Paul.
At my local Italian centre stores (it’s a small chain), they package the meat end & cheese end together in sealed bags & sell them at a slight discount. Sometimes the discount is substantial. I always buy the meat end for my sandwiches. Good quality meat without preservatives at a discount!
Now that’s fantastic ! Throw pillow recover amd no sew!! I’m screaming like you in the store with the 1cent rolls over this pillow business!! Great video!
We bought our last refrigerator for 750 and it was originally 2200!!! It has quite a few dents that I cover with photos . It also had some dents on the side that showed through metal color . I just used some white paint I had and once it dried no one notices . Love all your tips
We have had our Samsung T.V. for 12 years. We also take our kids old “good products” for ex: we have a tv in our garage and shed free, kids wanted bigger and better! We also have 2 large gardens and when the neighbor offered us beets and zucchini my hubby brought them home and what we didn’t eat froze zucchini for bread and canned the beets will come in handy this winter❤️😀
This was a very good video. I agree with you people shouldn’t care what other people think. But we’re so raise in a society where possessions means so much to people and to keep up with the Joneses!😍❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
I found at the Dollar Tree pillow zipper slip covers that I stuffed for the summer throw blankets and blankets the grandkids no longer use inside each pillow. So now when the grandkids come over they love using them for their pillow 😃
Thanks for the tips👍 I bought a lampshade for my reading lamp and it was really bland, I went to the market and got some tassels on some ribbon (honestly they look nice!) and attached them the the bottom of the lampshade 👍 and to brighten up the living room I made patchwork cushion covers with left over material from other projects, I love how bright they are!
Good tips. I wonder if the double sided tape sold at dollar tree would also work to cover pillows. If not, the one in store where sold fabric should. If you didn't have a pillow you could buy the batting cheap and make one a d just take that tape off to recover or just recover that one. I can't see either .
Oh Emmy - I love this pillow idea! Right up to the end I was thinking “This is going to look sloppy. How can this work?” And then you finished and I love it! Thank you for another great idea!👏
I just loved the technique for wrapping the pillow, it looked amazing! Thank you for sharing. You are a real blessing to all of us. One thing i have tried, because i tend to favor antique vintage looks is taking an old doily and just hand basting it to the front of plain material that i want to use for a new pillow covering. Then just sew up the sides of the material to make a pillow casing. You have a unique one of a kind pillow that is lacey and looks much fancier than it actually is. Have a great weekend.
Emmy! I’m a MINIMALIST and don’t like a lot of stuff, I pay for experiences such as international travel 🧳. I don’t even have a TV! Do you have any tips for international travel?
Oh gosh no, I’m so sorry. I don’t travel internationally. I think it’s wonderful that you appreciate the experiences over the items! Thanks for watching!
For me, I buy great quality clothing only. I ask myself, is this stuff in the way of my International travels and marathons? Will this stuff go to the basement?
Well, first of all, research is key : google and facebook questions. Which are the lowest price places to eat, if there are hidden taxes that no one talks about. We usually rent an appartment and we go with another friends, which cuts the cost of housing but also you can cook there. I always take my own coffee woth me, since everywhere is really expensive, and I only drink maybe once when in a town I visit, just foe the experience. But usually coffe and drinks add up a lot, so that is one tip. I usually find the nearest cheap supermarket first, so even if you stay in a hotel, you can still prepare some lunch sandwiches. Always search for cards if available (like transportation and museum cards that cit the costs, in Europe most city provide some facilities). I usually cary with me.some protein bars that I bring from home, since people tend to spend a lot when they get hungry. And we try to visit extra season or not on big Holidays, when everyrhing is more expensive. Also, if you can go in the middle of the week, it is always cheaper than in the weekends, but it depends on the city. Hope it helps!:)
Mam your videos is so helpful n inspire me alot ...May God bless you both with good health n happiness. Love all the way from Nagaland India .Stay safe .
Hot damn! I will be covering some throw pillows around here. What a great idea! I have done that sort of thing and then held in together in the back with safety pins. This is much better idea!! Thanks for sharing. Years ago I bought scratch and dent brand new washing machine and a refrigerator. Like you said..little dent/crease where no one could see it. The side of top of fridge dent .... I just put a cloth on top of the fridge and it hung over enough to cover the dent. All great ideas...and those rolls for a penny!! eek!
LOL! So glad you like the pillow hack! It's so fun to switch them up monthly for all the different holidays! Thanks Sis for always being such a great supporter of our channel!!
Love this video, your enthousiasm and the energy you put out...! I am not a seemstress either, so the idea about the non-sew pillow covers...wonderful! Looking forward to your next video, blessings to you, Paul and your family too! Love from Belgium x
There is a grocery store in WI festival foods that puts dented cans or boxes that might be ripped in banana boxes and used to sell them for $10.00 i got 8 large ground coffee in 1 box!! I wish more places did this!! Love your channel!
Thank you so much! What a deal that was on the coffee! I have to be honest I am NOT a fan of dented cans. I worry about food born illness. Thanks so much for watching!
@@FrugalMoneySaver hello these are those bug plastic containers.. I dont like dented cans either for the same reason.. If a box of cereal is ripped and the bag is still sealed im good with that.. Love your channel!!
Most of us can't buy "in bulk" and effectively use up, or for that matter store, so often times we pass on bulk purchases... Develop a "co-op" of friends that are willing to share in the cost if you come across a really good deal..For instance I bought 15 dozen eggs @ 88 cents a dozen and 4 of my friends were happy to buy three dozen at a time for 90 cents each dozen. The GF and I also have taken the time to learn how to repackage excess through vacuum sealing and storing or freezing.. Or for that matter cooking in bulk, and if need be, can it for a later date..
Love the throw pillow cover ideas!!! I wonder what grocery stores do with the suegras (the butt ends of deli meats and cheeses - what my husband’s family calls them cuz no one ever wants them “mother-in-laws”) lol
Love, love, love the pillow idea (I am NOT a sower either) I've got a couple of ugly stained pillows that are going to become beautiful! Meant to tell you I tried the spaghetti pie but used sliced zucchini instead of pasta. I can't keep leftovers in the fridge. Thanks for the recipe.
I do have a ton of vintage jewelry from my mom and grandmother but this necklace is actually "vintage inspired." The brand is 1928 Jewelry. Thanks for watching!
Morning Love the vlog thanks for all the tips I do look for reduced food only last night I found 2 boxes of mushrooms for half price That's leek and mushroom pie Mushroom soup and mushroom risotto all for a pound Love the cushion idea Nice to see you Stay safe xx
