Brilliant work, you can tell that you are an expert with that sewing machine. It would take me all day to make that headrest on my cylinder arm machine and still wouldn't be as good!

@@CallMyReg I'm using a standard flat walking foot machine but the machine you use looks alot easier on the tricky bits I struggle with on mine so I may look into another machine. I've subscribe and look forward to more video. Thanks again

Shaun hi Shaun I worked on this type of machine for 18 years it’s called a post machine and they are mostly used for making shoes and boots but if you can use one you can make almost anything with them

@@CallMyReg Hi thanks for replying, it would be great if you could do a video, I can not find any video or info anywhere on the type of headrests i have, The metal bits don't come out and the original vinyl that is on there seems to be bonded to the foam inside so i'm thinking i just have to make a leather cover and leave the old vinyl inside ?? but i just can't figure out how to go about it. i am a furniture upholsterer by the way. cheers

Call My Reg thanks for getting back to me, and so quickly too! Yeah was just worried about how faux leather would last and especially during the summers too! I will definitely give it a go though now you’ve said it should be okay! Thanks man! Nice work
@CallMyReg
@CallMyReg 5 лет назад
Sebastian George faux leather works just as well as long as you don’t leave them in the sun for long periods of time , Real leather hides are better they can be treated with hide food and can last a lifetime if looked after.
@user-cq5ro6rd1r
@user-cq5ro6rd1r 5 лет назад
Call My Reg ahh brill, thank you. I think I will go for the faux leather. When you say long periods of time, is that like leaving it abandoned in the sun and not moving it or is general everyday sun okay for it? It will be for a daily driver but I’m a bit concerned about the summer coming around and shrinking the seats?

Awesome video and result! Thanks a lot, and I had no idea that these plastic strips could be glued with this type of melting glue gun :-) Also, I see that these post bed sewing machines are much better than my flat bed machine... I would like to have it too, if I had enough space!! ;-)

Knowledge Gangsta hello mate and thank you for your comments. The conventional sewing machine for upholstery is a walking foot however I’ve been working on a singer post machine for 36 years which are designed for making shoes and boots which I was doing for 20 years So if you get to know a machine you can do most anything with it .

The clean circles at the end would stop the material tearing. Leaving it as you did, it could tear with kids swinging on them etc.
@CallMyReg
@CallMyReg 6 лет назад
Hello and thank you for your opinion Firstly this is just a quick demo of trimming a head rest However in all the years we have been trimming we have trimmed circles as you call them and reinforced others also We have taken many hundreds of interiors apart but have never come across abused head rests or seen them split or torn from those s positions Trimmed hundreds of leather ones and left them as in this demo and with circles and have never had any returned for this problem. Regards Tony
