Hang your body over your hands! In this video I share with you some key exercises that you must put in practice to learn, improve or strengthen the suspension of your hips over your arms.
In the floor work (low level) you will frequent a lot this posture when dancing contemporary dance. So, whether you are just starting to tackle this dance genre or your upper body is not your strongest and suspensions are not working for you, I hope each tip is super useful for you to put into practice in your workouts.
If you get exhausted quickly because of lack of habit, don't get discouraged, it's part of the process! Constancy is a must, so activate your body and start training.
ATTENTION - (It doesn't happen to you alone) Personally, my arms are one of the areas of my body that requires more attention because for a couple of years, for various factors, I had been training more ballet than contemporary dance. However, since some time ago, I was able to resume my training and search in this genre and I proposed to seriously strengthen myself in this particular area (arms/chest/back) to create and propose more forms from the ground.
Dancing contemporary dance will always mean an infinite search in the body, space, time, mind and spirit. So I recommend you ALWAYS to look for other dancers, teachers, schools and spaces for training in the performing arts such as the circus or the theatre, who will provide you with tools that, like these I share with you today, will add to your knowledge and you will be able to improve your technique and movement day by day.
