Rod, I just wanted to say "Thank You" for allowing the public to have free access to your teaching talent. I cannot afford to take tap lessons, and if I could afford it they aren't offered in my area. I have one son in high school one on the way to college and one just finished college, I have gone back to college for an Accounting degree, so money is pretty much non-existent. I did however purchase a pair of tap shoes from a neighbors rummage sale and am using them. Thanks again, you're great!
I fell in love with tap dancing but classes aren't available in my area. I can't really tap at home, even barefoot because of neighbors. People in town are obsessed with every little noise as well. But I didn't give up and finally found a practice room for rent. I can barely afford 2 hours a week but those are the best 2 hours in my life. Thanks to you I can follow my passion. Thank you for helping people in parts of the world where there aren't many opportunities.
I went to the "beginners" class to learn but those beginners were actually tapping to "42nd Street" with a big finish! So the teacher didn't have time to teach me anything. Luckily I found your video and it was so amazingly helpful and I definitely learnt something here. Thank you so very much, Rodney, from the bottom of my heart!
My pleasure, glad I could help. This sometimes happen with beginner classes that have students that have been tapping for a while. Hopefully my lessons can catch you up:)
***** I'm happy to report that after #1, #2 and #3 of your video I returned to the class and although it's still a looooooooong way to go, it was so much easier to understand/follow what the teacher was saying!! I ended up purchasing your lesson and it's so worth it! (The whole 12 lessons of yours is just a tiny bit more than what I pay for one lesson!) I highly highly recommend your course for absolute beginners!! Thanks a million, Rodney!
Brielle jacobs If the class is an "open" class (anyone can join any time) and you have never ever tapped before, this video is highly highly highly recommended, even just the first 3 of his classes, because you can learn the absolute basics at your own pace. You will not be left out in the class like I was!
thanks koalaoyaji3 I did do the first 3, now I'm redoing. Its hard to tell if I'm doing it right lol. But I am able to do the toe taps on one leg each now so it's gotta be working!
He’s such an amazing teacher! I’ve bought the first two levels so far and will be getting the other levels when I get there. I wish I could find other types of dance (ballet, musical theater, etc) that have a teacher like him too. Thanks United Taps!!!
I haven't tapped since I was little and I watched Happy Feet last night which made me miss it so much. I was determined to wake up and tap today and I found your videos! Thank you so much for giving me the ability to reconnect with tap all these years later. I had a blast!
You are totally awesome. My 5year old son attends a performance school here in the UK, and I think they are holding him back as he picks up things easily but they just drag things on. So much more can be done. He loves your videos and I think has learned more from you than the school. I wish you were in the UK my kids would be all up in there. :)
Great teacher!! All of the other people I found weren’t as energetic, supportive, and amazing as him! He broke down the moves really easily, and he went over them multiple time. He was constantly supporting me and staying motivated the whole video! I used to take tap lessons around 7 years ago, but I stopped when I was 6 or 7. It has been five years since then, but I wanted to start taking tap lessons again. However, since I was older they put me in an advanced class, but since it had been so long since I had last tap danced, I was frustrated and unmotivated. But I still had the love for tap dance! So, I decided to go on RU-vid and try and find some good tap tutorials for beginners, but it was hard to find someone that took the time to motivate me and keep me dancing. Once I came across this video, I was a little skeptical, but I totally underestimated him! He was super friendly, he reviewed the steps a lot so I could really get the hand of it, and encouraged me all the time! I love this video!! Thanks so much, I had a great time during this session!
Rod you are Awesome!!!! I thought tap dancing would be something I would always want to learn but could'nt Thanks to you I'm learning! You are patient and have a very calming voice great for adults and kids too. Great job!
Great energy! It's like you were teaching your friends. It's amazing how you can explain while you keep the rhythm. I like how even when it's a video it feels like you were really in the room, cheering your viewers like a personal trainer. Excellent work, thank you for sharing this online!
Currently taking tap lessons, and I'm kind of new to it. You are such an enthusiastic guy who clearly cares about what you're teaching. Just your cheerfulness makes it easier to learn! Thank you and all that you do in helping us beginners. Cant wait to see more of your videos! :)
Goodness, your videos are perfect, thank you! I found you right when it should be my bedtime, so I can't wait to try them out first thing tomorrow. I have been drawn to tap & soft shoe ever since falling in love with classic movies as a kid with Ginger, Fred, Rita, & Gene.. More people should learn tap, even just the basics!
i just started tapping a few days ago (literally) and this video is a LOT of help. can't wait to learn more! thanks for sharing this, Mr. Howell! good stuff!
yup! i can do everything in this video now. gonna keep doing this one for a few days before i move on to the next one. thanks again! you're awesome, man! :)
I haven't tapped since I was 8 but next Tuesday I'm going to start tap again and this video was perfect for reminding me of all the steps I've forgotten! It's also great that you're so upbeat and happy! It's contagious!! (:
i just bought some tap shoes (you know, new summer hobby, lol) and your beginner videos are awesome to follow! Your enthusiasm is great! thanks for taking the time to upload them!
me too! All those Gene Kelly musicals have reawakened my old desire to tap, which led me to this youtube video, so good luck to you! Now to find some tap shoes...
@@unitedtaps taking an adult beginner class here in Scotland but just couldn’t click with the fast time till I found your video.. I will be best in class this morning. 😂🤞🏻
I've been wanting to learn tap for years and now I finally managed to find shoes to fit me I came on here to see if there were any videos to help me learn. Found these videos which are really good and easy to go along with, so thank you :D
Just wanted to say thank you. I was intending to only do a little bit of the video to start, but your enthusiasm was so contagious, I ended up watching the entire video. Tapdancing is fun and I'm surprisingly good at it.
thanks i just went with a capezio cg55 and have made my first taps and am very excited, little challenging on the steps not to fall face first into the wall.
I have always wanted to tap, and today I found these videos, watched them, and became amazed at how simple you make things! Please continue with videos:)
dude, you are awesome! you manage to pull off an amazing level of sincere enthusiasm (while showing even the most basic-yet-essential fundamental steps) with a gentle humor that surprisingly never comes across feeling corny or contrived.
Hi Rod! I'm from Turkey and i love your videos. İın Turkey, tap dance hasn't known too much but in my school we started tap dance with you!! I love you and i glad to see your new videos. Sorry for bad English :/
I have been trying to find a creative therapeutic way to deal w my dissociative disorder- the goal is to bring the mind and the body back together. It hit me this afternoon, tap would be perfect. Thank you so much for posting a video for beginners. I'm all excited to give it a try now. :)
Just finished this lesson; had to run through the final combo twice and then try it out a few times with the video off to see if I got it. Messed up a few times, but when I finally got it and could do it two or three times without messing up, it was so cool! Almost like magic.
I've been dancing since I was 2 1/2, and I'm starting competition this coming year, but I never got the opportunity to learn tap. I am going to take lessons this fall, but my dance teacher said that it may be very hard for me to learn. I've learned a lot about the style without even taking a step outside my door. Thank you!
Have a wee one who is big into Shirley Temple, well she just watched "Dimples" and now wants to learn how to tap. So glad I found these video's. Thank You!
This is great!! My school is doing a play and it has a lot of tap in it and I can't tap dance!! This helping me greatly! I hope I can watch enjoy videos until auditions!! I love the attitude you have! It's fun and enjoyable! Very effective! Thank you! I'm going to keep watching!!
I’m currently in a production of Newsies and I had to learn how to tap ASAP for King of New York, and this series of videos was amazing! I’m so grateful these were here, I fully recommend
Rodney Howell ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6kH0aGPql2U.html here’s the link to the dance we ended up doing, your videos helped me accomplish that
Thank you for putting these lessons online! I have my first class tomorrow and I'm very nervous! You're a very good teacher. I watched the first 3 beginner lessons and now my heels and toes are very sore, but I've learned a lot. I also watched the end combination on one of the advanced lessons. I hope I can do that one day!
I've never tap danced before, but I wanted to. Unfortunately, my school doesn't offer that, so I turned to RU-vid. This video was fantastic for a complete beginner like me, and I'm definitely gonna check out some more :]
Thank you so much for making these videos!!!! I have been wanting to do tap all summer now but in order to do that at my dance school I would have to dance with a bunch of 6 year olds!!! So thankful I can learn on my own before going into tap at my dance school!
Excellent music. . . Hip hop rhythms are great for tapping. Plus the instruction is really well organized and motivating. I ordered the beginners bundle and I'm looking forward to all the lessons.
4 beat riff, yes. I've found the video and that is exactly what we have to learn. With you saying digs it helps me a LOT. Thank you so much! I'm definately going to practise more with your videos, hopefully by the 2nd class I will have it
So I'm 21 and my niece is 4 and neither one of us knows how to tap, but I'm willing too learn. I'm trying to do a choreography with her so I'm glad I found your video. Thank you Mr. Howell :)
shall follow this to learn tap, really good to learn the terminology as you go instead of just going with it. First tap words I've learnt after a few tap routines
I finally started learning tap dance at age 32 thanks to you. Last year my ankle ligaments were torn as I fell down stairs. Let's hope they can cope with this so that I can move to the next levels. Again thank you so much for the lessons.
My pleasure and thank you for tapping with me! I'm thinking the tap dancing will actually strengthen the muscles that support the ligaments in your ankles.
Hello Mr. Howell! I'd like to thank you for putting these videos up! I've always liked Tap dancing, and I've heard it is a good form of cardio exercise. I loved dancing along with a friendly guy such as yourself! You make the lessons a blast! ontop of that, you go at a VERY good pace, so that no matter what level you are at, you have time to learn and watch.
I cannot believe I was able to totally keep up. It was very relaxing very fun. I’m so impressed. I love the class and I’m gonna go look at purchasing it.
I love your tap dance lessons. I have the CD set and decided to break it out this morning because it is a gray, dreary day. I had so much fun doing all three, Level 1 workouts. Tap dancing makes me happy and your videos make me feel like a dancer. Thank you so much!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate what an awesome teacher you are andthe incredibly organized content of your channel. All the best to you.,
Thank You, I wanted to try something new creative to help open up my creative flow. I tried other dance tutorials and it just wasn't working. You have a great teaching style that is easy to follow. I like how you turned away from the camera to teach us.
Thanks for the videos, I've been wanting to learn tap for a while, but haven't had the money or been able to find a local adult class for beginners. Thanks again!
Hi Rod, i gotta thank u for your lessons, u r an amazing teacher. I didn't know how to do a tap step, and now i'm learning faster than ever thanks to your tutorials and your way of teaching, i'd love to take a real class with you, unfortunately i'm in Italy XD... THANK U, i mean it.
I really wanted to learn tap dancing since ages. Just came across your videos and they're really good. You are a really good teacher. Just can't buy tap shoes. So learning without them. Cheers!!!
Wow! This is so awesome! I'm going to a summer camp for triple arts with a lot of well known teachers- and I don't know how to tap. This is an awesome video! You keep me very interested and your positive attitude keeps me from getting too stressed. Thank you so much for keeping this free and available! I might just buy a syllabus!
