I disagree with you on this one dear pastor Rick. Jesus explains it when people misunderstand his metaphors, e.g., Nicodemus and being born again. But no, Jesus wanted the bread of life discourse to be taken literally. Thats why people were scandalized. They knew he was speaking literally. People weren't "scandalized" whee Jesus said "I am the vine...etc" because they knew it was metaphorical. But the bread of life discourse in John. 6? It was different. Jesus should have called back the "scandalized" people and say it was just metaphorical. But no. He let them go and even challenged the disciples, "Are you leaving too?" The words of Jesus are creative. If God created there world by the simple utterance of his word, would it be problem for God to transform the substance of bread and wine into his real body and blood?
