Разбираем "Катюшу". Taking apart Russian folk song Katyusha.
Words that are used in songs are usually words that are natural and that we use very often in a language. I hope these videos will help you learn more about a song that you like!
Learning Russian should be fun. I see so many students struggle to learn Russian grammar and words. They feel discouraged. I hope that learning Russian through fun songs will help you master the Russian language and discover the Russian culture.

Катюша (Katyusha)
(English Translation)
Apple trees and pear trees went into blooming,
River mists began a floating flow,
She came out and went ashore, Katyusha!
On the lofty bank, on the steeply shore.
She came out and sang she song about
Her young friend, the bluish eagle from steppe
All about the one she dearly loved,
The one whose letters she treasured and kept.
Hey, a song, the song of the young girl,
Fly and go after the bright Sun,
Find a soldier on the distant borderlands
Say hello from Katya waiting long for him.
Let him remember the young and simple maiden,
Let him hear the song she now sings,
Let him protect his Motherland for sure,
And their love Katyusha will protect.

Thanks! What a graceful teacher! From her facial expression I can image how her stubborn great grandpa stood up against the Übermensch.

Everything is great but why you always select ear-splitting version of the songs to demonstrate?

Nice video. Thank you. But it's a "folk" song composed by Malvey Blanter, composer of other "folk" songs such as "Stalin is our battle glory". Maybe you can qualify "folk" a bit further in this case? "official folk" "political folk"?

Great video thanks for posting. If you could put the subtitles in English characters, it would help those of use who don't know Cyrillic. Thanks!

Why didn't we see you dancing while translating this patriotic song? 😂 More seriously, what would be my name diminutive for Джеральд? Джери? Or something more Russian sounding? Спасибо большое 🤗
