This is the second installment of our language learning series, Krio 101. Krio is the vernacular language of Sierra Leone, spoken and understood by most of the country's population. It is closely related to many other creole languages such as Jamaican Patois (Patwa) as well as the Gullah language, spoken in and around the Gullah Islands. Additionally, it is largely intelligible with other Pidgin varieties of English spoken throughout West Africa, including the Nigerian and Cameroonian Pidgin as wel as Ghanian pidgin. If you would like more information on our language program, feel free to contact us via RU-vid or Facebook, and be sure to subscribe.
