As a spanish guitar player, I would recommend moving the chord also to the 5th fret.. very nasty sounding. Also, you could try faster strumming patterns, they work very well especially with this chord progression. Amazing video Tyler :D

This is the Spanish or flamenco equivalent of chugging the blues power chord on on the E string going from the 5th to the 6th interval back and forth. That being said, that suspended chord when you move the E shape up is a bad ass chord.

What I do is I use the chord shape you used when you said "maybe you can move it up an octave" but I still play it at the top of the fret board because it gives me access to the full E, F, and G chord progression. The trick is that when you're playing the E maj, you take the second finger off the A string so that you're left playing the D string onward, and then you can use that second finger to complete the F and G chords. That way you're not using all of the strings and you can apply all of those other techniques you implemented. Also if you know the Egyptian scale, you can use that to your advantage to go up and down the neck fully and get some real flavor in it. This is just something I've picked up. Haha!

Hey man! I know this video is just for fun but this isn't Spanish guitar! First and foremost let me say that I've been playing the classical ( spanish ) guitar for 6 years. i also started playing the electric guitar 1 year ago... To play the classical guitar you NEED a " classical guitar " and not an acoustic... it goes without saying that you must learn finger picking... Make sure you check out some spanish pieces like " romanza " .. it's a great piece for beginners. Currently I'm practising some Bach and Isaac albeniz ! So excited man! Love your Vids Tyler!

AH! just slide that shape down to the G and A bar chords and you got yourself a wrap. With the E major barre chord shape you can start on A, then go G, F and finish on the E and thats a really common "spanish" progression! Once you feel comfortable add in a few licks inbetween the chords and suddenly everyone thinks youre way better/cooler then you already are! but its also fun to play

That chord progression is used in "Synchronicity II" (E -Fmaj7add11# - G6 - F6/D). Andy Summers maked a great work in this song, probably one of the best in "The Police"

Awesome man! Try taking that E Maj up like you did and then a whole step from that. The actual progression I play is E Maj, F Maj, And G Maj with a pattern like D, U, D, (Miss), D, U, (Miss) and go up to F and do the same pattern then G w same pattern then after go Down on each chord back down to E. It sounds really cool plz try it

It's hard for some people to understand humor and sarcasm online,especially if it's in written format. The thing is,the various reactions to this was inevitable! Every person here has their own pre conceived notions and thoughts about whatever and sometimes,they don't align with others. For example,if one person who has never viewed any Music is Win video except for this one and in addition to that *is* spanish or has education in spanish classical guitar then ofcourse they'll view it as wrong and discriminating,reducing their whole musical culture to two chords. Ofcourse I'd be offended too if I were that way but I'm not. I'm not spanish,I've been subbed for a long time,I know Larson blends comedy into his videos and this is just one of those videos that...you can't take seriously. Hell,even I've been messing around with those two chords. It's almost the first thing I tried when picking up a nylon string guitar. I instantly thought "this is spanish alright,cool!" But it's not spanish classical guitar. Far from it. It's just the *SOUND* that's "spanish". If you heard this sound you wouldn't think "oh this country song is sweet!",you'd think "spanish,cool". People need to learn the ability to take a peek outside of their three dimensional box they so often put themselves in :)

E7b9 and use mixolidian b9 b13 or mixolidian b9. Also major and minor but tje most significant is tje andalusian cadence( I7 IIb7)

If you want to sound even more Spanish change just ONE NOTE. Play 033200 first but instead of playing 022100 leave one finger in the same place to play 023100. This changes it from E major to E major add flat 9 which sounds even more flamenco and because you have shared notes adds some nice flow between the chords.

You can also add a pinky on 5th fret for added effect

E and A minor sounds really good together too. Reminds me of an outlaw

I have an Santana at home, it is an good guitar, so it is great to learn how i should play some spanish stuff on the guitar, then i can play it on my santana.

You can use the harmonic minor scale (I think it's called) of A and play it over E major and sound spanishy

This was actually one of the first things I discovered on my own with the guitar

So... I'm in this "band". The lead singer really likes chordy stuff and I really like riffs and rocky-rock. He asked me to do a "ten second solo"... ten seconds... What do I do? He seems pretty intent on chordy stuff.
